Tekken 8 Story DLC implies that the Mishimas and the Mishima Style Karate descended from the japanese storm god _Susanoo_ and were tasked by him with hunting demons in ancient times. Which would explain their lightning powers, superhuman physique and how their clan rose to military power, high status and gained riches. Would also explain why Kazumi's clan - clan related to demons and the Devil Gene, targeted Heihachi for assasination, either for revenge or because they saw him overall as a threat. This backstory for the Mishima clan reminds me of the _Mikazuchi_ clan from the _Kengan Asura_ series.
