Outstanding demonstration, I've been having a lot of requests for this type of finish but always scared to try it. I have all the needed materials except for the guts to do it. After seeing your technique I'm actually excited to try it out now.

I found some fine tip brushes for dying background that can be filled up and used over and over. They have a cap that fits tightly on them and the dye stays preserved in the pen body. I have several for my different background colors. May be something you may want to look into. They work fantastic. I do not have to dip my brush in dye and bring it back and forth over the leather or risk spilling the dye.

I'm going to be making some leather grip covers to cover some billet aluminum grips that I recently ordered for our Harley-Davidson but I'm not sure what kind or weight to go with yet. The weight is gonna depend on whether or not I try to cover the rubber grips that come on it or if I need to cut them off first and as far as what kind of leather I'm thinking bridle leather but I may use Herman Oak or just tooling leather. I'm wondering if I spray them with Leather Sheen is it going to peel off and start looking bad after a short period of time or does it hold up to heavy hand use like grips have to withstand? If it does start peeling or wearing off is it easy to touch up and/or reapply or does it all need to be stripped off first?

I get Sable brushes because of the quality and softness. They glide well over the project and seem too hold more die.

You mentioned something about bevlers that you used in the past, so what kind of bevlers do you use now, if you can share the number. Thanks

How do you tear the back of the leather for a bracelet or something that touches your skin.

You taught me how to finish a tooling project, so I'll teach you how to pronounce Cordovan (CORE-duh-vin). 👍

Very nice, but why do you use Tankote and not Resolene?

Are there dyes that are mlre permanent? I want my shoes to be properly dyed and not rinse out with water
@brianbishoffАй бұрын
fiebings pro oil dye. Their regular dye should be permanent after the leather sheen is sprayed and dries over it.
