Dual Clutch Transmissions require a special setup when replacing the clutch assembly. In this video we go through the setup process on a VW Caddy and show you how to remove and reinstall the clutch assembly in the transmission (DQ200 7 speed dry clutch). Please note that different vehicles require variations to the process for this including the tools used and tolerances as well as the removal and installation of components.

I have dsg gearbox vw car. once on highway I accidentally moved to Neutral mode and engine revved I immediately shifted to D mode. since then engine pickup is little dropped and it revves much higher in 1st gear before moving to 2nd gear. what could have damaged?

I have been experiencing a problem with the DQ250 gearbox for the last 10,000 km and it sounds like this: When the clutch engages there is a clunk, the gear shifts are very linear and nothing is felt, except a clunk and a little jerk. I have noticed this phenomenon also when I go, in any gear, take my foot off the accelerator and put it back on, a clank is heard. I'll leave some videos below with what I'm trying to explain. I'm guessing it would be the dual mass flywheel, the car having 210k km. The dog bone and mounts are ok. Replaced the CV Joints but nothing changed. The sounds appears when you try to reproduce the noise which gets louder and louder the more you try to reproduce it Also when i'm in idle i feel sometimes some vibratians and when i put it in D, the vibration dissaperes. On VCDS there's no errors from mechatronic unit. What do you guys think? Video on my profile.

u should ask the official volvo garage. because every transmission is different, and in this video its a dsg used by vw /audi /skoda/seat... volvo doesnt have a dsg transmission but there own type of automatic.

Excellent video! My dct fiat 500 transmission does not engage after sitting in cold weather. After a warmup by running the engine for some time... only even number gears are being used. If I manually try and engage the odd gears the system tells me that the gears are unavailable. Any ideas on the issue?

Hi John, We haven't come across this in a Fiat 500 before and without the vehicle to diagnose, it is very difficult to know, but it sounds as if this might be transmission related rather than the clutch system. Probably best to take it to your local specialist to have a look and diagnose. Thanks

Hi Wyr Thank you for your question This is dependent on the vehicle etc. Can you advise which vehicle you are working on? Referring to the front transmission seal/input shaft seal, in general this should just be replaced if it is seeping. Some vehicles are also prone to the seal leaking/failing and it is therefore suggested that this is replaced during this process. Thanks

Hi I have one of these transmissions in a VW Passat cc sport 2012 it doesn't engage if I roll the car down hill and let it pick up speed then press gas it drives then when it shifts to 3rd it's back to no power so I can press gas unless it's in second what can be the issue...does the clutch need reinstalling?

Hi Khakans The life of the clutch is dependent on the way in which the vehicle is driven as well as any performance modifications of the vehicle. If you feel that the clutch assembly is at the end of its life, you may notice some of the following: shudder when taking off from a stop, noises from the clutch that could indicate a failure or clutch slipping. These symptoms may also be as a result of other factors but are common indicators of a clutch failure. Thanks

Hi, Every manufacturer has a slightly different setup. With most VW Dry Clutch setups like the one in the video, it will automatically re-learn. It may cause some check engine lights that would need to be cleared by a scan tool. Thanks

Bjr superbe video bien expliqué 👏👏, juste pour un détail pour moi mon ( kit embrayage deuxième génération K1+0,2 K2+0,2). K1 cale 1,8mm (tolérance 1,8+0,2=2mm). K2 cale 1,2mm (tolérance 1,2+0,2=1,4mm). Donc avec l'outillage LUK officielle si j'ai bien compris j'ai placé une cale pour le K1 1,8mm tolérance K1 +0,2mm pour le k1 je place une cale de 2mm à la place du 1,8mm?, et pour le K2 1,2mm tolérance +0,2 pour le K2 je place un cale de 1,4mm à la fin l'opération ?

Hello can old clutches recalculate and work like. New I think it's it's ppposible but you must calculate agan those measurement from the new for example new itsh 0.30 mm the old must be 0.20 and readapt with diagnostic tool and work like neww baythe way bye have a nice day.

Not more trouble free than most modern auto transmissions, but more efficient, more compact and lighter, resulting in better performance and fuel economy. Early DCTs had plenty of problems, newer ones are better. Early automatic transmissions also had their share of trouble compared to manual transmissions. With time the problems get sorted out.
