Hi. Does it make sense to buy exactly Odroid or can i use the cheaper and more common Raspberry Pi? I understand that you already had Odroid and you took advantage of what was available. But if i buy for the first time, what is the best choice? What are the advantages of Odroid before the Raspberry Pi except for faster loading when using a eMMC memory card? And the second question: how did you distribute the sound output in stereo to the four dynamics of the car? Have the front and rear speakers connected in parallel? Or all four channels separately? And how do you regulate balance and fade? Using a software shell, manually potentiometers or not at all? Thank you.

Hi , i don't know what is the best choice, but if i chose again i will consider the odroid a good choice(in the first 3) because of their support. I think the best hardware is udoo x86 but i don't know if the support is better than odroid. For the sound .... the old stereo have AUX IN and i use this instead of amplifier. For the balance i use the stereo also. I use Rotary encoder to control volume on odroid system.

I love this! I'm building one now on a RPi4. The volume controls on the skin change the volume for music and videos, but not for music streaming from my iPhone to this 'headunit', it just plays the bluetooth streaming audio at 100%. Any ideas?

Hi, Well , in my opinion first important thing you must find good touch panel (capacitive, not rezistive ) and something to work with many boards and os's out of the box. If not you have to compile your kernel .... pain . And then the screen need a good resolution (some hd), good angle , ips ...

Eu m-am gândit să cumpăr un raspberry-pi 4 cu 4 Gb RAM dar nu știu ce ecran să cumpăr. Aș vrea să cumpăr ceva mai calitativ. Per total am un buget de două sute de euro pentru sistemul de navigație al mașinii și aș vrea să fac cea mai bună alegere pentru acești bani ! Mă poți ghida cu niște link-uri și cu niște informații ? Mi-ar fi de mare ajutor ! Mă pricep la instalări cu sistemul de operare și chestii din astea, nu e problemă. Aștept răspunsul tău ! Mulțumesc anticipat !

Salut! Daca vrei sa mergi pe android, din cate stiu raspberry nu are android os oficial. Recomand N2 tot cu 4Gb ram de la odroid, deoarece functioneaza bine si gasesti suport pe forumul lor in caz ca intampini probleme . Merge si direct pe 12V de la masina. Referitor la display e forte important sa iei ceva calitativ (gasesti pe ebay), sa se vada bine din toate unghiurile si sa aibe luminozitate buna. In descriere ai link cu display-ul meu dar cred ca intre timp au aparul altele mai bune. Touch-ul e la fel de important sa gasesti ceva sa functioneze pe android altfel e chinuiala naibii sa-l faci sa mearga. Ai link si cu touch-ul meu si pot spune ca e foarte bun. Hi , yes. After you install kodi the skin is the same but some apps will not work or work different . For ex. Waze will not work. But if you want to use only for music and video is ok.

hello there, very nice product I have to say however, just one quick question, it appears to go to the reversing camera as soon as the car is put into reverse? how is this achieved, do you have a simple switch on the level mounted to the dash or do you intercept the signal to the switch at the fuse box to tell the state of the reversing lights. many thanks Harry.

I installed Waze before and I didn't have to do anything to link it up. I've uninstalled that now as I prefer maps but I can get it to run off the button,any idea how to get it to work?

Nice system, and I really like the interface you made - how can I change the language on the home screen as it's in English only. Most of the rest can be changed to my choice of language, b ut I'd especially like the home screen to be in my language. Which file would I need to change? Also the Carpc-carbon Kodi add-on doesn't work with Kodi Leia, as there is a dependency that's not satisfied. (I've installed the Carpc Carbon Kodi addon on my deskopt pc to take a good look at it)

My skin just open the navigation . You can setup a button to open navigation but navigation is not part of kodi. You can use android auto on rpi or you can bay android board. odroid c2, asus tinker...

The skin is addon that works on kodi . You can use rpi or other board with kodi. But if you want to use navigation you should use something with android. You can install also navigation on rpi but is more complicate. You can use Arduino just for buttons.

Just out of curiosity why didn't you just buy a touch screen display that has HDMI in as well as use 5v power through USB there are a few on Amazon that should have work that way you could have evaded on making your own touchscreen display but otherwise then that this looks amazing great job!

Hi , thanks. When i bay it my display was not so many options like now. This is the second display i bay it . My options was: To have support for reverse camera on the display board , IPS display and 12V to connect direct on my car without adapters ... very important is touchscreen , my touch working out of the box on many systems , rpi , odroid, udoo , asus tinker ... and working very well . Now can be better display and better touch but for me is ok for the moment.

Hi , yes you can use but without x300, xu4 don't have 40 pins like rpi or c2. You can use usb sound card and other things you need. X300 is not a must. You can adapt your board for your need.

Hello, no , is not just for audio but all things can be replace. Power , audio , wifi is you need ... For FM you can use USB FM stick. I use radio on internet , you can listen all radio you want. Yes you can play music from usb stick, like any android system. You can use android auto direct without your phone. You can't stream your apps from phone...

Hi in the breif summary at the start you mention arduino to launch apps and media keys. Media keys i get, im currently looking at that function. But how did you launch apps via arduino HID? Iv been searching for 48hrs for "Android Arduino App launch hotkey" and such and cant find any info at all. Now arduino isnt new to me, but the coding is. Any chance we could talk about it in terms of app hot keys.

Hi, the app is ''built in '' odroid. With arduino i just send F7, F8.. keys . You can use the pins from odroid without arduino but you have to modify the kernel. I used arduino because i wanted to have rotary encoder for volume control and the buttons in the same place and not compiling the kernel.

@@idorel77 well funny you say that, I have just done the same thing after working that out using key mapper. Could I balls get rotary encoder to work though. The keys from F1 to F12 work great on pins 2-16 on a pro micro Tried using A pins for rotary but the scrips sent all the other F keys nuts. So any tips of skeipt you could share for rotary encoder would be greatly appreciated

@@idorel77 hai am from India and own 2013 Toyota fortuner which have dvd radio player...I have researched a lot and found some fortuner owners from asian counties add tv tuning box by upgrading socket connection with RCA in connector...So I ordered the socket and planned to install android system to run navigation, youtube etc..

With RCA you can send the video from the tv box to the display . But what is your plan for the touch screen or how will you navigate in the menu? Be shore all apps you need is working on that tv box . On some tv boxes is not working navigation apps... Tv boxes working on on 12V so you can use direct 12V from the car. For the wifi you can use a stick if the tv box don't have.

The touch screen will not work on rca, only video. You have to search if you can connect the touch on the tv box but is hard to do maybe not possible.

Hi, my radio have AUX IN , (Audio In ) . From Odroid C2 headphones (audio out ) i use a cable with jack stereo in my radio (audio in) than from here is normal radio is connected to audio system.

Salut , nu prea inteleg ce vrei ... Nu am microsd , am emmc . Iar pe stick-ul usb l-am pus ca e mai usor de manevrat cand ai de pus muzica sau altceva. Nu stai sa scoti tot din masina pt 2 melodii. Si inca o data zic , ai poti sa-ti faci o idee nu trebuie sa faci la fel. Unul prefere hdd, altul stick, altul emmc ... nu o sa fac cate un video pt fiecare preferinta.

Salut. Eu le-am adunat in timp, si intre timp, au aparut solutii mai bune si mai ieftine. Necesitati minime: Display cu touch , mini pc (Odroid C2 cazul meu) si un gps. Ai link-urile cu tot ce am eu . Recomand un touch capacitive care merge pe mai multe sisteme os sau mai multe placi de dezvoltare. Ce am acum, cel de chalc elec e f bune , am avut si altele si am avut dureri mari de cap din cauza drivere-lor. Acum urmaresc sa schimb Odroid C2-ul cu Odroid N2.

Eu l-am pus pe al meu in modul stick ca sa scap de interfata aia urata de web si nu reusesc neam sa-l fac sa mearga pe android, merge brici in linux/windows dar nu pe android(x86 in cazul meu) toate modulele sunt incarcate(huawei_usb_sdc) dar nu merge. Am vazut ca pentru modul HILINK Huawei are o aplicatie dar as vrea sa nu fiu nevoit sa o folosesc si sa-l fac sa mearga "nativ"

Salut, multumesc. Eu nu am stick, am avut dar am renuntat demult, am un router 3g/4g huawei e5172 care este alimentat direct cu 12V . Cu el am internet LAN si WIFI. Merge pe orice sistem fara nici un efort. :) Lucrez la un filmulet cu acest router , sa-si faca lumea o idee. Dea lungul timpului am incercat sa simplific conectarea perifericelor. Mai sunt si alte modele asemanatoare nu trebuie sa fie la fel ca al meu... recomand. Gasesti pe olx ceva mai ieftin. Daca ai timp poate faci un filmulet cu ce ai facut :)

Salut. Nici eu nu folosesc wifi pt carpc, am cablu lan. Wifi-ul e pt cei din masina :) . Ce modul gps special ? De ce e asa special? Poti posta niste poze? Ultima versiune de android e buna doar daca suporta placuta :)) (a mea doar android 6). O sa mai testez si alte placi . Am luat asus tinker s... o sa o testez curand.

De ce-ti trebua un gps special? Eu am dat 10 usd pe unul si merge forte bine. Poti face o poza la gps? Pentru asus tinker ultima versiune este android 7. Tu de unde ai pus ultima versiune de android? :)

:))) Ala nu e cablul din masina. Doar nu ma apucam sa scot toate cablutile din masina. Dupa cum vezi nu e nici modulul gps, nici routerul pentru internet.... Ce e acolo, e asa ca idee pentru a face filmuletul.

MasterMoparMan No, is Odroid board with Android. But you can install android auto app .

​I'd like to build on this, if anyone is still wondering about this. Odroid does seem capable of running Android Auto (I'm assuming you mean OpenAuto to emulate a headunit). It may come with Android (I'm not sure as I don't actually have one right now) but it is capable of running Linux which you need for auto.

Hi , is not easier... for navigation working only navit on pi. If you use pi only for music and video yes is easy too but not easier... my opinion. Everybody know how to use android but is not the same for raspbian...
