Win or lose after a game only rest on the positive things that happened, realize the mistakes and go do something that gets your mind off of it. Don't dwell on the anger, hatred, negative thoughts, but dwell on the positive things that did happen even if there wasn't many. The important thing is, pickleball is fun and enjoy it with your partner. Be strong coach! Love you Alshon stay strong brother, your time will come!

I thought the same. I can't say I really know, but it feels like even high-level tennis players like this know that it is going to be tough road on the international stage and you really have to break at least maybe the top 40 in the world to start seeing some money from it. With PB he may have seen a much easier path forward to quickly make a living at it, which it appears he has already accomplished. And the fact that the sport is growing so quickly may have played into his decision-making as well.

You've got it all, Christian. Everything from here on out is mental. Look at how Ben Johns approaches matches. His maturity level is off the charts for his age. I guarantee the high majority of players don't have your physical skills. Stay focused!

This guy was unreal in the juniors. Wouldn’t be surprised if him, Duong, or Sock take that #1 spot. He has a serious shot at being a top tennis player in ATP and obviously in PPA

Keep pushing big dog. As you know probably better than I do, sports are filled with more downs than ups. especially with individual sports where you ride or die for yourself. I would love to see you develop your mental stamina as from your PPA matches, It stands out as an area of improvement. Stay in the moment, move on from the past or it will be what moves your future. Only bigger and better things ahead of your brother. Your just getting started. Chin up.

Jeez does every pro come from a strong tennis background? Seems like there's no hope for someone who never played tennis
@Rocketrecliner
@Rocketrecliner 8 ай бұрын
Yea, it seems that way, but it isn't really surprising. The difference is pretty much your best tennis players started playing at an extremely young age and they are conditioned to pick up PickleBall (PB) easily. PB hasn't been around long enough for that early development to take place. I think what you'll find as PB gains more popularity is that you'll start having a younger generation picking up PB at an early age. Then I think the gap will really narrow, if not disappear, with native PB players winning against native tennis players. Now, if you are comparing previous tennis players to someone who hasn't played racquet sports at all, then it really isn't any contest. Any paddle or racquet sport is going to lend itself well to PB especially when you are comparing against athletes that have no previous paddle or racquet experience at all.

Hayden Patriquin is one of the few pro players that didn’t come from a tennis background and started pickleball at 13 and went pro at 16.

I think it's because the sport is still so relatively young, at least in terms of when it's really started blowing up popularity-wise; people with experience in racquet sports are going to have a natural advantage, but it's going to balance out within a few more years.

Given your success in tennis at a high level in NCAA, why didn't you go into pro tennis? Lots more $ and visibility in pro tennis vs pro pb. Either way, you're a great player bro... go get it!
@janinemurdock2043

Because tennis is still a much more dominant sport; he could probably 'go pro' there, but unless you are at the *very* top, like Top 3, Top 5 at best, you are not going to get anything but the most lukewarm of sponsorships, if that. Getting in on what is relatively the ground floor of pb's popularity now, as it gets bigger, could see bigger returns than possibly getting lost in the crowd of climbers that occasionally challenge those top players.

You probably ARE the single most athletic dude on tour, and you have the potential to be the best. I don't mean to be insulting when I say this, but it seems to me you wear your emotions on your sleeve when you play, and it's often times detrimental to you, and appears to cloud your judgement. If you can rein in on the mental game, I've no doubt you will be the best. Pretty much everything else is already in place.

There is a reason you lose a point, 70% of the time it is a bad shot selection or court position and 10% your flat doing it wrong :). Don't feel sorry for yourself, look at the tape and correct it. You say it is a chess match, well time to make winning decisions.
