Hey man, i just want to say i find your content amazing to watch from multiple different perspectives. On one hand the games you talk about and the style in which you do talk resonate with me. I love games like Hunt, Tarkov and learning about subjects like NVGs and realistic ballistics but have fallen out of actually playing these games, and your content reconnects me to things I love. You also talk about games I'm extremely excited for, bringing a unique perspective on them that i just couldn't get else where as well as broadening my own knowledge on what those games are actually going to be like. On the other hand I just recently graduated with a Bachelors in Film, with a primary focus in audio recording/mix and editing. Watching your edits and listening to the work you put in with your audio is amazing. One of my favorite things about your videos is the little audio ques or transitional noises that go along with your edits and each and every one reminds me why i love audio and that effort going into video production is so satisfying. I'm also having a relatively hard time finding a purpose, and your videos remind me why i want to do what i went to college for, and watching you make videos on things that you think are interesting reminds me that whatever i find for myself, it doesn't need to be some crazy thing, it can just be what i find interesting or fun and that I'm capable of doing that. Also we all get Imposter Syndrome, don't put your own efforts down on these videos, each one is a work of art in it's own right, each one is a piece of you that you have shared with the world. They are works of art just as the video games that they are about are and your videos have their own stories to tell. I can't tell you the amount of times I've come away from productions and thought everyone else put in so much more work, and I honestly still believe they do, and I'm just riding off their coat tails. I understand the feeling. But your work is amazing, and don't think that the art you make doesn't deserve its spot. I'm Gates, and I'm here to watch your content.

I appreciate you making this video, Riloe. I was debating starting to make videos in a video essay style since those videos tend to take off a bit more than other types. Thanks to your video, I know that I shouldn't do that and should continue trying to hone my skills on videos I actually want to make. My strong suits are having fun, humor, and being real which are not suited for video essays anyways. Congratulations on 100k!

It's so validating to hear that when it comes to making videos, everyone else is just as worried about the exact same things. Just before the pandemic I started, and I made a bunch of videos on Arma 3 goofing off with friends. Luckily they took off, and I deleted/unlisted what I made before. I was actually _happy_ when my name was included on the "Armatuber" list in someone's video, because I thought that I had finally "made it." Problem is, eventually I didn't want to play any more Arma. When I stopped making vids on it, I went from tens-of-thousands or even hundreds-of-thousands of views to hovering at 20K, and these days I'm lucky to break 5K views on a video. I went from an early-to-mid-20s dork making goofy vids to now a late-20s narrative-based writer, working on starting a studio for some independent writing projects and joining a friend's channel to make video essays. I'm finishing a final video for this channel, then I'm logging off this account and never returning to it. As I work on video essays for a new channel and try to improve my writing for some personal projects, it's genuinely comforting to find your video and hear someone else say that they worry over whether or not I'm going to be typecast all over again. Thanks, man. Looking forward to whatever you make next, particular subject matter be damned.

I truly do like that text you cited at around 15:10. To me, it feels applicable to not just KZbin but life as a whole, and is an interesting thing to think about in my perception. Ultimately, its all just a gamble in the end. I’m glad to hear Riloe not wanting to pigeonhole himself into his early video subjects. I can’t remember the very first video of his I watched but I thought it was solid, professional and all round engaging to watch but when I delved into his catalogue of largely tarkov and tarkov adjacent themes I was kind of bumbed. That’s not really a world I circulate. Seeing now he is branching out and getting to hone his skills more excites me. He has a unique flare in just about every aspect of his presentation that I can’t wait to see more of. From this video, Riloe seems to be quite analytic and smart and blends bias/preference and facts-of-the-matter well. Congratulations on the milestone. Cheers, sir.

Cheers, I first found you via the Forever Winter and without that I might not have learned about the game and it has quickly jumped to one of my most anticipated games this year. I think you have done a great job at self reflection on your strengths and I really enjoy the long form content you have done on top of the uniquely "yours" style. I often find a lot of long form content on KZbin boring as the videos themselves feel too much like a podcast of sorts or just edited content from a stream but you are one of the few content creators whose videos I watch from start to end. I suppose the TLDR of this comment is just you are doing a great job carving out your niche I'll keep watching your videos as your authenticity really does shine through your work.

cheers. The last two new games you've covered are already in my library(gzw), or on my watch list for waiting on their release(forever winter). I feel like one of the homies, and a lot of the likes and interests you approach these videos from, are ones I also deeply enjoy. It reminds me of the fond memories of watching the original GitS film with my dad years ago, and how my now late mother as of december, would always tease him about his love of 80-90 adult anime. You talking about the things you like, is why I will always be a viewer, and I will continue to support you here with my sub and likes. Seeing your work also encourages me to keep going on my own tiny channel, and making videos of the game I enjoy playing with friends. Hopefully in the near future, I can start making content on more of the creative projects we've been working on narratively in our writing community. And know, that your insight has been a big point of thought around details of many of said projects. Thank you for taking those inspirations of your passions, and inspiring us with them as well.

Cheers for the honesty and transparency. I think that's the main reason I want to watch, actually watch, all your videos from beginning to end. I don't want to discount your experience, skills and values that obviously have a huge impact on the final cut but I think that might be the biggest part for me, feeling like I can trust you and catching your excitement for a game. I've noticed that transparency is something you've praised game devs for with your forever winter and beautiful light videos. I also hear the impostor syndrome thing coming through, and while it's understandable, it's a burden you shouldn't be carrying. You aren't a game dev? ok . . . (most) game devs don't and can't do what you do, the footballer isn't a sports commentator. We are all standing on the shoulders of giants and while I don't need video games or to learn about them, I appreciate both a hell of a lot. Keep it up, I appreciate you :)

You definetely stand out from other creators, your videos feel both quite introspective and almost 'academic', in the way you tackle a topic. And presentation is spot on.

It's so cool that, as a CG artist myself, I can 'sense' your artistic context in your videos. You are basically an artist creating videos for other artists and giving full credit to the artists who made the game you are featuring (very confusing, I know, haha)! Super cool! Thank you.

You trying to offer something insightful with every video definitely shows. The reason I've been glued to every one of your videos is because they're everything but sludge. Too many videos on this platform only care about success, but not about being succesful at making something good. Please keep doing what you're doing! ❤

Your first video on Forever winter was the first one I saw and the combination of your very genuine enthusiasm for the game and the fact that it might be the most appealing game concept and world I've seen in years, if not ever, has me hooked. Then I watched a few more like your quad-tube NVG video and the PMC Gray zone video and loved them too. They also happen to be right up my alley of weird semi-niche intersecting interests, even though I never played or even heard much about GZ, and never playing Tarkov. I'm happy that you're aware and actively trying to avoid locking yourself into a specific game, because while I never played Tarkov or GZ, and never liked Cod beyond the first two, I feel we that we might still share a lot when it comes to our taste in games. Your artistic and research work really shine through as well. Keep up the good work, I hope to watch a lot more of your content in the future, just take care to not burn yourself out. Take the time you need, there are always other stuff to watch while waiting for the next one. :)

Cheers, man. Feeling like people show up because you are riding the coat tails of another's art sounds like a complicated feeling. But if those people STAY, it's because of YOU. I'm one of those people. I really enjoy how varied your different flavors of content are, because through all of them your enthusiasm always shines through. Can't quite put my finger on it, but your style of presentation hits just right. Looking forward to see where you take your content!

Still the best gaming related channel out there, glad you're getting some recognition for the hard work! I'm sure you have thought about it quite a bit, but I really think your essays that cover genres, trends, psychology around the gaming, etc. that are not specific to one game are the way to go for you to retain your freedom and flexibility going forward. They will appeal to people from a wider audience without tying you to a specific title. Whatever you end up doing, I'm sure to keep following so congratulations for the first of many 100ks to come!

You said you feel like you don't deserve the subs because your work is based off of someone else's art. You got my sub after the first video I watched because you turn the subject matter into art of your own. I've been watching gaming videos for I don't know how long. Your voice, perspective, and style are unique to this platform. It's fresh and engaging and that's why people watch.

What hooked me was the quality that I could see existed through the editing. All the fancy editing or writing skills in the world won’t substitute the physical content and information, it just delivers it in a pretty box. “Video Essays” tend to leave a sour taste in my mouth because they’re typically written/edited to pad video length, assumes the audience has grade school intelligence, or the author themselves isn’t knowledgeable enough to address the topic. What I see in your videos is passion, wisdom, and knowledge in your topics, in a market oversaturated with glittered up noise. From there it’s left to chance for good content to be shown to enough people to begin picking up momentum in the algorithm
