. This is the CORRECT Tempo for this beautiful Hymn - many Organist want to drag it along... When I used to perform this for Funeral Services, I sometimes played it just a little slower.

I remember this was sung at my grandfather’s funeral. he was 90. he was a farmer. He grew up living on farmland with wheat and raising horses. In new year’s 2003 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease so he had to move off the farm into an elderly lodge he passed away in winter 2008

Same! We started with 'How Great Is Our God' and then changed to this one in the chorus. I was so happy when that happened as it is my absolute favourite hymn. I sung so loudly then haha (hopefully my singing was in tune then)!

About 5 years ago, Lance, "How Great Thou Art" was among the Top Ten Hymns selected by our Congregation, St. Stephen's C. of S, Aberdeen. This is wonderful and beautifully played! If necessary, please may we have permission to use this to accompany our singing in Portland Church in Troon on Sunday 12 June 2022? We currently have a choir but no regular organist, soon to have no locum minister and our future as a church is very uncertain. I am trying to get a recording but our occasional organist is out of town. This would help enormously!

Absolutely lovely song this is. Thank you. The only problem and this is common on youtube, is that you play it a bit fast. That way it is not as enjoyable for us listeners, as it could have been. Again a big thank you for your work.

You're welcome - I have been an AGO ( American Guild of Organist ) for 42 years and this is the correct tempo, not the slow tempo some Organist continue to play it. I have 13 Hymnals and most state - not slow, with much movement.. Have a Blessed day. Lance †♫♪♫

It is probably the correct tempo. Maybe it is me. I have been singing this song for 40 years, and never this fast. That's why I can't enjoy it in this tempo.

This is in fact the correct tempo, if you beat time you will realise this is the correct timing. The problem is, so many play this hymn so slowly that people believe that is how it should be played and then think it is too fast when they hear it at the correct tempo

I like it in Ab, but still good, I can't sing the high E flat key because my voice is deep. I sing it in the 13th Sunday in ordinary time. Perfect
