Very inspirational story! I was a high school dropout, almost got married at18 and decided to turn my life around after a friend who passed away from overdose. It was hard to get my GED and apply to college then but I managed to pushed through it, got accepted to one of the best state colleges, completed the bachelor with highest distinction and then went to an Ivy for my master. Everyday I feel blessed that I've given a second chance to reposition my life path. I suspect that it must've been even harder given that you're from HK - I have relatives there and I've heard how competitive it is to get into the top schools so kudos to you for turning your life around. I'm very proud of your achievements!

Emi, I totally agree with you. You need to stay focus on what you need to do to have achievements. I am from ban 5 college and I only have 5 points and I fail on my Chinese for my HKCEE. With luck and dedication, I am now a business owner with multiple ownership of the commercial real estates. Stay positive and never give up is the key when you at a low point in life.

I don’t think getting how many (return) offers at your final year really reflect your true value. Getting an offer from ibank ofc more or less making sure your future with less concerns or worries (in a financial aspect, lol), but it doesn’t make you more successful than your fellows. 其實當智力正常, 香港讀書其實只係一場鬥早醒覺嘅遊戲. 除咗中英數要打好根基, 其他科目喺考公開試前嗰兩三年先開始認真讀, 想攞A(或最高GRADE)絕對唔難. 以前會考, 嗰科唔合格嘅, 有冇讀過書, 自己心知肚明, 當年我完全放棄BIO, 兩年內100%完全未温過, 只係考之前4日, 拎起本精書由頭到尾背一次都有E. 唔係認叻, 而係要合格本身就係要求求咁低, 即係話你唔係完全唔讀, 基本上就叫合格, 但事實大約有4成人係唔合格嘅, 即係話, 淨係"肯去讀"呢個因素, 唔好講要幾勤力幾聰明, 你已經先贏咗4成人. 呢4成人唔係低能, 只係未醒覺. 而你唔係考之前先讀, 而家平時校內考試都會温書嘅, 夠有D, 想C, 就真係要KEEP住温, 會做PASS PAPER嘅. 而你認真當讀書係你嘅責任, 好似你份工, 覺得你有責任做好佢嘅話, 喺兩年內, 課程要求你識嘅嘢你對可以識晒(識晒嘅意思係, 你真正明白, 來去縱橫), 咁會考一隻A真係唔難, 尤其90年代打後, 頭7%度已經有A, 我個年代, 只係頭1%先有A. 咁點解一般人覺得A咁解攞? 因為一般人喺嗰年紀, 好少人會認真當讀書係一個責任, 可惜當你認清之後, 你已經大過, 記憶同學習能力己開始倒退. 所以我話讀書其實只係一場鬥早醒覺嘅遊戲.
