Fun Fact: Lickitung also has a very very small 1v1 gimmic in generations 7 and 8 due to its insane stalling capabilities combined with oblivious blocking taunt. It actually got used as a sort of meme set that could live monsterous hits such as Tapu lele's psychic terrain boosted Z psychic and the follow up psychic due to amnesia and then proceeding to rest off the damage

I used to try to "anti-meta" Gen 5 weather Wars in OU with Lickilicky. As a Cloud Nine Mixed attacker with a super effective hit on all the popular Weather setters it looked good in theory. In reality it wasn't great and you were better fighting weather with your own weather. It was so close to being good, but I think it's stats let it down, it's movepool is pretty amazing. But I still hold a special place for this guy and love his design.

You know what Jessie's Lickitung reminds me of? The time 4Kids got its chronology wrong! Basically, two of yhe anime episodes, "Princess vs. Princess" and "A Farfetch'd Tale" were broadcast in the wrong order since the the Farfetch'd episode was aired before the Princess one, and the latter episode was where Jessie caught Lickitung while it was mentioned in the former episode. And all I gotta say is, of all the Pokemon Jessie's owned, I feel bad for Lickitung due to how little it was used compared to Arbok and even later Pokemon that joined her! One could say it's because Jessie hated the way it licked her face, but asking a Lickitung NOT to use its tongue is like asking a fish not to swim!

While it would totally be in character for them, that wasnt actually 4kids fault. The hiatus the show took after the electric solder polygon incedient caused significant issues with scheduleing, so the episode where jessie caught lickitung aired after the farfatch'd episode did in japan as well. There are actually several other examples of continuity being screwed up by this. Of course 4kid airing for the episodes effected by this, for reasons we dont know, actually ended up being even more out of order than the Japanese airing so 4kids still messed up continuity, just not on lickitungs capture.

I knew the Pokemon anime took a hiatus after "Electric Soldier Porygon", but I didn't think it'd affect the order in which several episodes were released! Technically, it was the Wynaut video, but since then, FSG would make (pardon the pun) small exceptions for Pokemon if they got a new evolution like Galarian Farfetch'd in LC since it evolves into Sirfetch'd.

Lickilicky's lower body resembles the wifi symbol. Also, its tongue is shorter than Lickitung's.

The in-game model suggests this, but its Gen 7 Dex entries state how a contest was held to find out the length of Lickilicky's tongue, with the record being 82 feet. Oh, and Conway's Lickilicky using its tongue to execute Power Whip is kinda funny, not gonna lie.

Good video, just a small correction: Little Cup has been played competitively since Gen 2, at least in Japan, in fact, they have a tier list and analysis for the Pokémon of that format in the site called Pokémon Battle Historia.

Lickilicky is a pokemon I grew to love in pokemon y as it was my first shiny in that game and despite the weaker explosion at this point, it still did pretty good damage thanks to STAB. It also has a really fun movepool so while not amazing it can be a fun tank to use from time to time.

No mention of licklylicky in VGC16? That surprises me, because with Cloud nine it certainly had a cool ninche against the weather trio. Ice beam for Rayuaza, muddy water for Groundon and Power whip for Kyorge. While also having quite the bulk to take hits from those threats rather well, especially with an Assault vest attached.

It's weird when you see a Pokemon that you thought was at least decent in lower tiers actually being unviable. Even great bulk, decent attacking stats, a pretty wide and reliable movepool, and a good ability still aren't the be all end all when it comes to competitive.

Your comment makes me wanna come up with a regional variant, but the large tongue is its trademark...Maybe an Ice/Steel Type where the tongue is frozen metal like A Christmas Story, except the tongue IS the pole? Or maybe a Electric/Ground Type where the paralysis from licking gives an electric charge? If they change anything about Lickitung, it's likely gonna be its tongue that gets dibs!
