I started bleaching my roots during covid as well. Ferria absolute platinum hair dye. My whole life I was told by hair dressers it would damage my hair far beyond what happens in the salon. I have done my own hair with olaplex system, your awesome Coconut oil trick( thanks gal!) about 6x now and it looks better than anytime I had it done in salon, it is healthier, doesn’t cost $240, and I can do it when I want, not on someone’s availability. Most times in salon I have had to go back to get them to fix splotches of missed areas or grey blotches from too much ash toner. This is way better for me! I get compliments nearly everyday on it😊 That being said, I’m a research geek and read a ton of articles, watched videos etc to make sure I knew what I was doing. I also use Olaplex 3 at least once a week. Silver linings with this epidemic, we get to develop(pun intended) new skills👌

@@suzannemaria5594 no toner, olaplex #1 in bleach mix, then olaplex #2 for 10 mins after I rinse, then just the conditioning toner that comes in the box. I also leave it on much longer cause I think the olaplex slows processing time?? I will say that although I have been bleaching and dying my hair for most of my life, rarely blow dry or use heat styling tools, deep condition it once a week so it was and is in good shape for bleaching. Your hair came out great. A lot of people probably don't know but this product is a 'creme bleach.' When they say 'lightener' on the box, it is actually bleach. It's a less harsh bleach, though. Be careful in the future of putting it on your already lightened hair, because it will severely damage your hair!

It lifts her hair to platinum blonde because her roots are naturally dark blonde, therefore they lift to that level without issues. If you have black, dark brown, or even light brown your hair won’t lift as light as hers in one application-that or you’d need 30 or 40 vol peroxide with powder bleach.

@@Alaska2446 as a general rule, box dye uses 20 percent developer, to be safe for consumers. Anything higher than that, a person should purchase on their own and mix with bleaching powder. Which is very damaging on darker hair.

When people watch this and their roots are NOT a level 7 or higher, your roots will definitely NOT turn platinum or even close to it (the "inside of a banana peel" sort of color). The only reason a box bleach like this works for blondes is it their roots are already pretty naturally light, (again level 7 or higher). If your roots are darker (typically 6-5 or lower of a level) your roots will turn orange. If that's the case, you're going to have to bleach it with a higher developer that you find in a beauty supply store like Sally's (here in the US) or go to a professional. Hope this helped anyone watching and questioning why your roots didn't come out blonde. :-) (I'm also NOT a hairdresser but I've been a blonde for a while now and through experience this is what I have learned through trial and error!.) Also, love this video Emma, platinum blonde was made for you!

On darker hair you usually don’t need higher developer. You need to apply more and not under saturate any sections. The lighter the hair the more forgiving it is. Higher developer will cause blisters on scalp. I’m a hairdresser.

Applying coconut oil isn't necessary all it does is make the bleach less effective. The bleach has to penetrate through the oil first then gets to the hair follicle. Let your hair get greasy (don't wash several days before a dye job) and your natural scalp oils will protect your scalp. Just an FYI. Also a brush will help you with application big time!

ALSO, bleaching hair to that level of white actually means the hair is a split second from melting off. Most people look AWFUL with platinum hair. I've never seen anyone who is a fake blonde go back to their own color and not look immeasurably better.

One more thing and then I will leave it alone, she HARDLY has any hair. I would bet it's mostly broken off. By using products and making it straight she's hiding that probably half of the hair is melted and broken off. Most people add about ten years to their look with platinum hair. It's darn ugly out in natural sunlight and people look freaky without makeup. Please don't do this stupid thing to yourself. People put these stupid videos up to MAKE MONEY. They DON"T CARE what happens to you. There. I'm leaving it alone now. I wish the gal in the video well. It ain't personal. I just feel so sorry for people who try this at home.
@DesertBluebells3 жыл бұрын
@Miriam Lopez Miriam, I don't hate her. I think she is a pretty girl. Her videos are misleading to say 'I get this shade from a box dye.' The implication is that it's a single process. It IS a double process, a VERY harsh one. The ingredients are simple included in the box. SHe is using a very harsh powder bleach. Many people will try this double process at home and get orange hair or worse, break much of their hair off. Double processing at home is almost always a good way to wreck hair. It's hard to even find a person at a SALON that understands bleaching well, or cares enough to take the time to not wreck your hair.

I understand some of what you're saying, but you seem a little over the top with your "tone."( Pun not intended lol). But you come across as a little too negative...Just sayin.
