The funny thing is people argue what about leaving your friends and family. I've found that I don't have time to enjoy friends and family as I'm always working to make money to support my life here so when I do move my family will understand and I don't really have many friends. Also you only get one time around so you'd better enjoy it while you can.

I enjoyed this interview immensely! Great points were made, especially “when you have to define things it limits the possibilities” …I never really thought about it that way and it brings great relief on so many levels. I don’t need to have a permanent plan or have to choose a place to move abroad. That’s the beauty of life. I really enjoy your interviews Dan; you ask good questions and are very chill.

Thanks. I explore what other people are thinking until I have complete understanding rather than filter everything and react. That is something that I learned by being in the present moment with an interesting person rather than my minds thoughts about what they are saying. The interview is about them, not me. :-) Thanks for noticing. Dan

Malaysia Boleh! Been in Malaysia since August 2022. I stayed mostly in KL although I grew up in Penang. I’ve always came back from Canada and stayed mostly in Penang and only visited KL 2-3 days. However, this time I would like to spend sometime in KL to really explore this mega city! So far, I love it! The people, the foods, the excitement, the cultures.. wow! After almost 6 months in Malaysia, I still haven’t narrowed down to where I want to stationed. Most likely either Penang or KL. Anyways, another great video from Dan and Qiang!

"It just felt wrong, like a pebble in your shoe"...What a great Metaphor for "normal retirement". This is another great interview of 2 expats. You allowed them to share their history, experience, reasoning, etc...and the room you gave them really brought out their giddiness and the thrill they get living abroad...even after 4 years as expats...wow! So exciting and so inspiring. Thanks again Dan!

Awe, the curiosity…I love talking about our journey because I believe others can do it too. I would love to share. It started with the decision to retire early, then travel, and in between was a lot of soul searching, learning about dealing with clutter. Dealing with clutter is a huge story if anyone is interested. Either way we are at a place now where we are feeling really good about our choices. ❤ And in case anyone else reads this, no matter where you are life has its ups and downs, it is how you handle those that makes or breaks your day ❤

@@VagabondAwake I like the channel and the video. Everyone has a different budget so you could spend triple that and still be a bargain for you. But the underlining of how much it would cost somewhere else is a bit ridiculous. A room with no private bathroom can cost that much in some areas or you could get a much better deal elsewhere.

Nice to see people who take the leap to maximize their golden years exploring the world 🌎. You mention this all the time, one doesn't have to have it all figured out before starting. The experience comes from doing and learning as you go. Now with that said someone starting slow travel show get a basic KZbin education then graduate to targeted info like found in your membership section. Great video.... I always find it fascinating to watch Americans, especially Canadians (yes you are both in North America)... as they are just are constantly upbeat and elongate every vowel when speaking a foreign langauge... eg its not Cooooostaaaarrr Riiica, its Costa Rica.... short vowels... I digress and it makes me sound like a grumpy git.... I guess I would have just liked to have seen their eternal optimism tempered with a bit of reality, such as bureaucracy or that life just has to be taken slower, not bad things, but more real things.....otherwise it just sounds like they are visiting a "Disneyland".... and it was good to see Dan trying to encourage this in the conversation, but sadly not getting very far and just getting back "its amazing... I smile at someone and they all love me and want to speak English blah blah blah"
@deancoder8356
@deancoder8356 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you Ian that life is not “Disneyland.” The year prior to arriving here in Penang was filled with so many challenges that the slower pace here feels to be such a relief. We can’t speak to the bureaucracy here as we have not had to engage with it. In place of the phrase, “its amazing..” perhaps, no boss, no schedule, no snow, and short pants every day :-)
