How hard is it to install Transmission and Engine on VW Bus? - Real story -

Real story of VW friends helping each other to install the Engine and the Transmission onto Split Window VW Bus in a ordinary garage without Car Lift. We encountered some challenges and we overcame them, in the process I learned some lessons.

Fun video i enjoyed it. Lots of mistakes made but that where you learn from. Example before mounting the trans you need to attach the rear trans mounting bracket and you bolt the trans first before attaching the shifter rod.

The tight space nut (17mm)is the wrong one, it is meant to be a smaller sided nut so you can tighten it up easy, normally 15mm. Great job helping out fellow vw members too😉👍🏽

With old VW busses, we cannot go anywhere very fast. My '58 maximum speed is 55mph, and even that is too fast for the engine. My original transmission is very strong, goes up steep hills easily, but speed is the compromise. Maybe someday a new Rancho "Freeway Flyer" is in our future? In the meantime, my bus is teaching me...patience! 😊✌️
