The easiest way to reserve a decent amount of annual free-cash-flow, is to simply set aside a hard number each payday. Consider yourself a bill, and pay it. This is the method that I use to save at least $20,000 annually! Saving money isn’t hard, most just lack self discipline. Some of these gimmicks work for some, yet super-savers don’t use them.

Love this strategy and can attest to how well it works. I used this method starting by only saving $20 a week... this built the hanit of always saving and as I got paid more i saved more, did this over the years and now I make over $1000 per month in interest (which is crazy because I started off only saving $20 a week, and now our mortgage is paid with the interest alone) and we are still saving lol

This is so important! If you want to succeed, you need to create a budget. Without a budget, you lack focus and direction. Budgets not only allow you to take control of your financial direction; it also provides you a benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding.

The envelope method is something Dave used to really push in his books years ago, and still does to an extent, but he has since said he uses debit more like for gas, etc., which is nice to know. I think it's a nice idea, but it's not true as a whole that it's easier to just swipe a card and people read it and just go with it which is great if it works for them, but people should explore what works for them. For me, I spend way more when I have a stack of cash in my wallet because I can't really see how much is there/recount it easily whereas I'm checking my bank balances constantly on my app (which wasn't a thing during some of Dave's earlier books). Over time, I made numerous bank accounts and divide my money up that way. My bank lets me rename the accounts. This has worked wonderfully for me so if cash isn't working for anyone out there, give this a shot.

When I was in high school the teacher told us about Dave Ramsey, and what he do to save money. Our teacher gave us a jar to put money in, and when you get a certain age you could bust the jar open. I just started the envelope method this week...I pay all my bills online but the variable stuff I take the cash and put in envelopes. I leave debit card at home. I will no longer use credit card or debit card. Only cash.

This is good but people need to start doing a lot more like starting Roth IRAs for retirement and stuff that will gain interest. Laddering CDs and much more. People always forget about retirement until it’s way too late. They think Social Security is going to give them this big check and they really don’t at all. They need to find ways to supplement their income whenever they retire. People also need to look into HSAs (Health Savings Accounts).

i started to always spend money on roblox and stuff and sometimes when my family goes to stores and stuff i ran out of money so i told my sister and she said stop using money on the game i didnt listen which rlly backfired bc i would want things but couldn’t afford it but now that im older i started saving money on hygiene and stuff and realize my life comes first before a game so i stop spending money on it and save

Also, I'm starting to budget myself! So far I've been pretty consistent with my savings and my weekly budget but its been hard as I'm only working part-time and my hours aren't guaranteed. So hopefully once I turn 18 next month I can find a better gig lol. Loved the video!

Great video and concept, but since you have mastered allocating your money, you need to Look into using credit cards for bills and everyday purchases to reap amazing benefits for using a credit card. Using cash now a days is useless. You can get free amazing benefits + rewards using a credit card and paying it off in full every month.

I have direct deposit so would it be better to not have direct deposit? Most of my bills I pay online. I was thinking after paying all my bills on the 10th and 25th as needed, to take the money out of the bank so I can't spend it. i suck at not buying things that I dont need or that my kids dont need then have the audacity to get upset when i'm broke
