Dairy (whey and lactose) create a significant insulin response, causing the body to store rather than burn fat. Heavy cream and butter don’t generate the insulin response since they have no whey protein or lactose (milk sugar). Food for thought. Great job! 🎉

I feel the best with high protein and lower fat carnivore. I foolishly followed other influencer's advice and ate a stick of butter a day only to gain 10 pounds. I wonder why some people do well on high fat carnivore but some are not?

If you watched the steak and butter gal, and I’m guessing that’s where you saw it, she was already in a weight and nourishment deficit from being vegan for 6 years. She did put on 20 lbs initially before beginning to burn it all off and is now so lean on carnivore that she needs to add in fat to burn. If you are starting off overweight, like most of us (especially women) we already have a store of fat waiting to be used. If having a fat deficit in your meals works better for you, keep doing it, not everybody needs to add more fat in, men do better with burning it than women 🤗

A lot is mindset, I’ve been keto over 4 years, I’m more ketovoire now, with a little bit of veggie with dinner. I slip in and out of carnivore, Don’t want to be that strict all the time. Be more flexible for social reasons. No one really knows. They see me as a health nut. I skip breakfast. And have always worked out, since the 70s. I find it is a mindset. Initially, it was a diet, now it’s more about health and lifestyle. I do track off and on. I’m more consistent now. I’m up early, having my morning coffee and plan my day and it’s set. It’s a relaxing me time, also helps with making a grocery list each week. I’ve been doing this so long, it’s just life. I do cheat a little bit on vacation and holidays, so far I haven’t this year, but it’s Christmas Eve and I have a party planned. But making 3 carnivore dishes for myself and don’t plan to imbibe in any alcohol and sweets. if I cheat a little, that’s ok too. Every New Year’s Eve, we go out, I’m more keto, couple glasses of red wine, steak, salad, it’s all good… ….

And you said 130 is your goal weight. That's close to mine 127 to 135, 130 would be fine if my body recomposition takes that abd hold it there. So best to try lower macros of 65/35 or 60/40 over the 80/20 or 70/30. I still gotta try to figure out how to put that into actual food portions oh and the Calories. I really like simple just eating till comfortably stuffed so basic and simple no tracking 😩 I am losing still but put on 7 pds after first initial weight loss of water fasting and detoxing mostly for 40 days with a few eating times for 10 days in October/November 15 pds probably just water fasting. 30 total so far since June, October till now keto carnivorish before that just cutting back carbs and sugars mostly. Now doing a 4 month carnivore challenge with Jenny Mitich her goal is 130 as well!

Can anyone answer me this please I never count anything, I was vegan for almost 5 years so high high high carb no need to count! But what does 100 grams protein & 100g fat look like food wise, I mean is that 2 chicken thighs for the whole day and nothing else to eat? Just curious as to what that looks like on my plate. I stopped being vegan over a year ago but I am struggling to find a balance to fix the mess being vegan did to my body
@CourtneyLuna

1 lb of 80/20 ground beef is roughly 100 grams of protein. I’d aim for anywhere between 1-1.5 lbs of meat a day. Also throwing in some eggs.

Start off by looking up what an egg or say 100g of steak or chicken or lamb or bacon etc has in the way of proteins and fats and keep a handy list. For example 100g of Salmon with the skin on has 25g protein and 12g fat. Track everything you’re eating each day then you can work out if you’re utilising the best ratio of protein to fat. If the fat is very low, add some butter or cream with your meal and don’t forget to note how much protein and fat are in the butter or cream also. Happy tracking.
