With Atmospheric Autopilot, you can set G - and AoA limits to not rip your wings. For most planes, the G-Limiter should be enough to prevent ripping your wings off, the AoA limit just helps with planes that have way too much pitch authority.

For an explanation on flaps: flaps on low settings help with takeoff by increasing the aircraft's angle of attack, and therefore lift, so that you have enough lift at speeds when control surfaces actually start working allowing you to immediately get off the ground. Flaps at high settings don't have as much effect on upward lift anymore as they do drag, as at that point you may as well be lowering a massive wall down into the airstream. Flaps on a plane make the shape of the aero foil more aggressive, allowing for more lift with extra drag. It also essentially tips the direction of the foil upwards which also increases lift and drag

Wing area isn't the critical number for going fast. What you want is a low aspect ratio (which is to say make the wings longer towards the back and shorter to the sides) and a smooth crosssection. The latter you can find with Ferram Aerospace's Transonic Design feature. Try to make the green line as smooth as you can. The smoother, the easier you get up to speed. It's called the area rule. Not only that, in my experience at least, it feels like a smooth transonic profile also improves glide performance, but i might have just created a good glider on accident with that one. Also, if you decide to use airbrakes, make sure to have two of the same size, one on the top of the wing, the other on the bottom, and to make them deploy in opposite directions, as otherwise, you just get a massive control surface that wants to pitch you up/down. Very useful for later X-Planes.

I had the same bug with the airplane speed dropping. I solved it with a quick save and load, I'll try the method with removing the brake parachutes, thanks! Regarding the airplane wiggling on the runway at 22:29, try to disable the brakes on the front wheels, they should roll freely when braking.

The XPT-004 might have been wobbling on braking because of the brake bias. Generally speaking you want your rear landing gear to have more braking force than your front so that it stays straight. If the front has too much braking force the rear ends up trying to overtake the front because _✨inertia.✨_ Edit: also its worth mentioning if you have too much rear brake force, the front will dip, potentially bottoming out the front gear and tipping the plane to the side.

The reason your plane starts to wobble when you hit the brakes are your airbrakes. See, if you have them only on one side, they actually make your plane want to pitch up/down, depending on what side they are on. You should instead have two pairs of airbrakes, one going up, the other going down.

Far too late tip: Throttling down reduces engine temperatures, allowing you to extend max speed further up. Just takes very careful engine control.
