I would also like to find a source for white veneers. I do make binding/purfling but I end up using maple instead of a true white. Also, I haven't found a good source for long pieces of ebony for binding.

I buy large ebony lumber. 30"L x 1 1/2x1 1/2" minimum and mill it for binding. I use maple or poplar for "white" purfling.Sometimes make my own.

that was great and helpful! Where do you source the materials for the layers?

I buy Ebony logs and mill them to my needs. The veneers I get from www.constantines.com/dyedveneer.aspx

Do you ever have trouble with the purflings delaminating from the bindings as you bend them, or does the Titebond hold up just fine under the heat?
@schrammguitars2 ай бұрын
No issues with delamination. That can occur if you use water when bending binding/purflings. Bend them dry or with very light mist of water

@@schrammguitars Groovy. I've always been hesitant to try Titebond making my bindings but I guess I should have just given it a shot to see what happened. 😅 Guess I'll do it that way next time! Thanks for the reply.

I like the mask so I went and got one. And a flashlight. Some paint pens. I've been repairing electric guitars for a while now I want to make one. I'm scared of the neck though, any advice?

Great masks. I love them. What makes you unsure about the neck?

@@schrammguitars It seems like there are a lot of things to get right, the body/neck connection and truss rod mostly. I imagine there is a jig to cut the frets. I'm going to think of the first one I make as "practice" so no pressure, and no buyer.

@@schrammguitars Do you think it might be easier to build an acoustic than electric? I like bending wood.

Electric is much easier. I build those too.@@BariumCobaltNitrog3n
