What's the ideal height and distance of jump to land a Quad Axel?! It seems Hanyu did not just try the jump, but study about the jump like a researcher. It's also very interesting to see his discussion with Kohei Uchimura, the gymnastic legend about landing 4A over the Japanese TV. So interesting we decided to read more about it.. PS: Uchimura Kohei had just announced his retirement from his gymnastic career. We wish him all the best in his next phase of life!

Figure Skating Fan A volleyball player -at abt 175 cm tall- can jump till 1.40 m, rising over net band till chest sometimes. My teacher did that. Maybe this could help. I know he is interested about everything that can improve his high jumps. Perhaps playing volleyball for a while...he will learn something new about improving the high of his jump. I know it is different but...just an ideea 🙂 Japanese volleyball players are also very good!! And fast!

That’s a weird comment. He has always been extremely athletic, breaking records in technical program as well as overall all these years, landing some of the jumps first etc. sometimes people make such a comparison with him and Nathan and arguing that Hanyu is more artistic of the two, which I could agree with, but that doesn’t mean he’s athletically far behind. Maybe that’s where the comments about being more of an artist than an athlete comes from, even though I agree, he’s the whole package. I really hope that he lands the 4a too! He has been working on it so much!

Yuzuru has committed "his life" to the successful landing of 4A. Now with 75cm of height, 3.1 m of distance, and 22 degree of taking-off, he is closer to the perfect form of 4A. Indeed, we can believe that only Yuzuru can do it. Unlike other skaters who just attempted 4.5 rotations or attempted to take-off with the wrong entry, Yuzuru has studied precise degree of the entry (taking off at 22 degree), height (to 80 cm), and distance (toward 4 m), and he practiced and trained himself to the extent that he has thought of a risk of dying on the ice. Although I don't want to see him retiring when he successfully lands 4A, I really hope that he could deliver his 4A at the Beijing 2022 and win the gold, both should be marked as the history-maker Yuzuru's achievement.

Everytime I watch anything related to him I can't help but smile, he brings me true happiness, whenever I feel sad I watch him. It makes me really happy to see his progress to achieve his dreams, it makes me want to work hard to achieve mine as well. When he lands the 4A I swear to god imma scream so loud that he is going to listen to it wherever he is at the moment lol
Yuzuru always had high standards, and to be the first to do a clean 4A in a competition is like a fight against gravity. But, with all his skills , knowledge, and power, I'm pretty sure he'll literally fly over the ice, to make this dream come true. Go for it Yuzuru !

Yes. As your correctly described Yuzuru, Yuzuru is a scientist, an artist, and a dancer, as well as an artistic skater. He uses intelligence, musical theatrical talent in his struggling practice. As Dr. Sakurai said, the angle or degree of the entry when Yuzuru started to jump into the air is 22 degree, which apparently surprised Koudei Uchimura, when he saw Yuzuru attempting the 4A. Kouehi said that this 22 degree or 22.5 degree to leap is the "optimal point" for a body to enter into the air, to reach the highest in the air for gymnastics and that he was shocked when Yuzuru did 4A jump because Yuzuru's entry was made at this optimal point of 22 degree.

Did you read it in the American press? They are building their narrative again. The 4A was a seed planted by Yuzu's coach when he was in elementary school. He said axel is the king jump. Yuzu is way beyond FS and way above the rest of the field. He doesn't compete with anyone but himself. It's irritating and ridiculous that this certain press is trying by hook or by crook to sell a certain story to fabricate a new hero. Their hero could have been appreciated more if the certain Press stopped their lies. Now the guy is regarded by real knowledgeable FS fans as a clown. It's also detrimental to lie to someone to make him believe he's great, it just doesn't encourage him to thrive for the better. People have eyes, they can see fake from real talent.

Thank you for creating this video with your accurate analysis of Yuzuru's attempt to achieve 4A. By "accurate," I meant that, as Kouhei and Takehito both agreed, this 4A can't be possible by anybody else, even by Chen, other than Yuzuru. Yuzuru has been studying human body mechanism, gravity with air, rotation and speed, the optimal degree pf the leap, the optimal point of a body in the air, and the "seconds" to keep the body and the landing. As you showed it here, 4A is very different from other quad jumps, and it is not about just the number of rotation or height or landing. It is about all elements of a human body. I really wish that the ISU recognizes what Yuzuru "discovered and demonstrated" in his 4A, which has been to expand the possibilities of a figure skating. Yuzuru took a risk of losing his life to achieve this 4A. He deserves a respect from the ISU.

There is another "astonishing" fact about Yuzuru's skating technique/skill. One of ice cleaning crews who have been working on the ice conditions, before, during, and after the skating games told this: "We have to make sure of of the flat, smooth conditions of the ice, and we always notice that the surface was gravely damaged, with holes or squid mark of edges, signs of the impact of jump landings of a heavy body, after other skaters completed their performances, but we never found such marks or holes after Yuzuru skated." To him, it is the proof and evidence that Yuzuru would jump as if his body were a bird or butterfly, and when he lands on the ice, he lands as if a piece of paper just were dropped over the ice. This is a remarkable difference between Yuzuru's genious-level of jumping technique and other skaters'.

can i request a video analysis on yuzuru most recent short program, and maybe compare it with his other sp cause i've been seeing a lot in twitter about how complex his ss and as a complete noob of this sport i believe your video will enlighten us fans more on his competitiveness as a skater and his athleticism. thank you, really love all of your analysis tho :) i hope you will keep on making more videos in the future
I just hope our boi doesn't injure his ankles or fall bad. Wish him success and safety for his future

12.5 points for this jump.... Let me get this straight - 2A = 3.3 pts, 3A = 8.0 pts, 4A = should be 20 pts base value....

if the scoring of the 4A followed the same interval as other quads, its BV would be around 17+ points. So 12,5 points is laughable.

Seriously I always joke with my friend like this. You run 21km in Marathon, they give you 5 points. You run full marathon, 42km, they give you double, 10 points. When you run 63km, they just give you 1 point extra. That's what I feel when they design these scoring. Soooo unfair!

yeah it's so laughable. I won't be surprise when Hanyu lands 4A but still lose to Nathan. Sorry no offense to Nathan, but it's just.. so unfair..

@@chunghuey113 Nathan Is always overscored and Yuzuru is always underscored 😔, the world is not fair thanks to ISU and corrupt judges.

They'll put the BV of 4A higher after Yuzu R. You'll see ... you know already ;-)

Только бы остался цел ! Опасный прыжок, и сколько раз нужно упасть, чтобы прыгнуть один раз на соревнованиях.
