This is what happens when I get a bug in my bonnet! Once I decide I want a particular haircut it doesn’t take long before I’m cutting it off!

I shaved my head almost two years (video on channel before I lost 50lbs)ago just bc my hair was fried from dying it and I always wanted to shave it. People continuously told me they wished they could pull it off or they wished they were confident enough to do it. Gender roles for hair are ridiculous. You’re the one washing and styling it, do what you want! It was the most freeing experience ever! Love your hair!

My hairdresser told me a few months back that I have fine hair, but I have a lot of it. To me it's the same as telling me you have pennies, but you have a lot of them. Practically worthless. My hair is also stick straight. I have been fighting myself for the last month not to go into the bathroom and grab the hubby's clippers. No one, not my mom (may she rest in peace), my sister, my husband like me in short hair. I wear it up every, Every, day with a clip on or hair wrap piece. I have an appointment with my stylist in 2 weeks. Thinking of saying the heck with it and getting a pixie. But my other problem is, I get up a 3 am to be to work a 5 am, and I am NOT a morning person.

May I tell you, from the bottom of my heart, you are one brave soul! Truly. I went to Cosmetology School in the mid 70’s I have done many many hundreds of haircuts. Your is my favorite style. I wore a signature Dorothy Hamill for, about, oh, 35 years. I have baby fine hair, and it suited me. But never(ever, never ) would I cut my own hair. Brave woman. I can trim my bangs, but that is it. You have nerves of steel. And you and your haircut are really cute! It was fun watching!

I love your video! I watched this laughing the entire time because you sound me talking to myself in my head while I cut my own hair. You're just saying it out loud. You're so right! Thin/fine hair looks so much better shorter. I have fine hair, but it grows very fast so I always over cut it knowing it will come right back. Plus, it has so much more volume and shapes my face well! Your pixie turned out great!

My husband always cuts his own hair in the bathroom with a couple mirrors. I see these videos and I am definitely impressed that people can do that. He cuts my hair for me every couple months and he does the full sectioning and pinning up my long hair and then letting it down in increments to trim each layer. I estimate it takes him about twenty minutes start to finish, and a large part of that time is the sectioning and letting down each layer rather than the actual cutting. I agree with you that using the clippers looks like fun, but my two teen age boys fired me from giving them haircuts when they were quite young. I do like to watch him do their haircuts and he has also given haircuts to friends of mine, but no one will let me cut their hair. Last month I had a couple friends visit to grill on the deck and both asked hubby for a haircut. One just a trim on her long hair, the other wanted her overgrown pixie cut short, which he did with the clippers. He did a great job, but I would have been too afraid to cut her hair with the clippers like he did.
@thestacystory1663 жыл бұрын
Keri Hatgirl section definitely gives you more control! If you take the time to section it makes the actual cutting much easier. Did he go to cosmetology or barber school or did he just figure it out himself? Either way it’s a good time to have those skills since who knows when salons will be open for good! Also I would say that the hardest clients I’ve ever had are teenage (14-16ish) boys. Super picky! So I would be a little relieved that the hubby is taking over that job🤣
@kerihatgirl89903 жыл бұрын
He learned it along the way after he has a friend that was a hairdresser show him how to cut her hair. As for giving my two teen boys their haircuts, he has easily given each over a hundred haircuts over the years. They tell him how they want him to cut their hair and he does. Both are very picky about their hair and they like his work. I have had friends, teachers and parents of my boys’ friends ask where I take them to get their haircuts as he does such a great job. He has no intention of getting a license to start another career, but he has no problem giving a haircut to one of my friends when they ask. My mother thought it was terrible that I had him cut hair, she thought I should go to the salon and pay for haircuts. A couple years ago, she got a bad haircut at her salon that she paid too much for and commented that my husband would have done a better job. Well a few months later when she was visiting while my boys were getting their haircuts, she mentioned she needed her hair cut, and I told her that she was next, have a seat and get a haircut. Well she actually took a seat on the stool and she had him trim an inch off her shoulder skimming bob. She was happy with the results and after that she talks about how much she in saving. Go figure.

Well done. I wouldn't have dared do it myself so got a hairdresser to do it. Love my pixie cut, it takes just a few minutes to dry and style it after washing it.
@thestacystory1663 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Rosemary! The reduced drying and styling time is the biggest advantage of a short haircut for me😊

Love it!! I cut mine, too. But, still have a little to much in the back as you had. I do wish you had shown how you went back and got rid of that. But, wow it looks great!
@thestacystory1663 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!😊 When you say too much in the back are you talking about the neckline or the weight line? I went back with a #1 around the neckline and used my thinning shears along the weight line to blend it out some.
@barbshofner16853 жыл бұрын
I have no problem with the neck line.I was a little concerned about the using the thinning shears to much.
@thestacystory1663 жыл бұрын
@@barbshofner1685 that is a valid concern! Next time I do a cut I’ll blend out the weight line and show how I do it 👍🏻

Love it....used to do it all the time....my dad was. BARBER and I was his apprentice. Great job!! At the moment, my hair is finally below my shoulders. Following 3 surgeries in 2019 & anesthesia causes much hair loss for me...so b4 going in for each surgery I pixied it close. ( with the first surgery beng shoulder repair...short was sweet).
@thestacystory1663 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much!😊You definitely can’t do much with your hair after shoulder surgery so a pixie was a great idea!

Thank you so much! And I believe that’s called self efficacy. It’s a new term for me but I’m pretty sure it’s the personality trait that causes that self reliance.

Indeed! You took me back to developmental educational psychology. Lol I also agree with something you mentioned, about learning how to do something the correct way, and then adapting your own method of doing it.

@@thestacystory166 You are very welcome!! I love your haircut!! It looks great on you!! My hair is short, too. I live in Houston, Texas. It's very hot and humid most of the year down here where we live. So, keeping my hair short is a better option for me, than having long hair. I don't care what people say or what they think. I do my own thing. I love it!! God bless you, honey!! Stay strong and well!! 💖💖💖

Wow! Super brave! Great job cutting your own hair. However I wouldn’t call that a pixie, more of a bob. I was a hairdresser for 35 years and it’s not that easy to cut your own hair. Kudos
@thestacystory1663 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I agree about it not being easy and sometimes I do better than others.🤣
@carolirvine76633 жыл бұрын
It's what is referred to as a pixie today - It's not the old pixie from years ago where it was short all over and fringy around the face - I wear a bob and it has a bit of length and angles back to front - I guess and time goes by the names of different styles change

WOW….what a great job! Love it! Have been cutting my own short hair for years and do have 1 sugg for you……hang that hand mirror on the shower rod behind you. Thn you can look into each mirror while cutting. I also make sure I have a lighter background bc I have brownish-gray hair. But your best comment was….it’s hair and it WILL grow back! 👍🏻👍🏻
