The only problem with that cremation ending, as described, is that it still leaves some doubt about it really being Michael, since he has the mask on when burned. They already did that fake out once when they retconned his beheading in Ressurection. "What if he switched his mask?!" They wanted to be really really clear that Michael is destroyed for good.

I was kind of hoping he'd be burned but the trash compactor was good too. And I'm glad that the whole town got to see it so 1. They all knew for sure he was dead and 2. Laurie was vindicated.

That would’ve been a horrible ending, Laurie is supposed to represent the good in the world to foil the evil of Michael. Personally I liked how it ended with Laurie getting closure and finally moving on from the terror that was, through no fault of her own, put on her and haunted her almost her whole life. As she said though, evil never truly dies it just changes shape. Corey was meant to show that other Michaels are currently in the making and just because his and Laurie’s stories ended, there will be many more versions of that same terror inevitably coming to life. And we should keep a lookout for it while doing what we can to protect ourselves and those we love from being devoured by it

Something like that would have felt empty and hollow and disappointing. I could see Laurie dying with Michael by sacrificing herself to kill him. But if he's already presumed dead and he pulls her in with him, then what the hell was it all for? I am glad Laurie lives and has a happy ending.

Well they pretty much ended it that way in the ending we got. Through nuance, they explained that Michael is literally a man possessed/bonded with "The Shape" entity. "The Shape" gets stronger through killing. Michael's vessel is too weak from the damage in 2018/Kills so it needs Corey's vessel to kill to revitalize "The Shape" energy within Michael. Once revitalized, Michael confronts Laurie, loses, and passes "The Shape" to Laurie when he chokes her like when he passed it to Corey. All of a sudden she shows sympathy and holds his hand as he dies. She never seems right after that point and even says "evil never dies but just changes shape". I guess Laurie gave in like Corey said she should have done the first time she looked into Michael's eyes at the end of the movie

I see it as Michael and Laurie's one vs. one fight was a stalemate/draw but with Michael having the advantage (he was choking her and he was either about to kill her or pass his evil into her and may have passed his evil into her) when the one vs. one fight ended but the one vs. one fight ended because Laurie's Granddaughter stepped in and saved Laurie and then it became 2 (Laurie and her Granddaughter) vs. 1 (Michael Myers)..and that's when/why Michael lost but still may have passed his evil into Laurie..maybe her Granddaughter was too late and Michael really won by passing his evil into Laurie.

When Michael was choking her she flashed back to not only his attacks on her but also on all the people she cared about that he killed. Her friends in 1978, her daughter. And the previous times she fought back. Stabbing him with the needle, burning him in her bunker. The whole "Evil changes shape" thing I think was to set up another possible Corey like story. Someone else will come along and pick up where Michael left off. Evil never truly dies.

There were several endings and variations of the end of the M vs L fight. You can see bits and pieces of them in the finished movie and in the tv spots / trailers. If you look closely, when Laurie stabs Michael in the chest before he sits up on her kitchen counter, he has no mask on for the wide shot of her stabbing him. She originally stabbed him in the head several times after taking his mask off. And that was the end of that, no hand grabbing her neck etc. They probably reshot and added more stuff after the first test screening. Also there were at least three variations of the town disposing of MMs body. Corey's death and confontation with Laurie was changed at least once too.

I have a feeling that there are multiple alternate endings where Laurie becomes the new Shape, similar to Jamie Lloyd in "Halloween 4." In one version, Corey assumes the role of the Shape and mirrors the ending of "Halloween 1978." Another ending ties in with "Halloween 3: Season of the Witch," featuring a Michael Myers mask made by the Silver Shamrock Company. I feel like all of this ending would’ve been more crazier than the version that we got.

The incineration makes more sense since it harkens back to the Loomis recording telling them to incinerate the body. Would've come full circle that way. Also would've had a shot in the crematorium akin to 2018 where Michael is surrounded by fire, and then the camera cuts back and he isn't there, something like that. Leaving it up to the audience whether he was incinerated or escaped. Either way, Laurie gets her happy ending as no matter how Michael's fate is decided upon by fans, she gets the closure of killing him, whether she did it for real or just thinks she did. She won't be seeing Michael again regardless as he just wanted to be left alone anyway

I liked the ending because Andi Matichak acted her ass off. Her timing of "not dead enough" was on point and I liked that we were building up to people taking the first step in getting closure and the main characters got that. No happily ever after or anything just. The ending felt rushed but I'll just wait for the extended release and enjoy it again.

You know what? I was giving this alternative ending you described some thought. And I actually think I would have preferred the Alternative ending more. For 1. I feel they were trying to hint through most, if not all the movie, that evil can always take a new and different shape. So I feel that an ending like this would better complete the theme this movie seems to be going for. And 2. I was one who personally felt a slight bit of Sympathy for Corey based on what he went through that lead up to what he became. So for Laurie to get a taste of what Corey experienced through Michael's eyes I feel in some sort of strange way I guess you could say, would give some closure to what happened to Corey.

So when DGG said Michael won't die in this film, he lied. And when DGG said this will leave an opening for someone to take Halloween in a another direction after this final battle... Well, that was a lie as well. So from now on, do we, the audience and fans, trust anything DGG says? I think this will be the last DGG movie I'll ever watch! And btw, Mike, this movie blows bigger chunks than Regan (Linda Blair) did! I only gave it a 1/2 out of 100! DGG ruined my favorite movie, even more so than Rob Zombie did!!!

I think the point of the film was that, whatever was present in Michael, whatever it is that took a human being and turned it into "the shape" can go from body to body. Like at the end of Halloween 4. Those who think the destruction of the body meant the annihilation of the presence, I think, were missing the point. The film even says as much. Evil doesn't die, it changes "shape". So this film offers a conclusion to the story, while leaving room for new, creative, film makers to do their own thing.

@@chitownphxman I love horror of pretty much all kinds, but everyone has things they gravitate towards. It's a bit like music, you may love just about all music, but certain things are going to make it into your regular rotation more often. I liked the human dramatic, elements of this movie, but even moreso, I liked that this movie finally capitalized off the idea introduced at the end of Halloween 4 (an ending that I happen to think is the scariest in the series). I felt the idea was vaguely alluded to in 2018 with Sartain, and they cut loose with it here. My kind of jam.

It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be but it could have been A LOT worse. I heard theories of Laurie dying, Michael talking, Allyson turning evil like Jamie Lloyd, etc. I got what I wanted. Laurie survives, Michael dies and we even got a hint of Laurie and Frank getting together. I HATED Corey with a passion.

I commented in a video yesterday that the ending as how Loomis described it in the '18 tapes would have worked. Fights Laurie. Police arrive. Myers is rearrested. Smash cut to prison. Smash cut to his execution. Smash cut to his cremation. That would have been a better ending than what we got. If they want an evil lives on ending. Mid credits scenes showing another town soemwhere else and a child murdering a family member or friend. Showing it all begins anew. Not the poop ending we got.

I couldn't take this movie seriously just from the opening when that kid falls from the top of the staircase holy shit I was laughing like crazy the way he hits the floor and bounces back up man he had it coming why would you stand next to the door that's next to the staircase when you can clearly hear the guy slamming the door with all the strength he has I mean that kid went flying for a reason
