Just curious if you have any other shopping tips that help you purchase intentionally. Share your thoughts in the comments! ❤️🌿

I like to make a specific list then an estimated budget. For example, last year I put a midweight cardigan that was a pinkish neutral and hit mid thigh for $50. I found the exact thing (a little underbudget even) and was able to fill in my wardrobe. **it sounds a little crazy, like that specific, but it makes shopping so much easier since I know what I'm looking for.

I find when I wait to buy things half the time I come up with some other creative way to repurpose something I already have and don't end up needing to buy anything.

Yes I often find that happens to me too. A few days to process and I recall something else I can do instead. I also find if I wait a few days for something I think I want, I find I don’t want it anymore. Makes a massive difference.

We recently bought a house. It's been fun noticing how different my mindset is now. I am slower to buy and so much more intentional. I'm also quicker to let go of the things no longer serving us.

i love the idea that the items we need are so close to us - in the store. and we don't need to store them. store keeps it for them till we really need it

Hi! I don’t know how your video ended up in my feed but it’s been such a breath of fresh air. I have on and off wanted to be more minimalist and being so passionate about the environment, resources, and sustainability aligns more with that. However, I think I’ve struggled emotionally and with the stress in my life that has caused me to go on spending sprees and buy everything that looks pretty or that I feel like I should own but have little to no use for. Excited for this series to keep unfolding! Thanks for sharing 😊

So excited to see your food clutter video! I definitely get stressed when I look in my fridge and pantry and feel like we end up wasting more than I'd like to admit.. I'm thankful for you sharing your journey on here, your videos have honestly helped me so much. I've decluttered soo much and feel so thankful to be more free. I'm excited to continue this lifestyle, I think this is the freedom the Lord wants us to have as wives, mothers, sisters and friends ❤️

Great video, Madi! Thank you for sharing your insight. I especially love your final point - “want less”. Let us be content in our hearts with what we already have and be thankful for the simple things that are such blessings. I also love your “wait 24 hours” advice. I find that waiting to purchase items helps me discern whether it would really be a useful purchase that enhances something in my life, and then if I do end up buying it, I appreciate it even more because it was a thoughtful and intentional purchase. Thanks again for your content! Your videos are like a breathe of fresh air! Have a joyful and peaceful day with your family!

I love the idea of “wanting less” thats where I need to slow down and focus on! I think your suggestion of bullet journaling on that is a great solution! Because with advertising and marketing flashing us everywhere wanting less can be difficult for me!

Idk if this is ocd of me but when i declutter items or even buy items i always condense to half. Such as i have 10 items in my cart I'll try to put back 5 before leaving the store so i mentally tell myself whats a need & whats a want. If i really want it bad enough i can come back next time. Same with stuff in the home if i have duplicates of toys, clothes, kitchenware I'll part with half etc. Hope that makes sense lol

Totally agree with the visual photo tip.. I would also get side tracked in the beautiful thing that caught my eye but at the end of the day it was not the right decor item for the space or would really not fit in the esthetic style I was wanting to create.. By waiting and taking the time to just put a picture of my wish list or mood board saved my time, money and mental space

On the topic of brands.....would you be willing to share thoughts on brand loyalty as it relates to minimalism. Specifically, does brand loyalty help reduce time? Such as you develop trust with a brand after learning its quality and sustainability meet your requirements, thus does this save time when knowing say....I need a pair of shoes because these fell apart, I will just order from (insert brand) because I know I love them. Does this also save money? Already knowing the item will be a good one to bring into your home based upon experience? OR.......does brand loyalty cause us to miss out on perhaps a better item for the need because we are not researching again? And does brand loyalty cause us to spend MORE because we already know what we buy we will love and so perhaps we purchase excess? Would love to know your take on this as its a subject i'm very interested in. Thanks for another amazing video AND more puppy sightings!!!!! Blessings over you and your family.

As a Teen I was SO good At only buying things I needed. Now in my early Twenties, I Fell into FOMO And for a year I am buying buying buying. Low buy - failed, no buy - failed, wish list - failed. I dont know what to do with my style or closet anymore. I really want to Gather my 10 favourite items (aka my Potential 10 item wardrobe) And Look at those things And what makes them different to the things I dont really love

Hi Madi! Love your videos. Love that you found a beautiful table! I’m pretty sure your dining table is Ethan Allen possibly from the 50s-60s. I recognized the pattern on the seat because my mom has similar chairs. You got a steal of a deal! They are worth a lot! And built to last

The two questions I always ask before purchasing something for my home are: 1) do I have a place/use for this item? 2) do I want to manage this item in daily life? These two questions alone keep me from purchasing 80% of items I like. I still thoroughly enjoy the act of shopping but I also enjoy living in my home knowing that on days where it gets messy, it will only take me 15 minutes to clean and reorder everything! And coming into my home you wouldn't guess that because over the years I have collected beautiful (low or zero maintenance) things that give my home the cozy feel I'm going for without the stress of unmade decisions all around me. I love your tips in the video! I often use the picture method and also the 24hr tip. 🩷🩷🩷

I have stopped buying multiples of things like shampoo and toothpaste because the shops can stack them for me and i buy when i am running out, i don,t over load my toothbrush or put loads of shampoo on my hair only to wash down the drain, when we have too much i think we get greedy and wasteful, i am not tight but why waste products they are so expensive and to buy 3 bottles of shampoo that will last me ages to save £1.00 and have to stack them along with all the other multiples, i just don,t do it any more. And its so easy to be sad and fed up and think i will treat myself to a litle something on amazon/etsy and all these things add up and often get dontated 6 months later or trashed, its so wasteful i am guilty of this and i think if i saved all that money i could buy something more substantial and better quality.
