Thinking about changing our information in our channel. And remove"full-time overland journey around the world". What should we write instead?
@AuszeitEineReise

How about reducing it to „full-time exploring the world“. All your activities (driving, kiting, climbing, shopping, getting water…) are undertaken in different landscapes, different cultures and with different people you interact with. So with all these activities you explore the world. Regards from a couple who’s living since 3,5 years in an expedition truck - and from time to time traveling with our LR Defender 😊

there is no so much more in life than you experience. you are working while are free to explore and enjoy the world as you want Helping others to see, imagines or re experience travels that for any reason, we could not do. I hope you can monetize at least partially your great work. I would like to see more happiness in your faces. perhaps interacting more with others, stopping at some hotels or doing some hedonistic activities. thank you for been our alter ego😅

The reason I like to watch ‘overlanders’ is that I get to see and enjoy places that I will never be able to get to. It is also interesting to see the shops, architecture, etc in other countries. Don’t stop what you are doing 😁

Life is about having experiences. Overlanding is a method for having those experiences. We are currently wandering Tasmania doing the same. Don't overthink it - just enjoy and share.

Exactly!! Really spot on, "is a method for having those experiences" . And therefore its normal that only that might not be enough in the long term. Sometimes one needs to stop, and think if one is diverting from what one really wants. This was the time to do it ! Enjoy Tasmania, I heard is spectacular!!

Variety is the spice of life! You just have to alternate driving and camping with as much alternative activities as you desire and/ or can afford to do. The rock climbing and kiting were great choices. 😊
@Thebluelandy
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
Yes!! For me (Irati) it took longer to realize this. I kind of go by phases, where I give all my time to one thing and then change. And for more than 1,5 years doing one thing primarily is great to get comfortable with it but I needed some variety. Kai had it more clear from the beginning, for him is more about traveling to reach the places and the activities he likes. Sadly we haven't been able to do as much as we wanted (surfing for example). But I guess is a matter of setting priorities? Kiting was great as we had been talking about it for a while. Still don't know how we will continue with it. Let's see. And climbing it's even better. But more to that in future episodes!

Hey!! Thank you so much for watching our videos and taking the time to leave a comment!! I wanted to experiment a bit with the video(this is how one gets better) , and thought it could be good, as we experienced some changes in our way of thinking about the trip and wanted to share it actively. This way, those that are starting their journey can take some of our learnings in consideration for their trips. Some might find this interesting and others completely irrelevant. I really appreciate your feedback on this, as I learn tons from what you write in the comments. So, that's why I would like to ask you (because I don't understand), what do you mean like other overland people? Thank you again and looking forward some insights 🙌🤗

It could be boring to have a channel only about driving from place to place. Life is about adventure, joy, and doing activities that make us happy. I think your viewers would be happy to watch your smiling faces doing activities that you are passionate about; activities that bring joy. I like watching people having fun. It can be as simple as friends getting together in a social event or a couple enjoying a meal. It's also about the love. It's about the story, the journey, the people you meet, and how you perceive it. It's about the love you are willing to share. I'am a nurse, and I am very passionate about my work. If I were to start a channel about my experiences as a nurse (I will not) I might share how a patient came back from surgery and suddenly started having uncontrollable body chills, etc, etc, and how his loved-one helplessly watched and freaked out "what is happening?" while I calmly escorted her away so we could get her husband back to surgery and fix a stent that needed fixing; or I would share how I calmed a patient who thought he was going to die from a simple hernia repair; etc. We want to know your plans; your dreams; and listen to your stories. It's like your writing your memoirs or journal in living color and we get to share a part of your life.

I had a smile the whole time while reading your comment! Massive thanks for these words of wisdom! Yes, we need to find balance and mixing activities and getting out of the comfort zone it makes the whole journey richer overall. Both kiting and climbing brought incredible joy and playfulness to our trip. And that's what is all about. As you mention everything is just part of our personal living colour journal. ❤️🙌

Very interesting observations on the 'overlanding' concept as we understand (or think we do) in general. I am unfortunately not in a position (because of total lack of experience) to advise or submit constructive views. However, I have been enjoying your 'overlanding' experiences tremendously so far -therefore I am sure that whatever adjustments you decide on for the future will most definitely be enjoyable, entertaining and of informative value. Take your time and let the Blue Landy future more come from within than from outside. First and foremost it is your life and your trip. Go slow and go safe. Best for now.

Thank you so much Henry for your words. I love reading the words "is your life and your trip" absolutely! Sometimes people forget that we are not here for getting famous, rich or living from KZbin. We took this trip for us, as we knew we would regret it for the rest of our lives if we didn't. The KZbin videos came later(for me, Irati) as I enjoy massively putting our story together in a creative way through video. It's something we decided to share to create a community and learn from the journey. It's a lot of work, which doesn't pay bills, but its value doesn't lay on the money, but rather the incredible memories we are putting together from an already one-in-a-lifetime trip. Thanks again and see you around 😎

It's maybe a question of purpose and goals? If you had a mission important to you even everday chores would be towards that mission and every kilometer driven, too. Or if you see travelling more like an idle holiday, ask youself what would you like to do if you had only two weeks of time and do a sequence of holidays. Why not stay for weeks in the same location? Get to know the people, culture, language in more depth, feel at home for while. I never really understood why some overlanders seem to feel the need for endless driving. As much as I like driving a Landy 🙂

About "mission" from the Hitchhiker's: Bowerick Wowbagger "the Infinitely Prolonged" was a being who became immortal.... After a period of total boredom, especially on Sunday afternoons, he decided to insult everyone in the entire universe - in alphabetical order. 😄

I love this!! And I agree. There are times one really breaths for one activity or task. The best climbers spend most of their day either climbing or/and training, checking and improving gear, analyzing routes, planing projects, etc. Everything is towards the goal. 100% right on that! But when that goal is achieved even if it's just the beginning of the next goal, there are times for other matters that don't have anything to do with it. And yes, taking time in places is actually one of the things we have learnt over time as well. That's why we spent 5 weeks at the farm in Namibia and 6 weeks surfing in Peru. These have become some of our highlights in the trip!

"Overlanding" is just vehicle dependant travel. That is it. The concept is of course that you investigate your surroundings as they contnually change, you have to unfortunately do the mundane things like shopping and stock replenishment and of course fixing the servicing the vehicle. But that is part of the journey. There is no expectations or demands on you, if you want to stop in the same place for a week or two, do so, change country, continent, it's all part of the journey, (Journey: an act of travelling from one place to another.) so yes, you do more than "overland" while you full time overland... it's not like you buy a house every few weeks when moving from place to place. It is good to reflect on what you're doing and if it feels right, a lot of people one day think "this life is not me anymore" and stop to do something different. maybe it's your time, maybe it's not? But here's the thing, you guys are benefide, 100% overlanders, overlanding! One other thing, remember life is a journey. :-)

Those are very wise words! And yes, we forget sometimes that life is a journey and therefore there is soooo much variety of things to experience. Everything counts ,big or small to what you become and it's wise to stop once in a while to see if the journey feels right at the time. We love Overlanding and many other things, we will keep on enjoying the journey and sharing some glimpse of it through videos!

Another activity that goes nice with overlanding is mountain biking. Well maybe it would be not that easy to carry two bikes everywhere you go, but on the other hand it is allways there anywhere you stop :]

So what did you get wrong about overlanding? Are you saying that longer trips aren't fulfilling? I do 3 month trips because my busy schedule doesn't allow longer. At the end of 3 months I am ready for a change.
@Thebluelandy
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
That Overlanding only as activity is not fulfilling in a the long-term( for us at least). When traveling for so long is more about living on the road, and therefore just doing one thing ( in this case Overlanding)is not fulfilling, no. And that adding other activities and interests is necessary.
