to anybody who is suffering from chronic eczema, please stay strong. I know how alone it can feel, and that nobody understands how hard it is, because the physical and mental anguish this disease brings is just not something that can be imagined without having personally experienced it. but that is also how i know that you are strong. this disease is a terrible thing and not anybody can handle it. but you can, and you have. you have made it this far and you CAN beat this flareup. stay alive. you are loved. there is a whole community of sufferers out there who DO understand and are fighting this with you. you are not alone.

+TowelBowels Thank you. That really means a lot to me, I have eczema that isn't as severe as hers but it still sometimes hurts to bend and stuff. I'm really sensitive about it, and all the concealer and foundation I wear don't work. I hide my arms and put a lot of makeup on and I'm still sensitive about it.

I'm glad you shared you story. I have been through the same things. I have the exact same areas of eczema and level of severity as you do. I've had it since birth and am still working through it. When I hit puberty, it went away VERY quickly. So quickly in fact that I have white scars left over on my feet, elbows, hands, creases of my knees, etc. The dermatologist said it would go away eventually. I have atopic dermatitis so of course it will never go away. Do not you Vaseline or Aquaphor to prevent dryness. Use products in the shower like Aveeno that are hypoallergenic. Use an exfoliator every single time the dryness builds up. In order for the dryness to be prevented it needs to be removed so the moisture can be soaked in. If you have severe inflammation ask your doctor for a steroid topical ointment or pills in severe cases. They are you best bet if it needs to be helped in a short time period.

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for sharing your story. It's amazing to see stories like this pop up, as I, myself have eczema too. It's been roughly 3 months since I had a huge flare up of eczema. I went through several moisturisers, cleansers, creams and all of that, even anti biotics and steroids. This happened on Christmas eve and I went to the hospital Christmas day of last year. As I think of it, I'm 17 with food allergies, pet allergies, seasonal allergies and even dust allergies. There are so many factors and triggers to my eczema. My eczema took a toll on me, because it was on my face and neck. Showering would hurt my skin, and I would be afraid to shower. I would detest it so much. I was basically a reptile during that time, I was scaling so much and my self confidence fell with it. I was swelling and all my family during that time, questioned my face and asked if I were okay. It took around a month for my skin to heal, rebuild its barriers. I went through more drugs then I needed too. I took at least 4 pills a day, prescribed by the hospital. I took another 4 pills a day after seeing my dermatologist. The pills from the hospital did stop the inflamed skin and cooled it. After I finished taking them, my skin started to shed but then it flamed up again. I went from using my regular cera ve, to tryinng cetaphil again, to vaseline, curel and then I met a lady at my local drug mart in the cosmetics section. This was roughly in the beginning of January. I was once agian trying another cosmetics product, which I really had no faith in. It was called Bioderma, and the other Avene. This lady had a niece which had eczema. We obviously tested the product. It was a bioderma sensitive skin facial moisturiser which closed my cracks in my skin. God, it hurt like hell but I sat in the store and waiting. Then she gave me Avene hand creme to put on my face. For the mean time of 2 weeks, it did work on my face until my face started to retort it and go back to being dry. We went to try something new and met another person who actually had eczema herself. She introduced me to La Roche Posay. This was roughly late January. I was using their Lipikar line of shower gel and baume ap + cream. These two things have improved my skin, but now my skin is just dry, The cream does nothing to help my skin. It's weird but I can rub off my skin after continuosly rubbing it when it is wet. My dead skin can peel off with rubbing. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas? I'm deciding on going back to see if the same lady is there and maybe I could use something less concentrated on the lipids of my skin. I need to remove my dry skin. That's all that is left to do. I'm also deciding on maybe testing my diet because I'm realising chicken is starting to bother me now.

I have eczema, but my skin is dry and oily at the same time, so I really don't know how to treat it. Yesterday night my skin started getting itchy and when I woke up this morning my entire face was red and bumpy with these little infected bits and I swear I almost cried it was so bad. It's still really bad right now but I'm going to see a dermatologist tomorrow so hopefully it'll clear up. Honestly, having bad skin is the worst thing ever. It completely destroys my self-confidence every time I have a reaction ://

I really loved this video. It is nice to see someone out there who I can relate to. Just 2 years ago when I started high school I recently started getting eczema around my eyes and mouth, in addition to my neck and chest. I've always had eczema, ever since I was a baby on my arms but I started freaking out when it also started appearing in different places. It is kinda nice to know that my eczema on my eyes and mouth isn't unique to me. My eczema has made me allergic to makeup, everything scented-including lotions, fabric softeners, most laundry soaps, candles, Chapstick, and much more-, and it also prevents my family from ever using the fire place. I like this video because it doesn't make me feel alienated like when I tell other people "what's wrong with me"

This video is awesome! Thanks for being brave and awesome to share you story. I have had eczema all my life and a few things I noticed that have made a huge difference, the soap you use makes a huge impact on your skin. I have finally found (after 29 years) a soap that does not cause an outbreak of itchiness and Cerave moisturizing soap bar is bomb. It's reasonably priced too. Also, you are so right, doctors don't do squat but prescribe overpriced chemicals that only work for x amount of time until your skin becomes immune. Also I have began consistently using aloe Vera on my face directly from the succulent and it's been really helpful but I still have dry patches which sucks but I'm still going to use them until I figure out what my skin likes. As you may know, it's a lot of trial and error! Thanks again

It was itching me a bit but that went away. The swelling is gone, but my skin is dry. I'm having trouble re growing that layer of skin that is a barrier. I use that fresh soy walk. I ordered cerave which is what my doctor recommended ages ago. I'm Very nervous when it comes to applying products under my eyes. Nothing has worked but injustice ordered the cerave eye cream so we'll see. Your skin looks great now. Good for you.

It's anoying when you have a break out and people think you're sick! And you also feel like you can't even bare yourself because you are so itchy! Going for allergy tests soon, can't wait to find out what causes it because it has been getting worst in the last 4 years! Lately I always moisturize twice a day and try to avoid hot showers and I feel it helps alot keeping it 'healed'. Good luck in the future with your skin! :)

I have suffered from eczema my whole life. I learned over the years what makes it react and what to use to SLOWLY heal it. I usually had it on my inner elbows and the back of my knees. The past few years I have started reacting on my face. Last year it was worse on my forehead and it usually causes discoloration of my skin, this year it is around my eyes, my chin and my neck. The main cause for this is because of the transition from summer to winter, cold temperatures are too harsh my skin, I found a routine from trial and error throughout the years. I use Cetaphil moisturizer daily and cortisone only when my skin becomes red and very itchy. I try to keep the environment I am as warm as I can but when it isn't I make sure to keep lotion on me, I have learned not to hide it, if it doesn't seem to heal as quickly as I hoped. Just let time heal which it heals when it becomes more warmer outside. I learned to not let it ruin my confidence but it's not easy to treat sometimes

Your experiences are so close to mine. I really struggled with trying to go out with my breakouts (and no makeup). I skipped so much school because I didn't want people to see how bad it was:/ my advice for anyone with eczema is to use very basic oils and such for skincare. If there's only one ingredient, there's less chance of a reaction. I like using jojoba before bed, and shea butter when my skin gets especially dry. Stay away from cortisone creams unless you're super desperate.

HI there I currently going through this phase were a couple of weeks ago i had an allergy breakout that included red flushes with itchiness around my neck that flared up to my face. the itchy part stayed on my neck though. however, the red flush that took over my face, left me with EXTREMEMLY dry skin on my face. this lasted for about a week or so and then my face was back to normal. During that time, i was taking a particular anti-allergy medication treatment in the form of pills and once the 1-week treatment was over, a week after that was over and my skin had finally regained its old good self, it started all over again. this time however, the face reacted differently presenting only small red blotches on my forehead characterized by dryness. now i am taking the pills again and am half-way through my 2-week treatment. my forehead still has a an area on my left-hand side that has this dryness that just won't go. the worst part is that its gone down to both my eyebrows and not just to one half of my forehead. any tips on how i can get rid of the flakiness/dryness on my eyebrows? they are not loose flakes they are attached and the skin looks sooo dry. i apply coconut oil and/or vaseline day and night to keep then moist but they seem to want to stick to the dryness. Also, i tend to get the same dryness right under the eyebrows (that area where we usually highlight in makeup). I suffered from psoriasis on my scalp for years and i suspect it was only a matter of time for the condition to develop in some other stage at some point but on my face its really a pain especially the flakes. to make things worse; i've had my eyebrows done with semi-permanent tattooing a couple of months earlier before disaster stroked and i can't really apply harsh products on them otherwise i'd have wasted my money on the tattooing procedure. any tips? especially when it comes to applying makeup to the eyebrows and the surrounding area..............any prepping steps you might suggest apart from the usual care routine? thanks

I had it since I was a small baby I have it on my face, hands, ankles, arms and feet. If I don't put my creams on I feel as dry as the desert and it's horrible. I also hate it when people ask you about it as it makes you feel very uncomfortable. When I try to stop itching I resist for a while but then I stop resisting and itch itch itch. After that, I am left with little cuts all over the eczema patches and I always tell myself I'll stop itching from now on but it never seems to be the case. I hate putting on cream and ointment as well. Not only does my skin dry back up after a few hours, but the whole process itself takes what seems like ages. It's so hard to reach places like my back and also the doctor said I've to put the creams on every day but before school there's just never enough time to do it. At gym class sometimes my arms or face flake and it gets revealed because I'm wearing a t shirt. It's so annoying and it makes me feel like I'm the only one with the problem but I'm so glad I'm not. It also gives me very bad dandruff and I always feel stiff after a few hours. Anyways, I have been typing here for ages it's nearly my bedtime :3 I'm super glad I'm not the only one, so STAY STRONG EVERYBODY!!! NEVER GIVE UP YOU KNOW YOU CAN BEAT ECZEMA ONCE AND FOR ALL. I'M HERE WITH YOU. (=•∆•=) :3 :Dbye bye! :3

I have it on my eyelids and my neck :( and possibly my scalp but that could also just be dandruff. I get it off and on on my eyelids a lot but this outbreak has been worst than normal. I have eczema. I used to have mild eczema on my eye lids when I was 3 but it kinda sorta went away. But when I was in 5th grade, I had this really bad breakout and then my lips got really chapped. My dermatologist suggested Balistex. But it made it even worse. But then I started using Chapstick moisturizer which is way better. Then I thought that everything was good until the next summer that was when I got eczema on my cheek. It was super embarrassing it was sooooo red and itchy. My dermatologist recommended CeraVe but that made it sting really bad. I always use Eucerin on my face. Original healing and for eczema. For some reason it flares up for no reason 😑😑 And gets extremely dryer. I still have to use Chapstick. I have to carry it around with me everywhere I go, apply it once every almost half and hour and right before I go to bed, and as soon as I wake up. 😭 i really hope that someone could make a cure 😔😔

I've never heard anyone pronounce "eczema" like that before. I thought you were talking about a different condition at first because you pronounced it so weirdly... But I understand you completely. Eczema runs in my family and it's so painful and frustrating. My sister currently has it all over her arms, legs and stomach and it's EXTREMELY painful to go in the shower. She's already had it for four months and nothing seems to be working. We've tried cutting dairy and meat out of her diet but it's only made a slight improvement. The real problem is the itching, and I completely agree with you there. She itches it so much it bleeds and it's so sad to watch :c I just wish there was some way of making it go away forever.

I had on all of my face, my abdomen, hands, knees...now I have on my ears, on my hands the same, neck...before I know what it is (I spend 2 years in the doctors to find what I have) and I taked the same rude words in my school...when I had to stay with someone in the desk they just move their chair out of the desk...my teachers said to me that maybe is something contagious and they where just rude...they said to me to freeze that year and stay home...so yeah...but the problem is that I am alergic at nikel and I can't avoid it...it's in my body, in the earth...so yeah...now I used all the hydrocortizon cream and it had no effect and in the past it had...so I don't know what to do...this is why I'm here :))))

I'm 28 and have had eczema my entire life. after having children, unfortunately its only gotten worse. I have it on the hands as well. It is the worst thing ever. I'm extremely self conscious about it. I have days where I do not want to get out of bed. It's that bad.

I've had this my entire life, it comes back in different spots each year and no creams work for me, ive been in emergency before because the skin on my hands looked like it was melting off and i could not move without it bleeding or oozing. I started juicing and within 2 days i could see my skin was clearing up. within a week it was all gone.

It sucks having eczema, i'm 17 and this is the first time i'm getting it - Under my eye area. I'm so insecure about it. It's been more than 3 months now and it still comes and go's. I will try your recommendation.

I have severe eczema on my wrists and hands and the rest of my body. I also break out sometimes on my eyes and coming from a person who has eczema all over my body eczema on the eyes and face is the worst because it is the most noticeable, because when people talk to you they look directly at your eyes and yeah it sucks. And I cant believe those people said that to you, that is honestly like so mean. I can really relate to that though, when I was younger I was sitting down next to this girl and she scooted away from me because she saw my skin.. It made me feel really bad and I also got these looks from other people like I am a monster or something. I just got so fed up by it all that ever since those days I usually always cover up my skin in public. I also have a really really REALLY low self esteem.. Needless to say eczema can destroy your life, but only if you let it and I am trying to change my mentality and BEAT eczema. And I loved your video... thanks for sharing!

I have eczema, I was born with it. I'm continuously having it somewhere. The little bumps are on my fingers aren't bad but almost always there. And thank you SO much for telling me it spreads. And I have some acne too.😩 I used Stridex pads 3 times a day and now my face is dry but oily at the same time even worse and it's so annoying! But I also have eczema inside my elbows and knees. My scalp is also very dry.. Let's just say I don't have good skin😒

Wow, I love the Ending of this Video with the encouraging Statements and epecially: what you drew out of the experience! That's wonderful! I only have very little eczema and its limited to the face. Although I'm used to walking around with red eyes (Hayfever) you experience alot of shame when your face looks weird and you cant put makeup on cuz you know its gonna get worse... Thanks for your story!

I suffer from eczema too. At the moment i have it on my face, hands, neck, scalp, chest, shoulders and arms. Im also getting small patches on my feet. I know how painful it can be. I don't know what to do and it is affecting me emotionally as well. I did have a lot of flares on my face along with oozing. At the moment that is gone but I am still suffering from extrely dry flaky skin.

I have this also. I know exactly how you feel. The only thing that eases the eczema for me, is natural sunlight. Nothing else seems to help much. I hope you find something soon. You're not alone.

Thank you for sharing your story. Although my eczema isn't as severe as yours was now, when I was little it was terrible. My mom said that sometimes she would wake up and find blood on my shirts from me scratching myself. I have eczema in similar placed like you do. When I was little and still to this day, I had eczema around my mouth, on my arm, neck, and on my eyelid. As I grew up, I learned to take care of my skin and have gotten much better. However, I have random times when I break out. When I was around 12-13, eczema started to show up on my shoulders and it was so weird I never wore Tank tops. Btw, does anyone else's eczema burn a lot when they sweat?

Be careful with the hydrocortisone creams on your eyelids. Make sure to check with your doctor or dermatologist because it can hurt your eyes. My doctor advised me to only use it on my neck flare ups since it is a topical cream and can damage your eyes.

Hey megan, Great video, thanks for sharing... I find that keeping stress levels down can really increase the chances of keeping Eczema in check. It doesnt stop it but it helps never seems to be as bad when Im chilled out and not stressed. Nr 1 tip from me is remove as much stress from your life as possible......

OMG yas, i thought i was just crazy or that i wasn't putting enough on (my face) with the cetaphil moisturizer. I was like, this is suppose to be for really dry skin, and my eczema is really dry skin, so it should be working, but it just seems to make it worse. Thank u for clearing that up for me.

You poor thing, people can be so insensitive. You may want to try things with chamomile in them, it helps to calm things down. Bobbi Brown has a Protective Face Lotion that really helps me. It works almost instantly when I get the little red bumps on my face, I put it on and they start to disappear. Unfortunately, I don't think it's very hydrating, but it does calm the redness. Glad to hear you figured out what works for you, sometimes doctors are no help.

I HAVE THE SAME EXACT THING RIGHT NOW. This has been going on for the past 2 years. I literally want to rip my skin off. It itches soooo much ! I cry here and there because I can’t figure out wth is going on. Cetaphil and up&up bodywash gave me the same bad reactions.
