One of my greatest gaming achievements of all time was clearing Avenged Sevenfold's Afterlife on expert difficulty on the guitar on rock band two. I had never been a particularly mechanically skilled gamer, so it was quite difficult for me to do that. When I cleared the solo, I started screaming and celebrating so hard my family had to come check on me.

It didn’t die fully. Back in 2008 me and my buddies played Guitar Hero after work. We would get our wives and girlfriends together and get drunk playing it having a great time. Some of us still get together and play it together from time to time and talk about the infantry and life and it’s like old times again, just, we’re in our 40s and arthritis sucks lol.

Good news: Rhythm games have never died. They are still super popular overseas, and hold a fair bit of sway on mobile markets. It is worth noting that while the Guitar Hero and Rock Band and names may be gone, there are still lots of great games out there that do exist and are worth your attention. Never forget Dance Dance Revolution. Go try out Taiko no Tatsujin for new drumming action. Go try the Arcade Guitar Hero games that are still being made every so often.

One thing that some other content creator (I think Jason Paradise?) mentioned is that with the decline of guitar hero, there was a decline in the guitar controller production. These days they are kind of hard to find good ones for cheap and they only serve a single purpose, though the Riffmaster did start getting produced thanks to Fortnite. However clone hero does also support the drum controllers, which can use a MIDI input directly from an electronic drum set, which not only can act as your controller but as an actual drum set. Basically while the guitar side of clone hero may die, the drum side of it will continue to grow since electronic drum sets aren't made solely for clone hero.

Guitar Hero 3 was among my favorite games as a kid and teenager, and is the reason I started playing guitar. It kills me to think that this whole genre has all but died off.

I had played the final challenge of Rock Band 2 (The Wii version, so no achievements) playing ALL of the music tracks in 1 OMEGA concert (thank goodness I wasn't on the platforms that were gonna ask to do a pauseless run of it... I can imagine many's bladders and bowels might have burst and the mountain of snacks/drinks management so dehydration/hunger wouldn't disturb the players)

Rock Band is literally the reason I play bass. Without Rock Band, I wouldn't have gotten to do worship music in church for, like, seven years straight. Playing along with music is a core part of my enjoyment of it, and it wouldn't have happened without Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

But it's not dead. Sure, the peripherals are, because no one is buying them, but for example, Fortnite Festival IS a Guitar Hero style game with the toggles mapped to either the keyboard or a controller, but it's still going. It's a niche now.

@TDTProductions8 күн бұрын
The thing is, the genre did “die”. It’s just came back. There was about a 5-10 year period where there was NOTHING from them. For games, that’s nuts. Imagine no major racing game releases for 5+ years

@@TDTProductions Yeah there was a period when not much was happening within it, the come back is interesting and I hope more "gimmicky" peripherals make a more main stream come back.
