HOW I COLOUR: SNOW - MY FAVOURITE COLOUR COMBINATIONS | Adult Colouring

Hi guys!
Winter is almost here, and I am sure we are all getting ready to start our winter and Christmas pages soon! So, I thought I would share my favourite colour combinations that I use the most in my colouring with you all so that we can change up our winter landscape colourings.
As always, I have used my Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer pencils, and I used them dry. You can match up the colours exactly with your Polychromos. Or use an online conversion chart to get it into a pencil brand you enjoy using.

Nice tutorial as always :) I like your blue-ish snow combos so while I was watching this video I thought of the time between halloween and christmas and thought about a redish or green-ish snow if I got a "wintry" nightscene, maybe with a red or green moon :D

I use Neenah bristol vellum, but I use the back side which is smoother. It has just the right amount of tooth to grab pigment without being so rough it won't take detail. I have no issue with it taking the amount of water I use for watercolor pencil. It dries almost flat with watercolor pencil alone and completely flat if I pencil over it. It will warp with heavy water and even pill, so not good for painting. It's fine with markers as well, no excessive bleeding or feathering. It really isn't great for ink consumption, because it's so thick it's absorbent, but since I always use my markers as a base under pencil I don't care to color on smooth marker paper. The best paper for markers is either those designed for it which are coated, or a thin very hard pressed paper.. I have one I bought at Walmart that is lovely and inexpensive it's 28lb super premium bright inkjet paper, it's so hard pressed its semi-glossy and markers lay down on it super smooth with very little absorption. Non absorbent paper not only saves ink but improves blending and reduces streaking. I use a lot of different types of pencils and a very smooth paper/cardstock won't work well with some.. I find the Neenah bristol vellum cardstock (Amazon) to be the most versatile I've tried. I don't recall the weight probably somewhere around 90lb. I can look it up if you wish to know. The best if you are going to use water is 100 cotton hot press wc paper, for plain pencil 100% cotton bristol vellum, but I want something that will go through my printer nicely and handcut paper never works well no matter how careful you try to be to get it perfectly square. Plus I just won't pay that price for hobby coloring. For actual watercolor I won't paint on anything but 100% cotton, and if I were framing my pencil work that is what I would use because it's archival. I can put up to 140# through my printer, one sheet at a time.. but you have to have a back side feed so it only has to make one gentle bend through the printer. Otherwise I wouldn't go past standard cardstock weight which is 60-90lbs.

Hi Shelly, i was waiting so much after this fantastic tutorial how to make snnow, it's so perfect for what we will color a lots on this seasons right! i really enjoyed to watch this awesome tutorial but would love to seen if you had times and only because you've asked what we woould like to seen for myself do a color along with you on a winter scene with snow every where on trees, corner of windows ice with snow on well i'm shure you get my request plus i had lots of Beautiful ice Princesses to color and don't have a clue how to bring these Fabulous frozen young princess sorry don't know the name of these but they are so amazing would love being able to gave justice to this amazing Artist who created those so maybee if you had time and feel to do these i've seen with snoewman how you do the ice arround & how to but these princess had so many pointy iced all arround Her exquisite dressers well thank you so so much for this incridible tutorial who will help me to color my winter & Christmas scenes love this very much Shelly xx
