You are so much more than what your grades or experience say about you, remember it.
In this video, I share my journey through University from when I decided to become a Consultant, more than 3 years ago to when I actually became one.
Despite starting off University with the worse grades possible, and no experience, I have achieved my goal. The formula I used is repeatable and that's what I explain in the video.
Hopefully, you can achieve your career goal as well!
Be clear about what you really want, even if you're not 100% sure, write it down and divide that goal into small & achievable steps.
This "simple" strategy got me interviews at the Big 4 Firms (Deloitte, KPMG and PwC, EY didn't have any job postings at that time), IBM, Sunlife, Gorilla Group and more during my last semester even if I didn't have the best grades nor the best internships on my CV (I had none lol).

Cannot agree more with this! Similar to you, I thought I lacked the relevant experience to get my foot through the corporate industry. I started at one of the big 4 as a consultant without a master degree 2 years ago.... I first thought it's was a glitch in their program when scanning CV's, but they were just more interested in me as a person than in my degree. I took an analytical test, did an interview and I could start. Now they are supporting me to get my master degree because clients are not that forward thinking yet....

Great video man. I interviewed big 4 firm for Assistant Manager, first round was with Manager where she asked me questions based on situation and problem solving. I passed. In second round with Associate Director he asked me similar problem. Again my Business understanding was great as per him. But he didn't ask me anything about my leadership style, my people management etc. Anyways thanks for this video.

I’m 32 now, I was in project management IT consulting work before but got burned out. Then I took 3 years to work as spiritual life coach and working at service industry so I definitely have leadership skills and people skills. Now I’m eager to go to management consulting and I need to gain better analytical thinking skills. Also a masters degree (could I skip this though?)

Another good point would be to network with students/professionals in your major. Despite having not so good grades or internship experience, being friendly with peers and professionals could help you get interviews! Recruiters often can't put a face to the name which makes it easier to judge you based on grades/experience alone.

But my grades were absolutely crap and banking required top grades, on top of finding out I had a baby along the way. I thought the best way to balance my grades were to start working full in finance, which luckily I landed a permanent role within year 2 of uni. Now finding out about consulting, I seem to now have a a couple of interviews lined up for consulting firms, but found networking through friends got me past the hurdles of crap grades. P.s. I think this just shows that being a consultant isn’t a demanding career in terms of technical skills. There are old boomers in consulting and people like you and I with trash GPAs. Fact is that consulting companies do the majority of hiring in the US. Most what you learn in say Computer Science, IT, or even Information Systems is overkill/academic for what clients actually need. Be proud of your accomplishments but let’s not act like consulting requires elite intelligence or skill.

You've got no idea how much this motivated me. I was an almost straight-A's student for most of my life, up until my junior year in college when I got caught up in personal challenges which brought me and my grades down horribly, and as a first-gen college graduate, I was never truly taught the importance of internships, so I have navigated most of this whole career path on my own and have been doing all I can to continue to learn more/as much as I can to at least land an interview. I also feel like I don't have the most consulting-related experience to seem attractive to a recruiter/companies, but this video made me feel so much better and you truly inspired me.
