I've always had a pet rabbit, just not the last few years because my house is too small. I once made friends with a wild rabbit who lived in the woods behind my house. Gradually he started bringing over his family for the vegetables and water I'd leave for them. After I had moved out, the new owner said they'd still come every day at 2:30 pm, up to 10 of them!

@@tatartotkb It took a while to gain the first rabbit's trust. I assume he was the father of the clan. At first he was kind of skittish, but I managed to take few good photos of him. A couple times I'd be outside smoking cigarettes and he'd come over right next to me and fall asleep after a while. I guess he sensed that I was not a mean person.

I also do own a wild rabbit, I picked it up from the street as it was like 1 month old. Despite he is not so cuddly as Lennon, I believe he truly loves me and hangs always besides me. It's so funny cuz when I chill in my bed, watching a movie, he also lays in my bed. When I'm in the other room, he hangs there also out.

I have a bunny named Groucho He's about 8 or 9 yrs. now. He's very affectionate. My girlfriend and I spend alot if you time with him every day. We treat him as if he were our child. My girlfriend says to him come on let's say our prayers now everyday. He lies flat out puts his forehead on his paws and we all pray together. He will not get up and leave until he hears amen. He is so smart.

Asian Phoenix You have to work with things on Choco's terms. Your rabbit will come around if you take the time to learn how to bond and have a lot of patience. Trust isn't generally easy for a prey animal. Especially with humans, we're predators.

I've had Choco for about a year now. I give her food I don't touch her unless she wants to be touched. sometimes i have to refill her hay rack and some hay dust gets on her hair. so i have to touch her head a little to get it off. but even sudden contact still scares her. I have bonded with her a lot or as much as i can but i could try harder. she does lick my feet and can be very lovable but she just wont let me hold her even if i need to like when she jumps put of her cage and i need to get her back in so she won't chow on cords or hurt herself. oh well i could try harder.

Hehe. My Felicity actually refuses treats/food I offer, she'd rather just lick me and be petted. Although my Dad is the treat man, so she goes bananas when he approaches her cage, she thinks she'll get a treat every time. It's hilarious.

There are ways to get rabbits to trust you. They generally love gentle physical contact, so head-rubs usually go over well. Also, if you put your hand under a rabbit's chin for a while, and it starts licking you, reward it with a head/neck stroke or something you know they like. They aren't the most frightened, skittish animals around and they can quickly learn to love attention.

our netherland dwarf jojo loves to cuddle just like this! even though he is much smaller than lennon he still tries to lay his head on you and give smooches. he looks silly because he often has to stand up in order to reach. we also raised him since he was about a month old and it is certainly a process to gain a rabbits trust. lots of respect for bunnys personal boundaries mean they will come to you when theyre comfortable and ready! though i think not every bunny is this affectionate :) you have such a sweet bun.

I love these bonding videos you put up. I've never been a rabbit lover and never considered owning one. Well 4 weeks ago my dog brought home a baby cottontail. I tried finding a nest or something and couldn't, even left him out in the garden, but came back next day and he was dehydrated. So I took him in. He was about a week old. Now, after hand feeding, weaning, and caring for this baby cottontail for 4 weeks, he definitely shows his gratitude by snuggling up to me, grooming, and taking treats from me. Yes, owning a cottontail is illegal. I had every intention to release him once he was weaned at 3 weeks. However, I dropped him outside and he ran around, but still came up to the porch wanting pets. I decided to keep him at that point. To anyone who may not think they want a rabbit, because they aren't affectionate like dogs or cats, if I can get a wild rabbit to bond with me (a crazy ass woman who hated stinky rabbits) then anything is possible with your buns.

Can you give me some tips on how to pick up my bunny Millie? She hates being picked up and will run away or growl when I try. But other than that she loves people and will run right up to them.

Rabbits don't really like being picked up because they are prey animals. But if you must pick them up, the best way is to scoop them up from behind and make sure to support their bottom with one hand. Then use the other to hold the upper body. I'll try and make a video for it :)

Or that might not work if they bolt as you're trying to gather them up. What works with mine is putting a hand over her eyes so she doesn't see her surroundings fall away/move as she is picked up. Then I pick her up from underneath with my other hand. As soon as she's against my body, I move my hand off her head and put that one under her bottom.

Rabbits love the actual attention, what they aren't keen on is the up and down motions that go with being initially picked up/put down, especially put down. It takes some experience and just growing mellower for a rabbit to get over this, but it can happen. I once had a Dutch rabbit who would just sit there and let me pick him up and put him down, no kicking, nothing. And man what a licker! My lionhead loves to lick and be petted, as well as held on my lap. But she doesn't like the motion of being put down. It's an insecurity thing with them.

Boy do I LOVE rabbits. I used to take my dwarf lop to bed and she would sleep with me and snuggle up to me. My rabbits fur was SO soft and she was all warm and cuddly. I LOVED that little bunny, she once licked all the tears off my face when I was sad. I like the sound of their breathing and I like the tickle of their whiskers too. I once hade her drink water out my hand. She would rather get tickled behind the neck when you went out to see her then go to the food straight away. I used to grow dandelion leaves for her and she loved them. My second rabbit loved parsley, I used to give her big bunches of it and she could eat it within seconds. I'm surprised the never became fat from all the treats I gave her too. Rabbits are perfect pets.
