What’s up everybody? Today’s video is how I built a floating bed frame for my daughter for a full size mattress. This is a low cost option that you can do at home for typically less than $100. I got the wood from my local Lowe’s store. I ordered the LED light strip off Amazon and posted a link below.
MINGER LED Strip Lights 16.4ft, RGB Color Changing LED Lights for Home, Kitchen, Room, Bedroom, Dorm Room, Bar, with IR Remote Control, 5050 LEDs, DIY Mode www.amazon.com/dp/B07JP5375R/...

Just adjust the dimensions for the larger size mattress. My video was based on a full size mattress. A Queen or King would be larger so just adjust accordingly by adding the extra inches as needed.

Excellent tutorial! Been looking on various sites all day, and this is the best I’ve encountered…I’m going to attempt to scale this down for a standard twin mattress - 75x38. (Hope my math skills are on point!) What size screws did you use to attach everything? Assuming 3”? Should I use self-tapping? Does it matter? Did you use wood glue? Is it necessary? (My old man OVER-built stuff to withstand hurricanes, hence the question.) He would probably glue/screw AND nail, and add a bazillion metal brackets for added stability.

Update: Built a twin size version of this exact plan in about 3 hours today. Super sturdy and super cool! Total cost (including lumber, box of 3” screws, wood glue & LED tape lights ~ $110). Thanks again for the awesome video & inspiration!

I see where you indicated you laid mattress directly on frame. What kind of mattress? Foam etc. I'm getting a memory foam mattress. So I'm curious if the mattress would sink into area's between the 2 x 4's? I'm thinking about putting luan on top of frame then add mattress. But what a simple effective design.

As long as the thickness is there I don’t see why not. You may just have to double up the bottom frame to make it thicker and sturdier for support.

Nice, What keeps the bed from sliding away from the frame
@DieselLegiance

Just gravity. With the double boards at the ends, the mattress does not slide into any pockets and keeps it in place. You could also use anti slip pads if concerned about the mattress moving but I never had any issues.
