It's a huge undertaken from someone who only did yoga...until doing this course! However I love it and love movement! I'm also doing my personal training course at the same time. I recently completed a mat Pilates instructor course and was extatic to teach others and do something I enjoy. I also realised how sexist the industry can be being male how employers are only looking for female instructors as being male can make other clients feel uncomfortable. I was turned down numerous times and even was told by one employer nobody would hire a male Pilates instructor. I haven't given up and will still continue to find work in the industry
@MargaretElizabethLLC2 жыл бұрын
There are definitely a LOT of issues in the Pilates/Fitness industry. But you will find a good fit for you!! And that is absolutely not true that 'nobody will hire a male instructor'!! One of my mentors is male- he is knowledgeable and clients love him. There are a ton of big name instructors too that are male, so that studio has no clue, and obviously has such an outdated way of thinking!!

Hi, I’m considering becoming a Club Pulates instructor & want to work part time. I am 64 & just completed 100 plus a few classes myself. I believe in it- it has helped me. I want to be able to make around $400-$500 per week. Is this realistic part time? Any advice? Thank you

I don't know what the pay is like at Club Pilates! I would ask your instructor at CP or see if you can talk with the manager of the Club that you go to! Pay varies a lot between different studios & in different states!

Do pilates instructors get benefits such as health, vision and dental?

It depends where you teach - but because we are typically 1099 contractors, we don't get benefits

How was anatomy taught at the start of your training? How intensive did they get into it? I'm super interested to become an instructor, but I was wondering if I should get a head start before starting the actual program because I'm coming in cold re: biomechanics
@MargaretElizabethLLC3 жыл бұрын
So I had to do a whole anatomy course before I even did my teacher training. I had previous anatomy and physio experience from college and from my personal training cert, so I wasn't going in completely blind. Any teacher training is going to go pretty in depth with anatomy but if you don't have the base knowledge it wouldn't hurt to get a head start!

I am thinking of doing this, however I want to do it at a community college do you kow if that is better? or what it might cover?
@MargaretElizabethLLC2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you want to do with it! If you want to teach in person and are looking to get a studio job you'll want a Pilates Training program that is accredited through the Pilates Method Alliance. If you are looking just to get college credit, it would be fine. But I honestly don't know of any programs are offered through community colleges!

I'm interested in the reformer and barrel. Can we skip the mat and just do the reformer and barrel course?
@MargaretElizabethLLC3 жыл бұрын
It depends on what kind of program you do! But I think most comprehensive trainings let you pick which modules you want to do!
@Thepilateschick3 жыл бұрын
@@MargaretElizabethLLC most comprehensive training you have to do all the reformer, mat, barrels, Cadillac, chair ect. You can’t pick and choose with peak and they are the top of the line for teacher training
@MargaretElizabethLLC3 жыл бұрын
@@Thepilateschick I am rereading the comment that I made, you're totally right, to do a comprehensive training you would have to do all the modules to then be comprehensively certified. What I meant was that with some trainings if you don't want to do the whole training or be comprehensively certified, like if you are doing training just to learn and not to teach, you can take individual modules.

How do you get international certification for Pilates coach?
@MargaretElizabethLLC Жыл бұрын
I don't know for certain because I haven't had to do it myself! But I know Balanced Body, Peak, and BASI are all internationally recognized, so do some research into those certification programs and see where you can do them in your area!

This video has a lot more info on teacher trainings!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIqono2OetOsZsU I don't personally know anyone that has done training through Breathe Ed - Try the best you can to do a training in person, it will be so. much more valuable to you than a fully online program like Breathe.

Thank you so much for the video and for your response. I will keep looking for a in-person training in california
@oliviadenman3958 Жыл бұрын
Any pilates instructor course that has no in person courses is not respected by Pilates Studios. You may be able to get in at a gym and if that's your goal then great but if you want to expand into studios and possibly make more money then it is better to use ones that have in person training.
