Would you ever consider joining Floatplane? I'd be much more willing to give a paid sub if you did, especially since I already use it. Maybe something for 2025?
@bkgrila14 сағат бұрын
Glad to see this one eventually released to everyone, since it also works pretty well as an overview for showing more casual viewers what the channel has to offer beyond Yahtzee's tentpole shows.

Oh my god, this is incredible work. The logos, the animation, the distinct designs, how they're inspired by each show's premise... And the way you perfectly and concisely explain the thought process behind them, all in under 9 minutes. This is a masterclass in not just graphic design, but also video presentation. As much as I love the exclusive content, this deserves a wider audience.

I feel like each of these could have been its own episode. I totally respect where you show the things that didn't work in addition to the styles you eventually chose.

I love this process talk because it doesn't just go into design principles (text readability, layout, etc.), but also the thought and meaning behind different symbols and colours used for each design. Thanks for sharing this with us!

I haven't noticed all the details put into each logo. As someone who is trying to make my own things, this was highly informative to me.
@JimTheFly15 сағат бұрын
I think when it comes to designing anything, be it graphics, literature, music, whatever... expect a lot of people to miss a lot of the detail... but those who notice it will ADORE it. However, if it's not there, people will just somehow know it's lacking without even knowing why they feel like that.

As a graphic designer, this is an inspiring video. I love your style.

It's fascinating watching stuff like this, seeing that your first idea for something isn't always the best, and then seeing how you keep the elements that distinguish it for what it is, while improving everything else to keep it stylized but also make it functional. Amazing work.
@GmodPlusWoW14 сағат бұрын
Not gonna lie, even if the initial Firelink logo isn't "thumbnail material", it still looks like it'd make for an EXCELLENT pin-badge. I don't know if you have enamel pin-badges in the pipeline for merch, but I reckon it's well worth having on your radar.

As someone whose fourth-grade art teacher wrote a "friendly" letter to my mother suggested I be "evaluated" (as euphemisms for calling someone's kid the R-word goes, it was a work of art), this may as well have been in Chinese in terms of the art creation process but the passion on offer is something I _can_ understand. Like the passion my mother applied to getting that art teacher fired. Anyway, keep doing what you do, it's awesome.

A quick question about the design for Fully Ramblomatic specifically, was there ever an idea to include some of the design elements of Yahtzee's original Fully Ramblomatic website, like the Watchmen/emoji face or the grey-light blue colour scheme? Also, just want to say that this video is INCREDIBLY inspirational. I've always wanted to know how to expand my visual design skills (I'm a borderline beginner!) and this video was the exact thing I, and presumably hundreds of others, needed?
@thetruemandalorian2637Ай бұрын
Holy. Goddamn. Shit. 1) I could NOT stop smiling watching that the whole time. Seeing the background on my favorite shows with my favorite personalities and how that played into your design process? Just thank you. 2) I don’t know a goddamn thing about graphic design, so I may sound like an ignorant peasant but…fuck me man you’re brilliant. I don’t know how SecondWind and our community got so lucky but…damn.
@KnightsWithoutATable9 сағат бұрын
Great work on the designs here. They are all instantly recognizable, iconic, and eye catching. Several are also outright art, like the Second Wind logo. Chef's kiss on that. You deserve an award for it, mate.

I knew you played a key role in the design of the channel, but holy cow I wasn't aware that you put the animations together or of the consideration between the design, color, and interplay of the different shows.

Always love to see this kind of prototype and behind the scenes stuff, super interesting. The bubbly classic cartoon look for fully ramblo was a fun idea but the middle finger in the logo speaks a little "f*ck you, DAD!" early web 2.0 show to me, so I'm glad we ended up with the gears and ZP-adjacent look instead. The pallet across shows was cool to see too. Amazing work as ever, Javed

Even if it didn't make the final cut that firelink logo looked incredible. coming from the world of metal I guess I can read it easier, but yeah I get why it didn't work.

So, this looks really interesting and all, but is it just me or was there never a proper introduction video to the individual shows? I mean, we all knew Yahtzee's Full / Semi Ramblomatic was the new ZP and EP, and many probably knew what Cold Take was, but all the other stuff was just kinda thrown out there. Sue we could figure it out quite quickly, but I still think there's potential in managing that. Also, since I don't like podcasts / live things and there's like 4 of them, I turned off notifications ages ago, which probably also hurts audience engagement (as I imagine not everyone manually digs up all the videos). These are just some of my thoughts though.
@maromania712 сағат бұрын
doesn't hurt engagement as much as you'd think. KZbin LOVES when people watch long videos, makes all the other things perform better. both in terms of pull, and in the way it attracts sleeping people's autoplay to stay on this channel. having all the podcasts helps them far more than those few losses. especially since the recommended/autoplay pull stragglers back fairly well.

I can only dream to one day reach this level of creativity, talent, and skill. Props and chefs kiss! 🫡 Creating my own channel's branding was a herculean effort and it was still me doing what I wanted. Can't imagine doing that so many times over and for other creators
