There is a reason why episode 8 is taking so long. From many people who work with Viv and even Viv herself, they said there were some technical problems. I never heard of Helluva Boss until Saberspark did his review of Fairview. What impressed me was not just the animation, production, music, and design, but who they got for voice acting. Getting Richard Horvitz (Zim), Mara Wilson (Matilda), Maxwell Atoms (worked on Cow & Chicken, I Am Wiesel, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy), Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice from Teen Titans Go), Christina Vee (Sailor Mars and a TON of others), Norman Reedus (Darryl on The Walking Dead), and Erica Luttrell was a huge accomplishment for a KZbin Animated Show. And that's not to take anything away from the rest of the cast, which did a great job.

As a hobbyist animator on youtube, it’s annoying when something just. Takes longer to finish, watching the days stack up between videos is anxiety inducing but also motivating. What’s more motivating though are the few people that do comment, follow my dumb hobby and try to pick apart my vague story. I know a ton comes from Patreon support, as well as merchandising, but thats more or less the only stuff that I know of that has contributed notably with financing. Donations and Merch sales. Its really home grown all the way through if that is all there is to it.

She's had a Patreon going since at LEAST the start of development on Hazbin/Helluva. Also, as Helluva Boss episodes jump in complexity/quality, the time between episodes expands. Being able to be entirely flexible on TIME allows you to be much more flexible on money. Projects can chose two of Time, Quality, and Cost. Ignoring time allows her to focus on cost and quality.

To be honest, Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel are huge inspirations to me as a writer. As Saber said, the designs do come off as what people might consider "cringy" or "childish", but both stories really showed the myth behind weird "cringe" limitations people put behind character design. Heck , behind stories in general, really showing to me the value in loving your characters and story, even if it might come off as weird to others. Great video Saber, glad to see you cover this one

I love how much there is to analyze about this setting, and that it looks like it was done that way and kept internally consistent on purpose. My favorite bit of speculation is about the way the Hell natives like Octavia, Charlie and the hellhounds seems to be, well, less horrible people than the ones who were sentenced there, like the damned mortals and original fallen. There's no reason to be *good* down there (though changing that is Hazbin Hotel's whole thing), but it looks like the characters who were born in Hell don't glory in being scumbags like the ones who are there as a punishment...

EXACTLY, thanks for noticing that! Moxxie is a perfect example. He's an Imp, so he was born and raised in Hell, rather than sent there upon dying, and the dude actually has a moral compass. The entire first official episode's conflict revolves around him not wanting to ruin a family by murdering their mother for a job. Not to mention he and Millie have one of the most stable and wholesome relationships in LITERALLY HELL. I find it really interesting that beings that have been in Hell their whole lives can actually be better demons than the people sent to it.

I think the key difference is that sinners were actual scumbags or murderously violent people before they went to Hell, so the chance of any being benevolent is already pretty low (add to this the culture of Hell, including all the enabling of vices going on, and they're not likely to work on themselves either). The least evil sinner we've met was the psychotic teacher who still went and killed two people in blind rage. Hell's natives are just... people. Random folks who will have their personality determined by the environment they grew up in, and thus there is a good chance of them turning out well despite the horrible place still bringing out the worst out of most. It's basically a population that's already hand-picked among the worst humanity has to offer vs people that are born there and have no real set destiny or personality when they arrive.

Probably my FAVORITE thing about this show is the voice acting, particularly the ones with roots in musical theatre. A show that has good songs isn't as good if the people singing them can't, well, sing, and that's why I love that they hired people from the musical industry. It is an absolute treat getting to see some of my favorite Broadway actors being in this random animated series on the internet that I love, and going absolutely feral when a new one appears. I lost my damn gourd when Alex Brightman and Barrett Wilbert Weed were in the second episode, this series ended up in my finding Gentleman's Guide, a show from like 2014 the Bryce Pinkham was in, which has become my all time favorite musical, and James Monroe Igleheart absolutely killed it as Asmodeus. I cannot wait to see who they bring on next! (Also I reeeeeally hope that they give Barrett Wilbert Weed a song in this show)

Imagine the greenlighting process Vivzie and her team would have had to do had they gone for a traditional pitch and production route. I don't think any streaming or broadcast platform would have ever greenlit either this or Hazbin hotel -- and they knew that. Why waste the time trying to convince companies to give you a budget for something they would never air because it has "too many unknown names attached" or something. (Seriously the easiest way to get an animated show greenlit is if you're a popular comedian pitching it -- which is also what causes a lot of shows to be terrible as well.) Instead, skip it all, go straight to crowdsource funding and KZbin and prove that a greenlight review was never needed to begin with.

Happy to finally see your thoughts on this. As a fellow Elder Milennial, this series gave me fanboy-like tingles for the first time in EONS. My teenage stepson introduced his mother and I to this series and, as the edgy, Hot Topic demographic we were in our day, we were ecstatic to binge watch this with him. The fact that it just got better with every episode is just unreal. There isn't a single bad, or even remotely unentertaining moment in this series. It's refreshingly un-messed with. Despite being a newer series, this somehow hit nostalgia notes with my wife and I, both in our 40s. Vivziepop has given these two middle aged, early 2000s edgy Milennials a true gift, and the fact we were able to bond with our own teenagers over this series really speaks to it as a wonderfully crafted creation that has a soul.

1) That Episode 8 pitch is the most beautiful thing I watched with my own two eyes in recent times, long live Saberssen 2) Your analysis on Stolitz's relationship could not have been more perfectly described. It's such a refeshing relationship to unfold and watch, not just because it's an LGBTQA+ one (as many animated shows would painfully try to shoehorn in an obvous effort to gain street cred) but BECAUSE it's so deeply complex and complicated in what either character wants from the other. Contrary to the archetypes they initially almost portrayed, Stolas genuinely wanted a connection in someone who he actually enjoys being with without expectations, but Blitz is more guarded and distant than what his boisterous attitude would have you to believe. I love that it's not obvious if they'll end up together, let alone live happily ever after. I have always been around adult animation as a kid. my dad had no filter and would watch whatever he wanted on TV when me and my sister were around so I grew used to it. But i never enjoyed it... there were occasionally funny jokes and all but i always found most adult animation appalling at times and thought it was inappropriate just to be inappropriate. That is until i stumbled upon helluva boss and oh my god i was hooked. it was amazing how the show could be so funny and deep at the same time, and the characters felt so REAL and not just constant comic relief and stupidity. I'm one helluva fan of this show. I'm so happy KZbin hasn't ruined it and I hate how KZbin has treated shows of similar genres before, like you can't watch something without it being marked For Kids, which is the biggest BS especially when a bot automatically sweeps through and does that. Not all animation is for kids and it sucks the whole "For Kids" thing started was because parents complained when their kids were watching inappropriate stuff, but that was on THEM, not the site and they do have a KZbin Kids, which parents don't even consider. I even find it funny, when they do mark inappropriate stuff for kids, because it shows that their current system is really broken and it's something they can't fix until they reverse things. But honestly, I'm happy that Vivzie was able to manage through the odds and able to deliver something that's not easy at all to accomplish. Good on her and I can't wait for the day that Helluva Boss is a finished product and has an ending.

When I first heard Viv was making a show, I was stoked. Followed for a long time, really loved her style. Seeing Alastor in a preview had me locked. I was not ready for how much I'd love Helluva Boss. Those last 2 episodes, damn. Outstanding.

The fight scenes are my favorite. I love how inhuman the fights are because well they aren't humans; why would they fight like them? I loved watching Luna use her fangs to rip apart enemies, and how the imps can jump around and be crazy flexible and strong.
