That is a great tactic. My Mother taught us to "put the house to bed" each night, so I sort of do this every bedtime....it's so much easier than letting it get out of hand. I love to wake up to a tidy house.

Brilliant! I hate standing by and trying to direct this kids to pick that up and put it in this room and come back. And it takes forever and half the time the kids never come back as they get distracted. Will try this and see how it goes.

I do this just for my kids toys. I keep a laundry basket handy and just throw all their toys in as I'm cleaning up. This way I'm not making a hundred trips to their room. Such a good idea to do it with other areas. 👍

Yes, we have 9 rooms, so each one has a basket plus an extra basket for things that need to go out to the shed or up to the attic.
