I am a Contractual Teacher myself in a remote area of Arunachal Pradesh… i teach mathematics and i am the only one for entire school, and our school is in dilapidated state no restoration from government. And teachers who are regular who earns in lakhs don’t even do the bare minimum duty they take only 1-2 class a day and leave literally within 2-3 hours. And there is corruption in MDM too from IAS DC to DDSE to MDM incharge all share the money from MDM! And regarding the hiring of teachers who are truly committed well thats not possible because during interviews they all will act like they truly committed but after getting regular jobs they don’t work hard.

Now if you look at the fees the private schools are charging, it is much greater than my entire university fees. This is about basic pre school fees. And we are not studying our mother tongue at all. I also studied from government school. i never went private school and currently i am postdoctoral researcher in iit kanpur. According to my experience i found teachers quality in goverment school are much better than private school but they focus on teaching in coaching rather than school. which is a very sad reality. government school is only option for economically weak public to teach their children. and we gives very high taxes so genuinely goverment school must be improved. but no one is ready to work on that. UP goverment are ready to give 1 lakh to social media influencers but do not want to improve schools.
