This channel is one of my own heart. I've always observed things and wondered how or why they work and always explored deeper - all the way down to the most mundane things. People thought I was crazy as a kid. I've kind of lost my will to experiment and do hobbies as an adult but I'm still really interested in everything. Also, I didn't know golf balls deformed like that. That's crazy. And that's my problem with golf - the few times I've swung an actual golf club (and not a little putt golf club), I can't hit the ball. I hit the ground usually. This was all pretty awesome.

13:19 THE most incredible slo-mo clip in the history of the moving image. The instantaneous cavitation within the body of the melon created such a powerful vacuum that melon residue that was initially ejected away from the point of impact at high speed reversed direction and was sucked back into the melon. I suspect that there was enough physics going on within the first few milliseconds post-impact, that you could base a masters thesis in fluid dynamics on that one video clip.

It's not cavitation, just a very low pressure following the ball thatthen sucks the airborne liquid back. Cavitation refers to very low pressure liquid vaporizing locally.

I want to see the speed of the ball hitting the club slowly elevated until the club fails. This would show the maximum exit velocity of a ball from a golf club. I’m an avid baseball fan and in the last few seasons there has been a record amount of home runs being hit and I am attributing that to the baseballs being made differently to increase their “springiness” off the bats. After watching this video I would be really intrigued if you could test a ball made even 10 years ago vs now to see if there is a difference in how far each one could travel.

@@ministerc9513, but he did say the vacuum is not powerful enough to test the strength. He initially wanted to find the limits of the ball, so recorded himself saying that. But when he did the test, he found out that he can't find it using the equipment they currently have. Also, this won't be fake news since he didn't give a fake strength, for this to be fake news. Even if the title was "Finding the Strength of Golf Ball", it wouldn't be wrong since that's was the motto of the video, but ultimately they couldn't. This is Science and you can't compare unanswered questions in these Science videos to those clickbait videos on YT, which may seem similar but they genuinely try to bait people unlike Dustin. You can compare the flow in the is video to actual real life science experiments. But you are right in that they should have used the new golf ball as the thumbnail, even tho the old one is also a golf ball and makes for a better thumbnail(Just my opinion). It makes it seem from the title that a golf ball at 500mph has deformed that way.

@@daniel-hh4jn Incorrect: The 2000lb steel manhole cover from the Pascal B underground test of a 64.6 lb Plutonium Pit Nuclear Bomb was ejected at many times escape velocity. The exact speed is unknown due to the fact the high-speed camera that captured the event only managed to catch it in a single frame because of how ridiculously fast it was moving. Nuclear physicists at the time theorized it was traveling at roughly 150,000 mph or 6 times escape velocity. You can brute force objects to ridiculous velocities.
