Neil and Blake have got hold of a Canyon Torque:ON and a new Orbea Rise to see how they handle some of the biggest jumps in our neck of the woods! We headed to the Dirt Farm near Abergavenny in Wales to put them through their paces on the fast trails and over the various jumps.

I want trails built for what an e-bike is capable of at the limit. Can't wait to see the future of e-biking. There is almost no terrain limitation anymore, it's all fun if the trail design is good. Places no longer need to rely on having hills suited for descending to be a destination. This sport is going to evolve in an amazing direction.

@@jayvkman Yes. I'm 40 and the jumping doesn't scare me. Riding down gnarly, steep stuff doesn't scare me. I want to learn all of that. I'm just too old to fall. 😆 Earlier this year I had a crash on a simple jump, somehow DIDN'T break my collarbone and was sore for days. Combine that with the high heat (over 100f basically all summer) and I haven't ridden much, so my confidence is low. But I definitely want to get back to working on my jumps.

@@dvs620 falling is inevitable. At this age healing takes forever, my wrist is still messed up from a crash in June. Maximizing time on the bike is key, so add padding everywhere to avoid time off + boost confidence. Time is the one thing you can’t get more of ;)

Just picked up the Marin Alpine Trail E1 and love it so far! Was worried about the weight, but my KTM weighs about 250 pounds, and I throw that around a bit, so no worries there. It’s got great suspension, and I love the mullet setup. I’m keeping my Ghost as well, so I’ve got options, but first rode out I did about 17 miles and looped a long uphill section with some sweet single track downhill!

I am assuming you are in Europe... I would recommend a Dengfu e10(bafang m600, m510 motors) , and dengfu e22(bafang m620 motor, chews more battery but stronger more reliable motor, mostly on climbs with full torque / using the optional throttle) almost identical frames other than motor mounts! I personally ride e10 and it is AMAZING. Great prices too for a way more capable bike than 90% of the market.

It’s great to see the Orbea been chucked around like that. I’ve got a Rise M10 and it’s a great bike. Been to the bike park a few times, but never jumped it anything like this. Interesting to see that the wheels had been changed. One think that’s currently bothering me on my Rise is the wheels. They sometimes give the impression you’ve got a flat tyre as they squirm around. Did you change them because you didn’t think the stock ones were up to the task? What is the spec on the ones you are running?

I put the 27.5 rear Wheel out of my Trek in my M10 since i destroyed the rim of the original Wheel in the Bikepark. I think that happened when i rode down a ~80cm "root-drop" to flat and landed on a rock. I can tell you this rim really was f*cked, i dont think they are that robust.

That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.

Great to see the a-hole purists getting riled up.... doubt many of them know the input most of the GMBN guys have had on EMBN in the last few years, all brilliant....keep up the good work folks... Even Si Richardson did The Slab on an e-gravel bike- oh yes he was absolutely f***ed at the top but there's the proof that you still can get a massive workout but get up things all you "real" mountain biking gods out there could never even contemplate....

I'm lazy enough and should never be allowed an e-bike. Maybe in 30 years when my knees are shot I'll consider one until then I'll keep pedaling

so you have never ridden one then? you have to pedal- the motor only assist you. The versions with throttles are generally not allowed in the EU or are treated as motorbikes

I think E- bikes are gonna kill themselves. They will get better and more powerful until a ministry of transport or department of transportation classifies them as a motorcycle. Or at least up to a certain power level.
@olik136
@olik136 Жыл бұрын
all the e-bikes you see here or on EMBN are actually pedelecs- depending on the country (but similar in most EU countries) they are regulated to 250w output and may only assist your manual input (no throttle). Only the torque and responsiveness differs. Those rules got updated from the existing laws for gas-engine assisted bicycles. The only think killing e-bikes at the moment is the prize- they have come close to actual motorbikes...

Good video, but I'd rather p1ss on an electric fence than get an ebike. If I want a powered bike, there's 150bhp in the garage. I may be a bit old n fat, but I'd rather earn my stripes then buy em.

Jus goes to show the extra weight means virtually NOTHING! For Gods sake a Motocross bike weighs 250 lbs they dont seem to have ANY issue getting air. I say get the Ebike with the fastest motor that way u can rip thru trails, hit jumps like dirt bikes and get back up the hill as fast as possible.
This is who E Bikes are for...
