I have become very sarcastic and yet funny its been like that sense childhood for me... and when the rubbish bin is on the walkway and blocking my path if I can while it is full I will tip it over into the persons yard thus moving it out of my way tipping it over. :-) Then I go home and laugh about it. glass half full... no no I drank it its empty and the glass is shattered all over the floor with a straw down there somewhere. Its all fine I will driver over it with my power chair and wait for someone to come and clean it when they come.

“Praise yourself for the things that you have manage to do, not the things that you think you should have done but didn’t” I need to remember this! I’m repeating my first year of college because my lecturers didn’t think I was ready to move up (I was at level 6 and the college does offer a level 7 so I would have been jumping to level 8) and I’ve felt to talentless and like I should have done better but I improved so much throughout the year and I just need to look forward to improving next year. Jessica you are honestly such an inspiration to me. Seeing you be so successful and disabled is amazing! (I have a visual impairment no peripheral vision and Asperger’s syndrome and I’m doing a musical theatre course)

Yes, concentrating on the negatives is so narrow. Look at the bigger picture and "praise yourself for the good (paraphrased)" as Jessica advises. I struggle with this even though I know it. But, It can make you feel empowered.

Since i also struggle with various mental illnesses in addition to my physical illnessess, positivity is always a very great topic to me... because i can be the most optimistic and positive person in the world... as long as its about other persons and not myself 🤐 It's very hard for me to think positive about myself because my brain tells me all the time that I'm the most horrible person in the whole wide world. This video is a good reminder to more often practice all the things i learned in therapy, thank you for that! I also use the 'this too shall pass' thing when I'm in bad bad pain. I try to imagine I'm a few hours from now or the next day, when this horrible moment is just a memory and nothing more. This often helps me to calm down and calm my 'everything is getting worse forever' thoughts.

"Especially if that other person is your own body..." - never thought of it like that and realise I'm in a constant row with mine. A useful insight, indeed. Thanks! And learning to be present totally changed my life! Great tip. Also loving that you have continued through POTS by lying down to film. I do some pretty peculiar things to keep adulting in the face of disability. As a consultant, I often work in other people's offices, meaning a whole new set of people to get used to me doing weird stuff like napping under my desk! Extra points for workplaces with a sick bay... Keep up the good work!

We appreciate your comment! Approximately 95% of emergency response personnel are trained to look for medical IDs and more specifically they are trained to look for the internationally recognized medical symbol of the snake wrapped around the staff (⚕️- also known as a medical caduceus). They do this check as they are conducting their primary or secondary assessment of the person they are treating. The reason it is recommended that people wear their medical ID on their left wrist or around their neck is those are the points where an emergency response professional will take your pulse, meaning they are going to look in those areas regardless. Although it isn't as easy to see in the video, especially if you are watching it on your mobile device, the white medical symbols on both ofJessica's bracelets are very recognizable and bright in person. We also offer the medical caduceus in other colors like red and black for those who are concerned about EMS recognizing the med ID. Hopefully this explanation eases some of your concerns! 💖

I still have a ton of difficulty being "body positive" with myself because it always feels like it's fighting me just to make me miserable and so others think I'm a useless person! The way that I was finally convinced I should take care of myself (besides just keeping other people from worrying), was that I'm a person too, so I should work just as hard to help myself as to help everyone else. Then I feel a lot less guilty about the self love, because I'm still maximizing my effort to make people happy, it just includes myself. Also apparently it makes other people really happy when I'm excited about something and explaining it and smiling which just makes me even happier :)

I really needed this video today. I turned 20 this year, and I have multiple disabilities, and I've been kind of struggling. I thought I had accepted things, but I hadn't. The realisation that I am not like other adults, that I have different circumstances that cannot be changed, and because of these things, I am not as capable or productive. I don't feel like a "real" adult, because I'll always need assistance and have a limited capability to work, and accepting this is hard. We have different disabilities (I have autism and ADHD, mental stuff, and the cognitive nonsense that goes with all that), but watching you has really helped me out.

Recently I’ve been so selfish and it makes me hate myself ! I feel A LOT and I’m extremely empathic, but my brain makes my “empathy switch” power off when a friend approaches me with a problem. I know it’s because over the past few years my brain has convinced me that vulnerability is a weakness, or something to cringe at, and showing a friend that you care is a form of vulnerability. I want that part of myself back to badly, but I just don’t know how

Loved this video, it made me tear up in a good way as I am really self reflecting on my personality and my actions and I find you as a huge role model. I felt the need to take notes and maybe try to remember to do these things especially when my mind decides to spiral into negative thoughts. Thank you for being such an inspiration to all of us who watch your videos. Also your make up is absolutely perfect and you bring such joy into my day! Thank You!!!!!

Thank you for making this. I needed to hear this today. Sometimes it all does get to be a little too much and it is hard to stay positive, or even just keep going while remaining really grumpy (sorry everyone around me!) I asked you for this kind of video in your Instagram question series in your story, and I'm really grateful for you making it. Working on self-love and cutting myself some slack every day. ~from your fellow chronic illness friend who watches you on the daily

I never expected this video to be so helpful, but it really was. Thank you so much, Jessica. I've been writing my whole life in every moment I wasn't fine, and watching you, talking about that, really made me feel I wasn't alone, just like you also said. Thank you so so much for this. We need more positive people like you and I will certainly try my best to get closer to my best self. Lots of love❤️

this is an old video, but i just wanted to send a thank you out into the void of the youtube comments section. I have always had bad head aches and migraines, which had a relationship with my anxiety and depression (ie, panic attacks would then also trigger a migraine), but its been getting worse for a while now. two years ago i was working nearly full time and doing great, but in the last month I have spent nearly all my days stuck in bed, with light and noise causing terrible pain. the worst part being of course, that the pain then made me anxious, and then the anxiety made the pain worse, and the worse pain made me EVEN MORE anxious in a terrible loop. I am still stuck in bed, but today has been ever so slightly better, so I'm trying to find things to comfort myself. I'm going to try to utilize the tips in the video as best as I can, until this weird flare up ends. anyways, thank you again :)

Im going to finally be ordering a medical bracelet! I'm allergic to gold and nickel, as well as a lot of other things, but they have silicone ones! The realization I needed one hit me hard. Autism, PTSD, severe depression, a metabolic disorder, and that's not all. Self care is important, and sometimes that means making sure others know what is wrong

Hi Laura! Thanks so much for your comment! You're so right self care is very important! We just wanted to chime in and say that we also sell a lot of stainless steel bracelets. People find that they don't have allergic reactions to that metal. So that could be a great option too! ❤️

Lauren's Hope Medical ID I saw those as well, but I can't really wear much metal because of sensory issues. I like the silicone ones since the profile is easily update-able which is good since my husband and I are planning to have a child in a year, which means I can change things as needed.

Love this! Those IDs are gorgeous! One question though: do people know to look at them for information? Like, I would have never guessed that necklace had medical information on it. The bracelets with the panels do seem easier to spot to me, though.
@LaurensHopeMedicalID
@LaurensHopeMedicalID 6 жыл бұрын
That is an excellent question! We're really glad you asked! According to surveys that have been conducted approximately 95% of emergency response personnel are trained to look for medical IDs as they conduct their primary or secondary assessment of the person they are treating. Specifically they are most often trained to look at the wrists and neck for the internationally recognized medical symbol of the snake wrapped around the staff (⚕️- aka a medical caduceus). That's because these are the points where they will take your pulse. Hopefully this is helpful! 💖 Oh and just a sidenote: The necklace that Jessica is wearing in the video is actually only an accent necklace that is part of the Golden Filigree Ensemble. While the necklace goes very beautifully with the medical IDs she is wearing, it doesn't have any sort of medical information on it. 😊

I thought the same thing. I went to the webpage the other day from someone else's channel. I am still confused about the necklaces. One thing they have that is very helpful is a card you can fill out and keep in your wallet for things such as a list of your meds, or additional information that cannot fit on the tag. Personally, I am leaning towards the silicon bands. First responders are trained to look at the wrist and neck for medical alert jewelry. I like the tags that have the red caduceus as it seems to show up much better.

I have Scheuermann's Kyphosis and so experience really bad back pain sometimes. I currently cannot get out of bed because of it. Seeing you continue to make videos, despite having to lie on the floor to do so, makes me feel like it's okay to be stuck in bed sometimes. I also love the tips and messages you give in this video so thank you ❤️

This video answered the question I have most wondered about you since I started watching your videos! And I really appreciate that you answered in a way designed to help others! (Because of course you would!) These are all really helpful for me right now! I had never heard of the writing exercise, I will definitely try that! I remember hearing Oprah Winfrey shared a definition of forgiveness that changed her life: “Forgiveness is giving up hope that the past will be any different than it was.”

Dear Jessica, This video has helped me before... Then I forgot... Now I found it again. And this time I'm writing everything down and I will find a way to burn this into my brain. I really needed this today and I will probably need it again, but that's okay. I really want to thank you for posting this. It's important to hear that others struggle too (even though they might appear to be so darn careless and happy). It's hard work to appear that way. And not just for me. Everybody struggles. Thank you for reminding me. And also for sharing your ways to cope. Much love ❤️
