There's a lot of good knowledge being passed along here between part one and two. Trucking and truck maintenance sure isn't rocket science, but knowledge combined with the will to get out there and take an interest in the machinery you work with, often yields good experience in keeping your butt from finding itself on the side of the road waiting for the hook to arrive. I'm a solid believer in just getting your eyes into areas where your hands and feet don't quite get every day. Looking at things and spotting potential issues before they turn into major problems. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!

There is an anti oxidising paste/compound that can be applied to the end of the cable strands before crimping on the end. Stops the end of the cable going bad. They live in a pretty rough environment and need all the help they can get!

Good video, thanks for putting it out here. As always it's good to see you putting mechanical skills to work. There is a timing sensor in front of the air compressor on the backside of the front block.

Bad Timing Sensor for the Motor to jump at Cold Start only?
@benjaminduke486 жыл бұрын
StayingBack71 no just the location. If it goes out it'll turn over but not crank. It gives the ECM the can location for firing. Mine went out but the mechanic said its rare it's normally a starter component, battery or cables, or the part on the firewall. Or ECM shorts out inside.

So today I had a truck with a no start issue. Good batteries good cables. I started from the starter , the solenoid on the starter was good( I used a push button switch and got the starter to crank) I got to the mag switch and I measured voltage across it, nothing. Next I checked the ignition switch. To my surprise it had a broken wire, the ignition switch itself was loose and the driver kept tighten it and in the process the wires were getting twisted. Also it didn’t help that someone tried to fix it before but they did it the cheap way, used butt connectors instead of putting new pins and longer pigtails and securing the wires to prevent that from happening.

I would of liked to seen some voltage drop tests before and after the cable fix.
