Hi Mark just looked for those mineral balls on ebay and it says they are for showers. Are these the right ones ? Also have you heard of African fern. I only ask because you said you have trouble growing the moss. I saw it on Rachel O'Leary's site so I got some and it grows like crazy in all tanks hot or cold with any lighting. It's very similar to a moss. You have lovely shrimp keep it up.

I’m a biochemist, whoever told you that stuff about ions was not acting in good faith.
@MarksShrimpTanks5 жыл бұрын
so you are saying they are not negatively charged ?
@inquaanate23935 жыл бұрын
Marks Shrimp Tanks solid ionic compounds which can dissolve have a neutral total charge. They are made up of an amount of postive and negative ions that cancel out. When it dissolves, both positive and negative ions go into the water. Colloquially we call these ions in water the total dissolved solids because if you boiled off the water they’d solidify again. The rock might be making the water a little bit saltier or a little bit harder which might be good for the shrimps but the same effect could be achieved using dechlorinated tap water if it’s fairly hard or water hardeners.
@MarksShrimpTanks5 жыл бұрын
These dont dissolve?
@inquaanate23935 жыл бұрын
Marks Shrimp Tanks if they don’t dissolve then they can’t be putting anything into the water. The ions have to come from in or on the rock and become dispersed and solvated in solution (aka dissolved)
