The comparisons to Matt's wrecker, which I love are like apples and oranges. They are both wreckers, and both will go off road, but of course this one will haul way more weight when finished, and Matt's will go way more places than this one ever will. Comparison is the thief of joy. Just enjoy them both for the awesomely fabricated vehicles they are.

@@Jamez3l well that’s just my point tho, it’s not a wrecker, it’s a crane more than anything. Matt’s has actual wrecker functionality and this is just a 20,000 boom crane that they’ll take down trails as a 6x6. It’s not apples to apples, Heavy D just giving it a Wrecker title to get engagement. It’s working, but still dumb imo.

Here’s my prediction 1; it will breakdown on first deployment.2; it will be too big and cumbersome for any MOAB trails. Rory Irish does more with Trailmater than any of these giant wreckers and he does it every day. I’m always interested in the builds but reality is they are more show than go. But as an aside his two main fabricators are amazing.

Could we see close-ups of the welds that stitch this monster together? The cross-bracing of the main beams and those that secure the axles to the beams. They look very well done. Will the Dura-Max be capable of hauling all the weight around with the projected installation of the rotator assembly with the lift arm? Maybe 30K? Seems like more power will be necessary. You should see what he built as his beast of a wrecker. I do feel a little bit sorry for his 50% lung capacity but he is a super trooper. When he's able to post a video using his military skills in off road trucks, it is fun to watch. Casey LaDelle and Troy have done some amazing clean ups in the Forests of Oregon. No way this can "properly" rock crawl with that setup...zero articulation and crazy long wheel base. Also I can only imagine the width limitation...very edge case build but that being said freakin cool man...beast mode enabled.

I don’t know if you saw the axels…. They are very articulate. 😉
@TheStealthbob

@@SparksMotorsCo Yea I guess I was a little hyperbolic, seriously tho respect man. I guess I will have to see it, it may have the range for articulation but those springs are so heavy will they actually compress when needed? Rock machines are unforgiving with their requirements, always a trade off to be made. Seems heavy on the size (pun intended) to be effective for the 80 percentile type recovery but I get it, its just cool to build cool and nothing wrong with that.

@SparksMotorsCo is it gonna even have the duramax that was in the humvee? Not saying it isn't cool looking but it looks like the shit we as rednecks used to do like slapping a mustang body on a bronco II frame and mudding it... what about it will still be a humvee besides the body sitting on massive truck frame rails?

The huge difference between Matts off road recovery wrecker and every other "worlds largest off road wrecker" is Matt uses his daily in a real local business. Everyone else builds for youtube then tows once in a while.

Looks like it 3.5 to 4 tons either way hows it going to do in tight spots. Also was wondering are yall going to supercharge it or go with a triple turbo setup to move it lol. Can't lie with a twin turbo supercharged bulletproof duramax with a Allison transmission would be a pretty wild ride.

When squaring something long use the 3 4 5 rule. If something is 3 foot long and 4 foot wide, measure from the 3' to the 4' it should be 5' it square. If you apply multiple of each leg it has to be applied to each. Like 15' 20' when square it will be 25' if square.

very curious what the use case will be. Obviously not small trails to get a side-by-side out of the mud or whatever. So, like... crashed planes? 18 wheelers that drove off a bridge? Those seem like a suuuuper niche markets.

Hey, you have a 4x4 El Camino, right? Ever think of building a crewcab 4x4 El Camino? There's one on the internet, but it's just a wagon with the roof cut off, and only 2 wheel drive. You need a wagon or 4-door, but you have to cutoff the back end, including the rear window and weld on an El Camino box, including rear window.. If you look at the angle of the door on an El Camino, it is the same angle as the back door of a wagon and 4-door. Why? Why not? One of one.
