One of the most glaring ones for me that has always been a major gripe was the change in Tidus's dialogue when you first arrive on the airship and try to get Cid to tell you where Yuna is. When I played the HD Remaster, I knew that scene off by heart from the number of playthroughs on the PS2 version and my brain went into repeating the lines... Original: Cid: "You're all the same, let the summoner die so we can live in peace!" *flips Tidus* Tidus: "No!" *Tidus climbs to his feet* "I'm not gonna let Yuna die!" Cid: "Hah, words, show me action!" Tidus: "I'm telling you, she won't die!" HD Remaster: Cid: "You're all the same, let the summoner die so we can live in peace!" *flips Tidus* Tidus: "No!" *Tidus climbs to his feet* Cid: "Hah, words, show me action!" Tidus: "I'm telling you, she won't die!" It's one of those things that has lodged in my mind, because it feels like a totally needless change that actively detracts from the scene and I have no idea why they did it

You forgot to mention that theres a glitch (or maybe intentional?) that Tidus' line to Cid "I'm not gonna let Yuna die!" was removed from the HD remasters.

In the ps2 version when you look for Auron in the café in Luka Tidus says: he´s not here. Yuna responds: hmm lets ask around. In the remaster she just responds with: hmm Must be a bug they overlooked

I've never not had a no encounters armor drop by the time I'm farming celestial weapons. I love the steam version for the ability to add extra encounters. I don't think I could go back to the monster capturing without that.

I always hated how kimahris lance was called "spirit lance" it sounded so boring and like a random piece of equipment while the other party members have actual named weapons. His ultimate weapon should have been Gungnir and the random weaposn with break damage limit should have been spirit lance

FFX was just as important to the growth of the series as FF7. Just a fantastic experience. There is one change I wish they had in the PS3/4/Vita release that Steam had which is the boosters like speed up and god mode because they really helped grinding those Sphere grids out. Maybe God mode is unnecessary and makes it too easy but they could at least have had the speed up because the grind is tedious.. or shall I say tidius? Anywho, this was a very informative video!

I love this game a lot, this video is really good as final fantasy X is my third favourite final fantasy game. It’s a good thing I have loads of versions of the game which are the North American version, the pal version and the ps4 version. I am glad this video exists for version differences.

Wow, I don’t know how I feel about the JP version changing the JP subtitles to match the English version’s dialogue. Is there at least an option for players to choose whether the subtitles match the JP script or Eng script? Especially for that last scene! I always bring that one up when discussing the high context vs low context language differences. Absolutely wild to me. Also baffling that they’d switch the Planetary Sigils back like that in the Switch version. I know the new players they’d be aiming for won’t care, but it certainly makes looking up guides confusing regardless if newbie or veteran brushing up.

The boosts in the Steam version don't work in all situations. I tried using "Auto-Battle" and "4x Speed" to farm Sin Scales on the first battle with Sin at sea. While "4x Speed" is available, 'Auto-Battle" is not available in that specific battle. I'm not sure if other common farming battles have this restriction.

In the german PAL and HD version the german sub has Yuna saying "Thank you" meanwhile she says in english "I love you" i assume they translated from the japanese subtitles rather then the english dub

Something I will always find interesting is that at least all the models from ffx-2 int + lm Version are present in the original pal Version of the game so i'm asking myself why square haven't done the same thing for ffx-2 like they did with ffx where the pal Version had the International content playable

Amazing game but I just can't get past the need to play Blitzball... I don't know how many saves files I have on PS3, PS4, Switch and PC where I got stuck where I had to play blitzball. Thank fudge I can always watch your let's play.

This timeline of releases is clearly missing the pbirdman mod version of 2021! Tsk tsk. Seriously tho, nice breakdown, learned a couple new things today. 4x Speed and Auto-Battle is the only way I've actually completed the Luck postgame grind. In the past I always abandoned my FFX postgame runs before reaching the end and beating Penance, but that QoL improvement is what I needed to make it through all the way. So definitely thankful to the PC HD version for that. A couple minor things to add in case you weren't aware of them: the natively portable versions of the FFX HD Remaster, that is the PSVita and I think also the Switch version, allow you to Quick Heal, meaning automatically use either Yuna's cure spells or Potions to top your whole party, by swiping the screen from the left. And of course, certain versions of the HD remaster (I believe PS4 onwards) allow you to choose between either Original or Arranged OST, which the original releases of it on PS3 and Vita did not. One nerdy little thing to note as well is that the PS4 HD original release was pretty broken, having the field music reset after every battle and using the same fixed RNG seed every time you start the game - which hilariously actually apparently allows you to always get the 99 Warp Spheres from the Omega Ruins simply by loading up a save inside the ruins off a hard reset. This was patched and fixed but you could still abuse it if you played a clean physical copy without connecting to the internet, thus preventing the update patches from applying.

1 of the changes made that's interesting, not really major, and not mentioned in this video was the fact that, on the PS Vita, Nintendo Switch, and XBox One versions, they added a quick recovery option on the touch screen.

Regarding the auto battle, I only ever really used it when I did a playthrough of FFX and I wanted to farm tons of sphere levels on the ship where you fight Sin's fin and he keeps sending those little Sin spawns that you can farm endlessly... or so I thought. It doesn't actually work on that battle. Really though, I think I only used it in FFX-2, since I wanted to play through the story without having to bother much with the gameplay, since I'm not a fan of it. Very cool to see the changes over the years and across versions. I knew about some of them like the change between "ありがとう" ( Arigatou/Thank you ) and "愛してる" ( Aishiteru/I love you ). Also personally I like the font used in the international PS2 version vs. what's in the HD Remaster for example.

Honestly I think this game is fine as is. It holds up pretty well to modern standards. I'd rather have a remake of FF8 or 9, as those feel much more outdated in many ways.

Pretty sure the associations for the English translation weren't actually changed to "fit better" like you say. Rather, they were redone based on western mithology, with the originals perhaps being based on how the Japanese culture sees the planets, or on the Southern Pacific cultures that inspired the setting of Spira.

Exactly what I came here to say. Any Sailor Moon fan can tell you that in Japanese Mercury includes the kanji for water, which fits Wakka perfectly. Mars includes the kanji for fire, perfect for the black mage. Jupiter contains the tree kanji, fitting for a beast-man like Khimari. And Venus includes gold which fits our resident thief. (I believe that Saturn might have an association with death and/or time, but I'm not sure on that one. If so, it would be perfect for Auron.)

If you but an "er" on the end of "I want to be a blitzball" it would make the sentence correct. Blitzballer would be the correct way of saying a player in the game. That aside.... I think the HD updates to the visuals are just too jarring. I would love for them to remake the game in a newer game engine. Then fix Blitzball ... so you can edit costumes and have stats build based on activity in game and not hard coded.

you know yuna had sex with all the aeons right? now before i said anything im not trying to make it sound perverted or some kind of sex game. i cant believed all people that plays and has played final fantasy 10 dont know about this or doesnt realize it. thats how you get the aeons you have to make a contract with them. but this the game and all the japanese game or some of the japanese game are made for the westerner views the sex content is excluded. now believed me when i say this. because i know. the same thing with final fantasy 7 remake there were a lot of hotel and motels and the lover motels and the honey bee. now remember that i said its made for both east and west views so there will be no sex content. if you play the uncensored version of final fantasy 6 cele was capture and imprison they sexual abuse her in the cell but the american version they remove that. notice in final fantasy 10 yuna came out all exhausted thats because you know whats been going on in there and she been praying for how long in the chamber of trails? you can kind a guess how long she been having fun in there. and since yuna journey is to recruit as many aeons in her party you can imagine how many aeons she shacks with. trust if anyone think they said they know japanese people well you guys dont there are a lot of game that many people doesnt know that secretly miss in all the japanese games
