No, as a long time Christian who has studied the Bible regularly for over 50 years, there are many actual contradictions which is exactly what you would expect of an anthology of books written my many different people over 1600 years. Your faith is supposed to be in the deity, sacrificial death and Resurrection of Jeus of Nazareth NOT the perfection of a book. The book just tells you about the God-man Jesus. It was NEVER meant to be the center of faith and worship. Let's take two examples: 1) The genealogies of David/ Jesus mentioned in the video. a) BOTH of Matthew and Luke's clearly claim to be the genealogy of JOSEPH, NOT Mary. Mary was probably a Levite as was her cousin Elizabeth. Tradition says that Mary's parents were called Joachim and Anna NOT Jacob (Matthew) or Heli( Luke). b) Both Genealogies try to trace the line back through Zerubabbel or Zorobabbel - the last real governor under Cyrus the Persian of the line of David in the return. Makes sense BUT they both have the same father for Zorobabbel but NOT the same grandfather and I Chronicles 3:19 which both Matt aand Luke should have known says Zorobabbel' dad was Pedaiah not Salathiel. None of of Zorobabel's sons in I Chorn match either Matt or Luke. It is a mess. The simplest answer is that BOTH Matthew and Luke are wrong, so why does this not bother me?? i) Because my faith is not built on the research skills of Mathew and Luke. I trust they relate what they were told. I trust that they give good account of what they or in Luke's case, the people he interview witnessed. ii) There is no reasonable way that the records of David's heirs existed by 30 AD Or 3 BC. I know this because if they HAD existed Herod the Great would have killed everybody on the list and he didn't. By the time of the Maccabees, ~ 165 BC ,there was no list. There was no son of David to oppose the Greco-Syrians of Antioch and the priests, the descendants of Aaron and Levi sat on Judea's throne until Herod came around. iii) My faith and YOUR faith in Jesus as Messiah should not depend on him being a son of David. Most Judeans by 30 AD were somehow related to the line of Davis. It had been 700 years and maybe 35 generations. Hundreds of thousands of Jews were "sons of David". Jesus NEVER relied on that tho people called him that. My faith is based where Paul's was - on the know and attested fact that Jesus was crucified like Psalms 22 says and he rose from the dead. Matthew was an eyewitness to that. Luke talked to hundreds of eye witnesses to that. Who cares who the grandfather of the only man to predict his own resurrection and actually pull it off. 2) Let's go doctrinal instead of historical for the other plain contradiction: Both Paul (I Cor 12:3)and John (I John 4:15) clearly say that NO ONE can call Jesus Lord except by the Holy Spirit. They are both wrong and you should know they are wrong in this. WHY? Because Jesus says so in Matthew 7:22-23 " Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." How do we know which is right? Jesus rose from the dead and the other two did not.

@@johnbreitmeier3268 dig deeper! (And yes i read your comment). All the claimed controversies are explained by understanding. God Himself said if you get anything get understanding. Not trying to provoke, i find seeking out controversy is rather wasted time unless God is wanting you to see something for your personal sake. The old testament i find is accurate as historical documents and even more so as a spiritual pattern to reflect your spriritual journey, similar to reading pilgrims progress. I once met a man, a preacher, who thought if one followed scripture you'd be the perfect man. I told him he would be dead and lifeless. He challenged me 'how dare you talk against the Bible!' Then i quoted matthew 7. His jaw dropped as i could see it was not I that brought revelation, but God used me in that moment. God gave him understanding at that moment. And then he wondered what i was babbling about mentioning 'walking in the Spirit'. As best as i could he could not understand, but months later he was preaching it, cause He pursued God and understanding of the scriptures.

There is a simpler explanation for the lack of 14 generations in the last grouping of the Matthew genealogy for Jesus that satisfies that problem and the one of it appearing that neither of the genealogies in Luke and Matthew seem to support that Jesus was descended from David. Several men have discovered dozens of what appear to be scans of original Matthew gospel copies and they read that "Joseph, the father of Mary", instead of "Joseph the husband of Mary". So according to them both Mary's husband and her father were named Joseph and there may have been a translation or copying error in the later versions. The men I have been following on this issue are Dr. Nehemia Gordon, Michael Rood, and Dr. Miles Jones. Nehemia Gordon is an accomplished Karaite Jewish biblical scholar with access to ancient Bible manuscripts that few others have. These manuscripts come from libraries, private collections, and even from ones that had been preserved in Cochin, India, where Thomas and the stranded Jews from Solomon's time were located. Michael Rood and Miles Jones state that many early church fathers declared that Matthew had originally been written in Hebrew, even though modern academics claim Greek. Search the names for more information on the subject.

There are no contradictions in Gods word. But there are gaps in our understanding. Sometimes we misunderstand because we don’t understand the original Jewish context. A “contradiction” is usually an invitation to dig deeper. In the Jewish context, this is called “remez”. Matthew often wrote from a Jewish midrashic perspective, which his readers would have understood at the time.

Or was the Pharaoh so stupid he thought she conceived and gave birth to a child without ever being pregnant? He never questioned the whereabouts of the father or say anything about her having a baby out of wedlock? 3rd - King James Bible, 1st Corinthians 13:4 ...When and why was "love" swapped out for "charity"? Two words with two totally different definitions.
@joshuastevens232
@joshuastevens232 7 ай бұрын
Hey brother, I love that you're asking questions! It is so God-honoring, and God rejoices in the truth!! I hope this helps. 1. There were multiple people alive when Cain killed Abel. The Bible never says that Cain, Abel, Adam, and Eve were the only four people on Earth at the time when Abel was killed. They were alive for YEARS, it makes to suspect that YEARS had passed, multiple humans were born, and Cain killed Abel years after they had been born. 2. It never says that Moses was hidden from Pharaoh by his daughter. There was no scheming in Exodus 2 concerning Pharaoh's daughter. Pharoah's daughter took Moses because when she opened the ark baby Moses was in he wept and she had compassion on him (Exodus 2:4). Also, according to Exodus 2, Moses always knew he was Jewish, his heritage was never hidden from him, and his birth mother was ordered by Pharaoh's daughter to care for him until he had grown a little and then he was brought to Pharaoh's daughter and then he became her son (Exodus 2:5-10). According to Exodus 2, there was time that passed between Pharaoh's daughter finding Moses and then him being given back to Pharaoh's daughter after she had ordered his birth mother to nurse him for some time. There was significant time that passed. Nursing a child is longer than a month! In that time Pharaoh's anger could have just become bored with the idea of murdering every single newborn, and he honestly might have viewed this Hebrew baby as not as significant or just another thing and not a threat to him. Why Pharaoh did not kill Moses is unknown, but what we do know is that Moses' identity was not hidden from himself or anyone in Egypt. Everyone knew he was a Hebrew, but no one in Egypt sought his life after Pharaoh's daughter had compassion and wanted to raise him as her own. She made the decision to have him and it was accepted by everyone else. Perhaps they viewed Moses as Pharaoh's daughter's plaything maybe or who knows but why Pharaoh allowed his daughter to raise him is not important. Pharaoh's daughter wanted him and after years had passed from when she found him, he was given to her as a son and it was accepted. 3. I am reading 1 Corinthians 13 in the interlinear Bible (interlinear just means it shows the original Hebrew and Greek that it was written in with the English meaning for the words right underneath) and the word here that is used is "love". It's from the Greek word "agape" which is a love that transcends every other kind of love, one that is self-giving. Do not freak out over the word "charity" in the King James version because the bible was not originally written in that language. The context of the word "charity" in that passage also talks about love that is sacrificial, charity in the fact of giving yourself to others. But the original Greek Word "agape" should appropriately be translated as love and giving yourself is a part of that Greek definition of love. There are multiple "loves" in Ancient Greek: sexual, brotherly, etc. Agape refers to a love transcending all of that and where one gives of themselves. Here's a link for the original Greek word used in that passage! www.preceptaustin.org/love-agape

Dr Brown, yI have watched some of your videos and believe you have only considered the short-term fulfillment of Jesus' reference to Daniel 12. There is also a long-term fulfillment that spans thousands of years that clearly places the rapture during the sixth seal, which occurs prior to the start of the wrath of G-D as defined in the Trumpets, Thunders, and Bowls. Jesus mentioned the seals but did not talk about the wrath because the rapture he spoke of occurred prior to the wrath as defined above. By the way, the wrath of G-D occurs over the entire "seven" years. Briefly: the two witnesses begin their ministry 1,260 days before they are murdered by the beast. The beast reigns for 42 months If you read about the authority of the two witnesses and compare it with the authority of the beast, these two timeframes "cannot" overlap. Now if you accept the chronology of events clearly described in Revelation, it is easy enough to determine the first six trumpets are sounded during the ministry of the two witnesses, which occurs during the first 3.5 years of Daniel's 70th week. While I appreciate all of the perspectives you have presented, there is so much you have not considered that clearly supports the pre-trib position. For example, in the Olivet discourse, Yashua was referencing the long-term fulfillment of Daniel 12. How the rapture fits in with the prophetic fulfillment of the fall feasts of Israel. How Daniel's 70th week fit in with the final 45 years of Daniel's prophecy (i.e., from the 1,290th to the 1,335th days/years), how Daniel's prophecies precisely predict the exact year of the rebirth of Israel in 1948, why Daniel prophesied of a 1,290-day cycle when he did not understand what the time, times, and 1/2 time meant, how the prophetic fulfillment of the Jubilee calculates to the exact year of the start of the time of the end, which is defined by Daniel's 45 years. BTW, regarding the argument that pre-tribbers may be devastated into falling away if the pre-trib rapture does not happen, those who posit the previous have got it completely backwards. If the rapture does not happen, I'll just say that I was wrong. Granted, I will be disappointed. That said, I don't know any pre-tribbers who would reject their relationship with G-D just because the rapture did not happen. However, for those who are post-trib, if the pre-trib rapture occurs and they are left behind, they will be in total fear that they have lost their salvation. It is the post-tribbers who will be devastated if they are wrong, not the pre-tribbers. BTW, for those who are post-trib and whose hearts are truly committed to G-D, they will go up in the pre-trib rapture. G-D will not reject anyone whose theology ends up being incorrect. Salvation is not dependent on how smart we are or on how much we know. It is based on our commitment to embrace G-D and the G-D Inspired way of life that Jesus revealed to us. BTW, pre-tribbers are pre-wrath. The main difference between pre-trib and pre-wrath revolves around when we believe the wrath begins (i.e., at the beginning of Daniel's 70th week at the time two witnesses begin thier ministry and the 144,000 are sealed or during the second half of the tribulation when the beast is ruling). One other point, ifor those who are pre-wrath or post trib in the sense that it is commonly taught today, it is unlikely that many believers will survive the reign of the beast empire. Look at what is going on around us today, how quickly those surveillance and digital technologies are developing, and what is planned for the very near future. When the beast is given authority over the nations of the world, which includes the Christian Believers who are on the earth at that time, there will be very few who are able to survive to the end of Daniel's 70th week. I wish you the best. However, I would encourage you to look into some of the things I have mentioned above. There is so much additional information to support the pre-trib position that I'm not hearing anyone talk about. Blessings!!!!! ABM

Sam Harris and the reason project found near 70,000 contradictions (man-made errors) between the canonical Greek New Testament and the Masoretic Text version of the Torah. Do you think the Bible is supposed to be that way? Here's what generated the contradictions: During the Babylonian captivity the "harlot of Babylon" syncretized God's biblical titles, those being El, Elah and Elohim, to all simply mean "God". So from 500-600bc to this day El still means God, which is cool, but Elah also just means God... and Elohim...yep, just means God. "Majestic plural" or some nonsense. Anyone think that creates a lot of contradictions in the Bible? Apparently it creates near 70,000. The Church even made it heretical to call Yahweh Elohim from Genesis 2 the bad guy of the Old Testament. This spawned "apologetics" (how the bad guy isn't actually the bad guy; lies). They did this because the Septuagint just said Theos everywhere that El, Elah and Elohim should be. So, the Greeks thought Yahweh was introduced as "Theos" in Genesis 2. The Vulgate does the same thing it just says Deus in all the places El, Elah and Elohim should be. Also, the Latin people thought Yahweh was introduced as "Deus" in Genesis 2. Modern English Bibles still do this with removing God's titles. Most just say God and LORD God everywhere. Try using the NOG translation it's on Bible Gateway and also there's a free App on your phone. Doesn't remove God's titles or the name of the created being Yahweh Elohim from Genesis 2. 1. the Bible introduces Yahweh as "Yahweh Elohim" in Genesis 2. 2. the vast majority of the time Yahweh himself says "I am Yahweh your Elohim" but does call himself a/an El on rare occasion. 3. Yahweh’s followers frequently confuse these titles. Here's an example: Exodus 15:2 Names of God Bible Yah is my strength and my song. He is my Savior. This is my El, and I will praise him, my father’s Elohim, and I will honor him. Remember to use a different language when you want info on God's titles. Hebrew is forever syncretized. "The Names of God are too Holy to be read or spoken aloud"...El, Elah and Elohim are titles, not names btw. 🤦‍♂️ The Latin counterparts to the Hebrew above are Deus "God", Dea "Goddess" and Dei which has two uses one plural "gods" and one possessive "God's" based on context. Genesis 1 is the possessive context for Elohim. Elohim from Genesis 1 is a title. True Elohim. Genesis 2 is the plural context for Elohim. Yahweh Elohim from Genesis 2 is a name. False Elohim. Amos 5:27 I will send you into exile beyond Damascus, says Yahweh, whose name is Elohe Tsebaoth. BAM! No more contradictions in the Bible. Cohesive story :) (also, somewhat paradoxically, super heretical...because removing contradictions = heresy 🔥)

Theology comes from combining two Greek words: Theos, meaning God, and Logos, meaning Word or rational thought. [The Word is Elohim from Genesis 1] (not to be confused with Yahweh Elohim, the false Elohim, from Genesis 2) Compare John 1: 1-5 with Genesis 1: 1-5: John 1: 1-5 Names of God Bible The Word Becomes Human 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was already with God in the beginning. 3 Everything came into existence through him. Not one thing that exists was made without him. 4 He was the source of life, and that life was the light for humanity. 5 The light shines in the dark, and the dark has never extinguished it. Genesis 1: 1-5 Names of God Bible The Creation 1 In the beginning Elohim created heaven and earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. The Ruach Elohim was hovering over the water. 3 Then Elohim said, “Let there be light!” So there was light. 4 Elohim saw the light was good. So Elohim separated the light from the darkness. 5 Elohim named the light day, and the darkness he named night. There was evening, then morning-the first day. [Genesis 1 Elohim is a title and Genesis 2 Yahweh Elohim is a name; anyone with a name was given a name, a created being] (Amos 5 Names of God Bible 27 I will send you into exile beyond Damascus, says Yahweh, whose name is Elohe Tsebaoth.) Compare: Hebrews 11 Names of God Bible 3 Faith convinces us that God created the world through his word. This means what can be seen was made by something that could not be seen. and: Romans 1 Names of God Bible 25 These people have exchanged God’s truth for a lie. So they have become ungodly and serve what is created rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen! with: Genesis 2 Names of God Bible 2 Heaven and earth and everything in them were finished. 2 By the seventh day ELOHIM had finished the work he had been doing. On the seventh day he stopped the work he had been doing. 3 Then ELOHIM blessed the seventh day and set it apart as holy, because on that day he stopped all his work of creation. The Creation of Man and Woman 4 This is the account of heaven and earth when they were created, at the time when YAHWEH ELOHIM made earth and heaven. What is the difference between created and made? The difference between something being created and something being made is that when something is created it is brought into existence out of nothing. But, when something is made it has been formed out of something else that already exists.

Reasons I don't trust Bart Ehrman: 1.) He claimed Papias claimed Mark left nothing out of his Gospel, yet Mark is the shortest of the four Gospels. Thus Papias is an unreliable source. 2. ) He claimed Lucian's Peregrinus was said to have performed a great miracle, which Christians don't believe in. Thus Christians cherry-pick miracles like Jesus' resurrection to believe in. 3.) He claimed Matthew couldn't have been written by Matthew because he speaks of himself in third person. Reasons why these are bad arguments: 1.) Papias did not claim Mark left nothing out, but rather, "he was careful of one thing, not to omit any of the things which he had heard, and not to state any of them falsely.” Erhman twists Papias words to make Papias unreliable. 2.) Lucien's book The Passing of Peregrinus is a satirical fiction, so of course Christians wouldn't believe in any miracles he did; he wasn't a historical figure, but was made up to make fun of Christians. 3.) St. Augustine himself addressed the Matthew speaking in third person problem in his book Against Faustus, where he appeals to the tradition of many people from the ancient world writing eye-witness accounts in third person. Augustine insists that Faustus is either ignorant or intending to deceive by using this argument. I myself use the Faustus Argument as a litmus test to see how credible or else honest an opponent of Christianity is. Since we know Bart Ehrman is not ignorant (he is a great scholar), then it can only be used as a tool of deception. These are examples of many arguments I've seen Bart Ehrman use. They are things lay-persons do not know but scholars are keenly aware of. Bart Ehrman doesn't use these arguments among scholars, but he uses them on a popular level where people don't know these arguments. If somebody uses an argument that they know is wrong against an opponent they know is ignorant of the flaws of the argument, then they're not arguing for truth, but rather for deception. Sense Ehrman is in the habit of using these fallacious arguments in the presence of ignorant people, I consider him a deceiver who is not to be trusted. Yes, he does also make good arguments against Christianity, but even his best arguments I will take with a grain of salt because of his dishonest track record.

Because Christians like to make up excuses and try to make everything fit , there are so many contradictions in the bible. The main issue for me is that the God of the bible is not that smart. The concept of a Jealous all powerful being that can't get anything right and has nothing to do but to watch a group of people everyday is ridiculous. The god of the bible is not smarter than the people in those days.

Just give us a few contradictions. I mean, the truth and history is complex. If you want to have a quick gloss of the Bible, see something that doesn't quite fit, but can ultimately be satisfactorily accounted for, then just conclude that it is a contradiction, I can't stop you. And, like Dr. Brown literally already said, do you think that the people who wrote the gospels didn't realise these "contradictions". You give them too little credit. Even modern day laymen could construct a narrative without contradictions. The point is that maybe you should look deeper into these so called contradictions and actually give us a few before assuming how smart you are and that you are the first one to notice these. I can definitely say that you are nothing special when it comes to noticing these "contradictions".

I find Bart Ehrman's arguments disingenuous and downright manipulative. He'll make one set of arguments to the general public that he would never make in an academic scholarly setting. Judging the tree by the fruit, I think all of the attention he gets feeds something very unhealthy in him. It's really sad. It reveals that he is as broken and in need of salvation as the rest of us...
