I agree that women should embrace their grey hairs haha, but if you don't want to damage your hair from chemical dye, you could try henna. My mom uses it and it leaves her hair looking really shiny, covers her grey hairs, and is almost like a hair mask because it makes her hair thicker too. She only does it every few months too, the only catch is that it tints your hair a bit red but I personally think it's really pretty haha. Although the tint is easier to ignore if you have dark hair I wouldn't recommend it to those with lighter hair unless you want a bright red color.

Daaaaang, that looks great, you just saved me so much trouble. Yeah it's expensive but more than that I just HATE going to the hairdresser and trying to explain and seeing if they get it right. As for gray hairs, I gave myself highlights with a lemon. (You put lemon juice liberally on your hair in streaks and then sit in the sun. The bottled stuff doesn't work, you need a real lemon.) the highlights turned out really subtle but actually they hid the gray hairs very well. But my hair is medium brown, not dark like yours.

Beautiful hair, did a good DIY job! It's give me the confidence to go ahead and do mine, mine hasn't been cut for 5 years and it's past my coxyx bone it's sooo long but about 6 inches of it of it is so dead, been using hairdressing scissors to trim fringe every 2 months but going to do the length today
@WhatashameMaryJane5 жыл бұрын
Oh yes I got to that point too with my hair 😅 Let me know how it goes! And please make sure to be aware that all hair length is dead. The cosmetic industry tries to convince us that it's "alive" because this way they can sell more products that "absorbe" in the hair, but that's just a lie. Only the roots of the hair are alive: that's pure science. Peace ✌

Last time I was on a plane I had big fabric scissors in my carry-on bag (along with my sewing machine stuff) and no one bat an eyelash at the airport.

Your hair is gorgeous. What products do you use while travelling?
@WhatashameMaryJane5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Suzy! I use the cheapest shampoo I find in the supermarket and the cheapest conditioner. Eh eh 😅 I studied how the skin and the hair work a few years ago when I started producing my cosmetics by my own, and I discovered that, despite what all cosmetic advertisers and beauty bloggers say, the length of the hair is made of dead material. Therefore there's no such thing as "your hair will absorb all the good nutrients in the product". The only part we need to pay attention to is the skin of the head. If you want you hair to look shinier, you can put some product that will give you the result, but it stays on the surface of the hair and doesn't penetrate (it will get washed away in your next shower). So all I do is having a balanced diet, move my body as much as I can (I don't go to the gym, but I always take stairs over escalators and move by bike everywhere in the cities), avoid polluted areas and stay outdoors in the green as much as I can. 😊
@WhatashameMaryJane5 жыл бұрын
@Osito Kintsugi yes I know. People in general want quick fixes and the marketing of cosmetics give it to them. But quick fixes don't last. Ever. Where are you from?
@WhatashameMaryJane5 жыл бұрын
@Osito Kintsugi Ah we are close now then, I'm staying in NYC for a few months! I'm glad to hear these words from an American then, cause with all these American beauty youtubers who do "favorites of the months" and "best products" it seems like everything is marketing here :(
@amarvarma97015 жыл бұрын
@@WhatashameMaryJane ******* The only part we need to pay attention to is the skin of the head. If you want you hair to look shinier, you can put some product that will give you the result, but it stays on the surface of the hair and doesn't penetrate (it will get washed away in your next shower). *********** Mary Jane...... you are almost correct here. But skin can absorb way more than you think. Of course it also stays on the hair as you apply, but the product can be absorbed by the skin. If it does only stay on the skin or the hair then some people should not get any allergic reactions to some hair products, eg. some people get terrible allergic reactions for some hair dye products that lasts for weeks. So, the point is that your skin on your head, if not all over your body, indeed absorbs what you apply onto it. But the amount of absorption depends on how well you massage it. Just to add a bit extra information......... if you think your head and hair looks oily/greasy too quickly, then try applying coconut oil in the evening. You can massage your head properly (In general you hear this all the time; gently massage your head while applying! I tell you the opposite......... all you beautiful girls who are reading this, trust me...... it is ok massaging your head with some pressure. After all, this removes the dead cells from forming a thin coat on the skin). The next day, either you can have a head bath or you can leave it as such. The advantage of it is coconut oil has anti-fungal properties. Regular applying prevents the odor that comes from the yeast growth and you will recognise that the hair is not turning greasy too soon, next time when you take a head bath. The only problem with applying oils to your head is..... it makes your hair look less voluminous when you apply. Do not worry, your hair density has not gone anywhere and it is still there. As the extra oil goes away, while you sleep, you will see the volume bouncing back to you. Watch out the quantity of oil when you apply.

Who is here after Brad Mondo made a video about this 🤣🤣🤣 Are you Italian? You use plural for hair and it's so cute!
@amarvarma97015 жыл бұрын
It sounds as if she was using plural form for hair. 1) 'Hair somehow' can be heard as 'Hairs-somehow'! 2) 'Cut them'. She was referring to the hair from two zones: front hair and back hair. Hence the usage of 'them' is appropriate in this context. 3) 'Grey hair' and the 'them'. She has some grey hairs and so using 'them' to refer to those grey hair strands is correct. @MaryJane Though you haven't used plural form for hair.. .. it's still so cute!
@WhatashameMaryJane5 жыл бұрын
😅😅😅 You busted me! Yes girls I'm Italian 😊 Even if my English now is pretty fluent, the fact that hair is singular just doesn't make any sense for us I guess...so it's very hard to use it properly! I'm glad you find it cute rather than irritating 🙄😅

Thanks Varma for the nice analysis...but I must admit, it's very hard for me to consider hair singular so if I'm doing something else while talking like in this case and I don't pay so much attention to the words I'm using, I'll use hair as a plural 😜 (Sorry I just realised that Varma is probably a male name right?)

I was just thinking, I had beautiful long shiny brown hair yours, but I started going grey at 16. I've been dyeing my hair since I was 20, and I stopped last year. I have a lot of hair like you, and it takes two boxes of dye, it grows very fast (you see the white roots very soon) so I need to do it every month, it makes a huge mess in the bathroom and stains my towels. I have lots and lots of greys at 33, and I've had enough of the shame and hiding them. My hair is very wirey now, it used to be sleek and shiny :( that's the saddest part, but I don't care about it being white. Last time I went to get my hair cut the hairstylist hated my greys and told me to dye it, so maybe I'll be cutting my own hair this way from now on :^\

Hi Esther, a couple of years after this video, I now have much more grey hair. People (friends, relatives) keep "informing" me: "You know you have a lot of grey hair behind your ears, you should go dye them!" 🤦♀️ 🤦♀️ 🤦♀️ (as if I didn't know and as if it was an obvious choice to dye them) I never dyed my hair and I never will. My hair is also getting wirey and I never liked ununiformity of color, but I don't care. That's the way I am and I appreciate it.

@@WhatashameMaryJane I think there is some great humour in showing it off, it kind of messes with people's expectations of women wanting to hide what's considered flaws by the cosmetic industry. I have found a lot of peace in embracing it, and when people point it out I'm like "Yah I'm an old lady! Respect your elders!"

If u don't have split ends after going to town with that butchers knife, I assume it's made of vibranium

Brad Mondo was really fucking unfair to her :/ She even says in the video that she's been cutting her hair for a while, and doesn't care *that* much about how it looks. Honestly, I quite liked this hair style tbh
