Cedar Point is a fantastic amusement park in located on a peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio. The park boosts one of the greatest collections of roller coasters in the world, and is basically every coaster enthusiasts top bucket list park. This may all sound awesome, and it sure is, but there's one huger drawback to this park, and that is... the crowds. Cedar Point gets some of the worst crowds of any seasonal amusement park in the country. No matter when you go, the park always seems to be pretty crowded. However, there is a few sweet spots throughout the year that you can visit during to have one of the best experiences possible at this park. Today, I explore Cedar Point on a less crowded weekend, and see how much I can do in 6 hours.

I went to Cedar Point last year with my gf for 2 days. We immediately went to Steel Vengeance where she messed up her knee and couldn’t go on any coasters for the rest of the trip. So I dropped the $200 that night for the fast lane plus pass for the next day. And honestly for 4th of July weekend and first big summer after COVID regulations were lifted I was surprised that I only waited 20 minutes at most for both Steel Vengeance and Maverick. Long story short Fast Lane Plus is so worth it on busy days which is basically everyday now

On Monday May 21st 2018 I arrived at Breakers at 4pm for my 1st visit to Cedar Point and didn't manage to enter the park until 6pm. That day I rode Corkscrew twice, then Iron Dragon in the back car, as well as Blue Streak; Raptor; Wicked Twister; Gatekeeper; Valravn; Rougarou; Millennium Force and Maverick all in the back car by 8pm without using a fast lane as a sneak peak for the days ahead. (I only used the Fast Lane Plus on the Friday before my 5th and night at Breakers which only cost $100.) That means I rode 10 coasters in two hours; one of them twice. I had no idea how good I had it back then! Unfortunately Steel Vengeance had one train ops then, so only rode it 10 times; 8 in the back car. Millennium Force was my 2nd favourite coaster there after Steel Vengeance, followed by Gatekeeper in the back car, TTD, Raptor and Maverick.

I took a trip on the 7th of October this year. I managed a ride on every coaster in the park except valravyn (by choice). Iron dragon first was a walk on, then I waited about 20 minutes for Millie. After that we got maverick with about a 45 minute wait and then headed back out to the car for a smoke break and hit rougaru, raptor and blue streak on the way back through. Coming back in we go down the other side of the park where gatekeeper and magnum are both 5-10 minute waits and steel vengeance was about 20 minutes. We hit a bunch of flat rides coming back down the same side and went for another smoke. Corkscrew and Gemini were closed because it was a friday, and valravyn maintained an hour like pretty much all day and if I'm waiting an hour that's not what I'm waiting for. Coming back in it was getting dark and we managed night rides on gatekeeper, magnum, SteVe, and Millie at night, waiting an hour for SteVe and 15 minutes at most for the rest.

I went the first week of school for Ohio and lines were extremely short, no fast lane and I got 6 rides in total. Not bad for the 7 hours I was there.

This is my local park and I get a season pass. It wasn't until Steel Vengance opened that the crowds were really unbearable for most of the year. I think it was 2016 when I went 2 hours before the park closed on a Sunday and rode every coaster. I rode Millenium Force 4x in a row, and the was only one other person in line with me for Maverick. Freaking amazing. That doesn't happen anymore, especially with the gold passes. I do find that one of the best times to go is late August during the week. This is right when everyone is going back to school, lines are much, much shorter. I think I waited 30 minutes to get on Steel Vengance and I rode it twice, rather than my usual method of catching it as the last ride before leaving (hoping to get the last seat because it's amazing at night). Since I live closer, I'll usually stay for about 5-6 hours. I typically go with a friend who only rides coasters. When I go with friends who like to ride other things, I can be there for much, much longer.

If you hit the park very late August (after Ohio schools are back) on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday you'll get a pretty good ride count sans fast lane, did so last year and longest waits were around a half hour for Maverick and practically a walk on for Steel Vengeance (minus the locker loading time). I always plan 2 days there when I can, but living only 2 and a half hours away from, it a day trip is always on the cards. Actually only waited so long for Maverick because it was being temperamental that day and shut down all 3 times we got in line for it.

If you're coming from out of town and are only at Cedar Point for a day, Fast Lane is a necessity (even if they oversell the passes some days and wait times might be longer than expected). Cedar Point knows this and keeps raising the price. I wouldn't be surprised if Fast Lane goes up to $175 or so within the next couple years.

True. We were just talking about how lucky we've been going to other parks like Six Flags and Kings Island being able to ride everything in one day. Without Fast Lane Plus you are not guaranteed that at all at CP. We are local to Cedar Point and looking to go for the first time since 2019 either later this month or October for Halloweekends and plan to get FastLane+ and it's priced at $199 so far.

@@Reality_a_thing You may have gone when most of the Ohio kids were back in school already. that would have cut the crowds down quite a bit. If you during July or on a weekend don't expect to be so lucky.

I was able to ride every coaster at Cedar Point in under 8 hours without fast lane plus and on July 4th weekend. It was super fun. We got Fast Lane Plus on July 4th and I rode Maverick every ten minutes, it was awesome. Great video!

The best time to go is last full week in August. I went on Wednesday and the longest line I had for Maverick @45 minutes. Milenium Force was 5-15 minutes wait and SteVe was maybe 10-20 most of the day

A lot of schools in Ohio start up in mid-August so if you go the last week the crowds will be much less. In my area (Western NY) schools don't start until after Labor Day so it's a great time to make the trip down.

In 2019 I went to Cedar point in me on a Sunday. I bought Fastlane plus because it was my first time at the park and I didn’t expect to come back anytime soon and it paid off. I walked on maverick three times. Steel vengeance was like 15 minutes. Millennium force I had to wait a while for because of the merge point. The regular lines for everything we’re probably like an hour maybe two.

I was just there last Monday and got fast lane plus, rode front car on EVERY coaster in the park twice and steel vengeance and maverick 4 times we got that all done by about 5pm. The fast pass is definitely worth it if you don’t have 2 days. And magnum beat the crap out of us
@topsweatgaming1764
@topsweatgaming1764 Жыл бұрын
Btw I agree with legit every comment you had on each coaster. The only ride we didn’t ride twice was raptor, it opened late and I tunneled put a bunch in it. I think the downside to the fast pass is on a few of the rides your pretty much walk on and your body gets zero time to settle down. I felt like garbage for about a day and a half after we were there but I think it’s due to riding 30+ rides on coasters in about 8 hours

I went Thursday may 19th it wasn't to bad it was special needs day so we waited a little longer then maybe on a different weekday in may. Another good time to is the end of August most of Ohio is back in school or getting ready to go back. I went on August 25th my longest wait was steel vengeance about 20 minutes. I can't ride a good amount of coaster cuz I'm 6'8 funny thing is I rode mf and Maverick before but they must be getting stricter with it now. Raptor was a walk on, valraven was 10, and magnum was a walk on and all the older ones were walk on or a 5-10 minutes. I had a similar experience last year in August.

I messed up by going on weekdays in July 2021. Fortunately, that meant I was one of the few that summer that got to ride both Gatekeeper & Top Thrill Dragster. But, the lines were the worst I've ever seen anywhere. Fast Lane Plus lines were only an alternate line, as both lines were equally long. Dragster's Fast Lane line was twice as long as the regular line. Most Fast Lane lines were spilling out far down the midways. I think half the park had it, so it was totally worthless. I refused to buy another and had more fun & got on more rides on my non-Fast Lane days. If you luck into a day with brief rain or a morning rain that clears out, the park might have much shorter lines.

They say they limit the number of Fast Lane passes but it makes me wonder. If you can't get on a ride within 10 minutes with FL then it's apparent Cedar Point is just using it as a money grab. They're selling so many FL passes tnow hat it's not even fast any more. I wouldn't be surprised it Cedar Point came up with "Fast Lane Ultimate" for about $250 extra which would let you in through the exit gate and get you almost immediate access to the ride.
@OklahomaCoasterFan
@OklahomaCoasterFan Жыл бұрын
@@56jetman They have what you described as Fast Lane Ultimate, and it's free. It's supposed to be for people with disabilities which prevents them from being able to use the regular line, but most people have been faking a disability, or they're severely exaggerating a very minor issue. I know of people that do the latter all the time, and I disagree with them. That should be left for only people who actually need it, so that it doesn't get ruined for them. The "exit pass" lines were also spilling far down the midways. I do think I went on a very crazy week, but I agree that Fast Lane Plus is a money grab for Cedar Point, with how many they sell.
