We’re twins! I never go anywhere without my Assioma Duo Shi power meter pedals. IMO, this is one of the biggie advantages of pedal based power meters. 🎉🎊🙌🥰

Agreed! Honestly, post 2019, I don't know why any road cyclists opt for crank based if they are buying a PM retail. The additional metrics and flexibility you get with no loss in accuracy (not to mention cost efficiency) blows crank based power out of the water. And I am pretty sure every pedal/cleat configuration has a viable option now. I would probably lean more toward crank-based for gravel, mountain, or cross if the terrain I spent most of my time in was extra muddy or the potential for pedal impact was high. And even then, I would be very torn. But essentially, the space liability to bring them anywhere is a pair of shoes with pedals and wrench stuffed inside. Can't beat the efficiency! I'm just glad to see so many hotels with spin bikes... and no one is ever on them when I go in 👍

@@EverythingIsPhotogenic Perfectly put. Accessing real time left-right power balance from my Assiomas is very, VERY important to me as my left leg is weaker then my right after sustaining several injuries over the years. The Assiomas help me keep my left leg "honest" and do its fair share of work each pedal stroke.

I used to do this (and still do) when traveling for work. I recommend bringing all tools for servicing them, spare batteries, and double check that you have the correct shoes for the pedals. On more than one occasion I have brought my spd shoes with spd-so pedals. Also, hotel WiFi can be spotty so it’s worth bringing a device with a cellular hotspot. Finally, put lots of towels down beneath the bike so cleanup is easier and faster.

Being a professional longrange pilot for a long time I‘m trying to do a lot of my zone 2 and strength training when I’m away from home, because that‘s what I can do for sure on any layover with most kinds of bikes and the usual fitness equipment available in almost any hotel. I admit it‘s a bit more work to enter additional numbers manually after a workout to garmin connect but including the data of my garmin watch that‘s sufficient for me….

I'm probably being a little too exacting sometimes in my aversion to manually entering data. I have enough experience and a large enough data set to manually edit TrainingPeaks or related platform data, especially for steady-state work. I have been using power for so long on the bike that I am rather attached to capturing those numbers with consistent fidelity. I definitely need to be better about not using the absence of that option as a deterrent, even if it is for multiple days. If a hotel I go to doesn't have a spin bike option, I can still get on and do a steady ride and not lose anything. I'm just being a brat 😂😂

I was about to post you can bring garmin power pedals to use on hotel pelotons since that's what I've done, but you beat me to it!

I never thought I would be so thrilled to see spin bikes everywhere 😄

That's funny. You were in Chicago at the same time my co-workers were for a convention. Second of all, it is unacceptable to have a video without Teddy or Kitten. Oh, you ask, why did you not say first of all first? Because WTF was with that wallpaper! It's all I could watch during the whole video😂. Also, with regard to taking pedals off with a 15 mm wrench and having no leverage, that is exactly what the iron is for. Bring the iron with you and use it to bang on the wrench. You are very welcome!😂

Dumbell smash!! 🤣 And listen, if I wouldn't look like some crazy cat lady, and he wouldn't absolutely hate it, I would totally take Teddy and Kitten along with me 😁

Team dinners are always frustrating form me, I’d rather get into the fitness room. Maybe find a 7” long pvc tube that you could slide over the wrench for extra leverage. I take a zwift footpod just to ensure compatibility for using a treadmill with Zwift.

Yeah, if anything I wish we would just go straight after work, there's not enough time between for a decent workout, and I have train much later than I would like. But it's much more reliable and conducive to decent recovery than getting up at 4 AM. I have my old V1 Stryd that forever lives in my backpack, so I am always ready for a Zwift run in a pinch!

I took my single sided Assioma pedals with me on deployment along with my laptop for TrainerRoad.

Just discovered your channel through your old PVC videos , I’ve just started to get some myself and like yourself am a massive zwifter (been on since 2016) , just wondering if the magnesium worked over time for your arrythmia?

This may be a dumb question. Do you have any grease to apply to pedal threads? Great video! My cats are sad by not seeing Teddy. However, they asked if you would say hello to Teddy for them when home?
@EverythingIsPhotogenic10 ай бұрын
Not a dumb question at all. I didn't really consider bringing the grease along because of the short duration they would ne installed and not having to worry much about corrosion, but it wouldn't be a terrible idea to have a single use packet in my bag in case I run into a bike with some grungy threads 😁 Teddy says hello back! He hates when I am gone, and he hates it even more when I do videos without him! 😾

@EverythingIsPhotogenic My cats are thrilled to hear from Teddy. After I asked the question about grease, I began to question the TSA criteria on liquids. I did see that olive oil is acceptable, but I didn't find anything like typical grease used on pedal threads. I saw that olive oil is acceptable. In a pinch, I'm sure olive oil could work for a one-time use. If you don't have time to ride, you could always use it on a salad. Thanks for replying!

Good for you to bring your own pedals. Personally I curse Peloton's decision to not incorporate any type of fan with their bikes every time I go to the fitness center and use one when traveling.
@EverythingIsPhotogenic10 ай бұрын
Right? I sweat much less than the average bear, and I shed heat very easily with even a modest breeze. Doing a high zone 2/low zone 3 ride on that thing.... I was disgusting! The gyms should have fans, but it seems like even a small bolt-on would fit in the peloton footprint!
