Can you do a tutorial on how you do skin tones/shading? Like, how you know which colors to use in different spots and what colors to use for them to not look awful when blended together?
@jaelynnquintero7340
@jaelynnquintero7340 2 жыл бұрын
he’s basing the placement of the colors on their values (how dark or light a color is) like he wouldn’t place a very light color somewhere where he wants shadow. and plus complementary colors, when mixed together make a black, so for example he wouldn’t place a purple right next to a yellow unless he wanted that area to look very dark. just learn about how different colors blend together and values.

I remember him saying in one of his vids that he kinda just puts them where he feels they should go, there’s no certain order he just picks a color he’s feeling and if you don’t like how a certain area is looking u can always scratch it off and do it again but better bc you’re the artist ❤️

Oil pastels blend together almost very easily so as long as you know your shadows and highlights you can use any dark or light colour to your choice

Yes, the general rule is playing with the value.. With this, you can certainly play with every color combination you like, but ultimately the colours in his works are based on what he likes so that's the reason his works looks unified

No this isn't the same thing you get at Pizza Hut. Those are wax-based crayons while these are oil-based, which blend more smoothly (but also are more susceptible to damage to the picture afterward).

i found this vid bc im totally new to oil pastels, and im rly impressed by how good you obviously are at this. despite how you said to choose a random color, the colors you choose and place on every particular position of the eye feels like youre keeping in mind your values, as well as overall composition, of the whole piece. you certainly dont forget variety and keeping the viewer (of the piece, not the video; but the video, too) entertained, either, as you add in different colors every time you feel "there's too much of (a color) here for my taste." regardless of your simple sketches, both your eyes turned out amazing, and it really makes me think i should trust the process a little more.

Holy God, you’re inspiring! As a gift from my son for my 50th BD, I got myself a set of oils pastels as something fun and new. I’m a ceramic artist currently, and have worked with nearly everything under the sun in my life, but NOT oil pastels. I came here to find tips and found you. You inspire and make things look gorgeous in seconds. I’m starting a painting now and have confidence thanks to you. THANK YOU for sharing your gift! I plan on watching all you have shared. It’s fun to keep trying new things at all ages. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🙏🤜🏼🤛🏾

Jeez. This is the first time I’ve seen this guy’s tutorials and I swear I blew at my iPad within 5 mins, trying to remove the pastel fragments. That’s when I realised he was so damn good I felt like i was there - so I subscribed... ;)

Recently found you on TikTok and just love your artwork, and so delighted to find even more of you and your artwork on KZbin!!! Watching you create is the best anti-depressant!!! And the glimpses you give into who you are, which make you real and relatable, are the cherry on top!!!
