My brother and I fished these same waters a few decades back using top water Mirrolures, spoons, and Manns Jelly grubs on red head jigs. The trout, snook, and redfish were plentiful, particularly in the early morning. Water quality was not good back then either, but it didn't seem to affect the fishing. Nice video that bought back a lot of fond memories.

Nice vid. I missed the explanation of setting up the rod/reel combo to not exceed the lines breaking strength. For the novice out there learning to fish, keep the rod tip up (allow rod to bend when a fish wants to run) and set your drag to allow the rod/reel combo to tire out the fish and avoid breaking off. Patience in the midst of hooking a nice fish is key also. Fish On!

It's a great feeling when she's on the end of that line. My PB for a BullRed is 51" (not sure of the weight, released quickly) during mid August back in 2003 at the Mouth of Brazos Bull Run in Freeport, TX. We would catch em on every cast using those huge Cut Menhaden Shad, 20lb Red Cajun Mono & Abu Saltwater baitcasters on 7' MH All Star Rods. Caught many 47's to 49" but I thought I had the Texas Record but Not! Haven't caught a slot Red in many years also. Hopefully that'll change when I get my Kayak. It's a blast though. All were released & lived on to hopefully give someone else a great fight. Tight Lines 🤟
