Thank you so so much for the nice words! But we have to say this place is such an amazing canvas. There was not enough time in the day to capture it properly really. Every single corner at the horizon was epic, really a paradise for photography. Only problem was the wind , which makes one crazy and wanting to escape. 🙈 The drone shots were possible only when the wind gave us a break 😱

It was really incredible and super cozy to have a fireplace over 4000m . The dinner was delicious and with a tea and the heat from the fireplace, we were in peace and ready for a high altitude night. One of my favorites campspot of all time, and the fireplace was key to get it high in the list!

That was an exceptional video. Bravo! I can't believe how dry, windy, cold, and remote that area is. It really looks like another planet -- like you were on Mars, or someplace like it. All those abandoned towns and buildings were quite freaky but at the same time, fascinating and full of curiosities. That landscape looks like a perfect place to shoot a movie eg. a cowboy western, Star Wars, a Sci-Fi, or just a movie about 3 crazy travellers and a blue Landy!! 😉 You left us with a cliff hanger ending but I'm sure you managed to get Bluelandy up the rest of the hill somehow. (We hope!!) Best wishes to all 3 of you -- that's some tough travel but you've brought us viewers an amazing experience to watch!

To this date, the Puna region is up in the list of favorite places of all time. It is something you are not prepared for and cannot even believe how is possible to see so much beauty for hours. This is a perfect place to shoot such movies you mention, but they need to deal with the wind. Which was crazy and maddening! For sure this was and adventure that brought us together as a team, specially at the last part of the video where we got stuck in a very dangerous place.

Why does the snow on the Puna melt into fins?? I've seen that in other videos, especially Iohan Gueorguiev's. I've never seen that phenomenon in Canada, even in our near-desert regions. That feeling that you have to consciously inhale is usually caused by anxiety, being short of breath can cause anxiety, which causes shortness of breath, it's a feedback loop in the mind. What an awesome adventure!
@Thebluelandy
@Thebluelandy 6 ай бұрын
In Spanish they are called "penitentes" they normally occur in high altitudes, so that's most probably why you haven't seen those in Canada. They were first described by Darwin! It's basically because there are parts of the snow that melt/sublime at different speed. In colder climates, especially at higher altitudes where penitentes form, the dew point can often be below freezing. This low dew point is crucial because it allows for sublimation of snow - the process where snow transitions directly into water vapor. And the wind and sun, at this altitude allows some parts to sublime and others to melt!

Hey guys, thanks for sharing your travels with us. Just a thought- rocks are an important part of the habitat for all kinds of small creatures, especially in sensitive desert ecosystems. That barrier wall you’re creating is potentially really disruptive. It’s also not following ‘leave no trace’ principles to leave it there when you leave camp. Perhaps you can come up with some sort of reusable barrier that you carry with you? Safe travels ✌🏽
@Thebluelandy
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
Hey and thanks for your comment. In this case I really have to disagree with you. You are right stones can or are part of the ecosystem. In this case we are in a desert that’s basically made out of stones. There is no shortage of stones to hide. And the only sign of life that we found lifting stones was toilet paper….. I think leaning the walls is not a problem if there is a good build shelter other travelers will not need to build additional wind protection and therefore not move more stones. Additional this were places that are crisscrossed by road and paths a small Wall that can even habitat for lizards has not really an impact. A reusable barrier is not really possible, there are wind gusts from over 50kp/h and the soil is so rocky that you hardly can use tent nails…

I don't agree! In many remote areas people (like nomads in the desert) have always built shelters for protection against wind/storm/sand. It is in the rules of nature that human beings have a brain to survive in rough conditions (as shown!) and this will not at all disturb the balance of nature.

The bluelandy starts to lose power at 4000m in altitude. From there we haven't felt it get worse(exponentially or so). It was really having no issue to start( well , we ha problems with the starter, but that's another story), cold temperatures was worse. Regarding us, we didn't have problems with altitude sickness there, we did a good acclimatization the previous days and our bodies were prepared. But this kind of altitude is no joke.
