I'm so happy you all liked the video ;) I know there are hairdressers that are against cutting your own hair. They have commented on this video as well as the one I recorded prior and I respect everyone's opinion but I have to say that the only reason I ever started cutting my own hair was because hairdresser after hairdresser continued to cut my hair wrong. I would leave every time unhappy and sometimes crying because they would chop off so much hair. Since I began cutting it I have been so happy and I have heard this from so many of my viewers that have tried my past technique. I am not saying everyone should cut their hair like me. If you want to go to a hairdresser then do that. I simply post my videos so I can share the way I do things and hope it helps some of you all along the way. To each their own ;) peace & love xoxo

Same here!! i started coloring my own hair YEARS ago since blonde seemed to always = bleach for most people and I never ended up with the color i wanted! I'm going to give this a try!! u have beautiful hair... !

oh the comments... haha... ive done both. gone to high end hairstylist, and cut my own hair. i preffer to cut my own hair. hairstylist always mess up my hair, and if i mess mine up its ok. im not paying for a mistake. great vid jen. keep em coming.

I cut my own hair too, because hairdressers think they can chop off your hair and get away with it. Well, I'm happy to say, my hair is healthier than ever, and I control how much I want off. Thank goodness for ladies like you that are kind enough to share these videos. Maybe hairdressers will be more careful when cutting clients' hair, otherwise they will lose them to youtubers :)

I watched your tutorial a few times, gained a bit of courage and decided cut my hair just like the way you demonstrated. I cut a few more layers than you did because every time I asked my hair stylist to cut more layers, she always seemed a bit reluctant. I have to tell you, I LOVE MY LAYERS!!! Of all of the videos I have viewed to cut my hair, this is the one I felt comfortable and secure in trying. I went through each step on Saturday and I have no regrets. My layers came out perfectly. The shears are easy to use and I will look forward to keeping my hair trimmed at home instead of a salon. And thanks for showing each step for each layer, this helped me so much.

Yes, I agree and the hairdressers have done it to themselves. Instead of following our requests, they do what they want to our hair and have us pay them for it. It's great to have the encouragement from people like you to cut our own hair, thanks:)

Love this tutorial !! I cut it just how you did, about a week ago. After a couple of washes, I can honestly say I love it !! I did add 1 extra step that made it perfect for me. The first step you do, I inccorporate it as the last extra step. I don't cut a lot, I just do a straight micro trim. Love how my hair looks straight/ wavy/curly. 💜

After watching this video at least 6 times I gained the courage to cut my hair! Like you, my hair is super thick and when it came to the twisting part, it was a little difficult but managed to figure it out. I was absolutely shocked how amazing it looked. I'm a hairdresser and I have no problem with someone wanting to cut their own hair, in fact I teach a lot of my clients who are interested, it's actually good for business. I'm curious what the back of your hair cuts look like, you didn't show it in either video. I also cut my own hair granted I did pay lots of money to learn how to cut hair, but they don't teach us to do our own, we just figure it out and sadly we can't seem to leave it alone. My hair is very fine, so I'm kinda thinking your style of cutting is best for those with a heavy texture of hair, just one silly old hairdressers opinion. Your hair is very beautiful and your cutting style work great for you, very beautiful. I'm sorry you had bad experience with hairdresser. You have very beautiful hair... Too I didn't like my hair cut by anyone else...a hairdresser I knew years ago taught me how to get bangs to be evenly cut to where it would tapered down the temples evenly.....you get only the bangs(make a 'V ' the point toward the crown..upside down ' v ') .....wet it..comb it...bring it to the bridge of the nose tight to where you have a short tight patch...cut one straight cut across the pulled together hair...when you let go....it goes evenly down the temples on each side..this way you don't have to twist the bangs.......great to do with kids so you can trim often....with no cost....but remember hair SHRINKS when it dries...when I do mine I make it long toward the end of the nose...if it's too long.I just re do it.....a child's doll is good to practice on too...the trick is pulling the bangs as close to the bridge of the nose as possible,...then if you want to have the sides even with the bangs....pull the hair up to meet the last strand and use it as a guide

I am 50 years old and have gone to cheap and high end salons and only a handful of times have I ever gotten the type of hair cut I asked for .some of them where still good hair cuts but others where uneven and sloppy and not at all what I asked for ,that happened at a few high end salons with supposedly master hair cutters .6 years ago I was so upset I got the worst hair cut after growing my hair out for two years then going to hair dresser who didn't know how to give me this hair cut and ruined my hair n cut way to much off and it was so uneven I had to go home and try to fix the front of my hair .never again so thank you for your video ,I have been cutting my own hair for past 6 years and love it .I am going to use your technique as soon as I get a new pair of scissors. Your hair looks great. And sorry ,but hair dressers need to let people be .I can't even with their know it all attitudes when you all become Sam villa then we can talk .oh as a matter of factly .all you hair dressers need to go to Sam villas free education about cutting hair .

I cut my hair using your method, and I love how it came out! I have mostly straight hair, and although it's very fine, I have a lot of it, and I like to keep it long. I've had too many bad experiences at salons around my area, and I'm scared to let people touch my hair, so I've been cutting it myself for a while now, but I was tired of the same techniques. Using your method, I got the layers I wanted, without losing the length. I wet-set my hair with foam rollers or curlformers pretty often, so I can't wait to see what my hair will look like curly! I tried this technique a few months ago but didn't cut much because I was afraid of how it would turn out. Today I did this and then went back to redo it all over again, taking off more hair. I love it. My hair is just below my bra clasp (I plan to grow it to my waist) so with the shorter layers in the front, I can easily apply big rollers and style it so that my hair looks big vs flat with no shape. Thanks; this is great.

Oh I really liked your video. I've been researching for ways to cut my own hair so I don't have to depend on other people to do it (wrongly) and to save myself some money. I just found this video!!! This, by far is exactly what I have been looking for, a haircut using both types of scissors. I have both, but didn't know how to really use the cutting shears. Thanks for this tutorial that I will watch again before I start and while I'm cutting!! I've already cut my hair watching another do it yourself tutorial and didn't do so well 🤕!! This was a life saver! I have looooong curly hair (below my but and I am 5'6) and hairdressers NEVER get it right so I stopped going to the salon until I finally could not deal with my super long hair anymore. I saw your tutorial and decided to take the chance!!! what a great job, I am so happy I can do my own hair and not pay hundreds for a job that I am never satisfied with.
