The best part is that he’s a southpaw which is a position in martial arts where your right hand is in front instead of your left, meaning Dante is left handed. Southpaw fighters in martial arts are usually known for being crafty, disrespectful, tricky but most importantly they got the SAUCE so them making Dante left handed just goes to show how fucking COOL Dante is.

I have to disagree seems it's for animation reasons. All his attack animations have to start with his right foot front, reflecting most sword- and weapon-based combat. And since he's so strong, he can fire guns from his front leg, instead of the normal back leg for recoil reduction. Not to mention, he's righthanded in EVERY cutscene, with the exeptions being for aesthetics purposes. Not sure if being left handed makes you "cooler" than being right handed, but we still got Nero in the lefty department. ...and reboot Donte, who's ambidextrous.

​@@solracstormhunter3023 I think they meant that Dante is southpaw when using his unarmed fighting styles, such as his boxing, capoeira, taekwondo and kickboxing. In DMC 5, his boxing stance is left forward, and I think the default is a flicker jab or Philly Shell type stance. I'll need to check, but I think his unarmed stances in previous games are also left forward, though a lot of his combos include stepping forward (which means the stance changes), to add weight to his hits. This includes his basic Gilgamesh combos, which both start with a step-forward left straight followed by a right body shot, followed either by a switch roundhouse (combo A) or a switch back-kick flurry into a reverse kick to roundhouse (combo B). In the games, this sort of stuff isn't very obvious because most of the player's attention is on the enemy and on reacting moment to moment, but these combos are very crafty and would be hard to deal with IRL (though some parts would have to be changed, such as the kick flurry, since we don't have the superhuman strength to put any kind of meaningful power into a flurry like that).

The thing i absolutely LOVE about dante is he went from some carefree, edgy, wild, wacky teenager who only cared about being alone, eating his pizza, and playing his guitar (or killing demons with it). I related to him so much as an angry 16 year old at the time of playing the games. As the games progess, dante is less angry and increasingly mature as he finally accepts his responsibility to protect humans from any outwordly danger. Hes not that deep but he doesnt need to be, he's just a guy who likes what he does.

For anyone wondering why Dante has different DT forms in 3, it's because of his inexperience, he was using the weapons he got as catalysts for his transformations (channeling his power through them) which is why they all looked different but as he got older he mastered the form lol

The dt design changes from 3 to 4 was cause his 3 form was imperfect, by 4 he mastered it and got the new look. Irl reason was cause his 3 design was made by the character designer/artist of shin megami tensei so they had to make a new look after for anyone that didn't know and wanted to know....even if it's been a year since the vid came out.
