Yes! I really enjoy videos like this one. My husband and I are trying to eat in a healthier manner, and seeing what you eat is helpful and encouraging. My favorite standby meal is a whole grain tortilla topped with avocado, brown rice, black beans, and sautéed bell peppers and onions. We like to add a little salsa too. It’s satisfying and we think a healthier alternative to fajitas.

That sounds delicious!

That sounds delish however there is an extreme amount of carbs in that and the human body doesn't know the difference between a flour tortilla and a biscuit. It still converts it to glucose (sugar) and what you don't burn off gets stored as fat.

Oh Tammy, this was wonderful...I learned so much. I have to chime in that I have never liked meat and milk. They made me ill as a child....but my family persisted! Now in my mid-60's I eat mostly raw fruits and vegtalesn....lettuce and fresh fruit. I do like fish very much but only once a week....I eat shrimp. I have noticed the most youthful-looking women I have ever seen in their 80's are the ones that have gone " raw" and although I never did that on purpose, my diet turned out that way. So no cooking....but a lot of salad making....! I am trying to give up Diet Coke....oh my...Diet Dr. Pepper...I love that too...beans on a salad...thank you for reminding me. You are a beautiful and true inspiration!!! You do look thin! Love always, Sues & Desi

Best video ever Tammy! Very helpful! I'm 63 and seem to be dieting all the time and nothing...I mean nothing is helping with weight loss. All of which has been in my waist after 50. This was really helpful and I can see where I can make some changes. I've done KETO...got kidney stones...then recently I've been doing McDougall and I think it's too high in starch for me. Haven't lost a thing and I'm craving some cheese every now and then! I'll definitely use some of your tips here!

Tammy, another home run video! Thanks so much for sharing your eating plan and habits and keeping us inspired to live healthy and vibrant at every age. We have very similar tastes, although I love a good grass fed medium rare steak and baked salmon and pizza once in awhile. Like Leo, my hubby received test numbers back from his doctor last year and decided to change his diet. He has lost almost 60 pounds in the past year and I'm amazed as he never used to take a lunch to work or drink enough water. But he was motivated so now he always takes a salad of spinach and arugula and raw veggies and an apple or pineapple. I was diagnosed last year with Hashimoto;s thyroiditis. So that issue and other aging issues have really slowed down my metabolism. I have found the only eating plan that really works well for me is eating five or six small meals a day 2 to 3 hours apart of clean, lean protein and organic veggies. Eating this way gets my non-existent metabolism going and burning like nothing else ever has, along with moderate exercise. You are so right when you say that health starts in the kitchen. And in our gut. Thanks always for all your work on your great videos. You are loved and appreciated! Bisous back at you, Sweetie!

This was really encouraging. My whole adult life I never ate breakfast. I ate a little something at around 11.00 -12.00 if I was hungry then my evening meal with hubby and kids. A few years ago I started the menopause, now I eat early, because I’m hungry, then graze throughout the day. I do eat a healthy diet, but I’m not as active as I used to be, so movement is key for me. I have that menopause tummy and bottom and it distresses me as I’ve always been very thin. A healthier Intermittent routine is what I need to get back to, but exercising like walking and swimming is definitely key for me. 5.00 am though 😬 You certainly promote balance, so your personal opinions and good example are achievable. Thank you Tammy 🌺

Enjoyed your video so much!! I had such strong sugar cravings around the holidays that I eliminated all sugars except fresh/frozen berries. I can’t even have Stevia or it triggers that sugar craving again. It took about two weeks to get the craving to fade away, but it worked. Now I can eat more fruits but tend to stick mostly with berries. For me, the more greens and beans I eat the faster I lose weight. I can’t explain it. I eat large salads once or twice a day so I am chewing most of my greens. But I also make a green smoothie (44 oz) that fills my large mason jar and then some left over for my drink at dinner. I stuff my Vitamix with a variety fresh greens (at least 5 oz), add 1-3/4 cups ice cold water, juice of half a lemon, and about a third cup each of fresh parsley and English cucumber. Then I add about a cup of frozen blueberries and mix it all up. It’s just another way to get even more greens in my day.

I have been making protein smoothies. Like you I don't have for breakfast. I have never been a breakfast person. I usually have mine anywhere between 11am and 1pm. I use an organic chocolate protein, no sugar added with Stevia, 1 tsp.matcha green tea powder (0 sugar), a Tbl. powder smoothie mix (quinoa, vegetables, and probiotics combination, 0 sugar), Goji Berry Powder (0 sugar), organic pure Moringa vegetable powder (0 sugar), Maca Powder (no sugar added), chia seeds (0 sugar), I use either a little fresh mango or papaya, organic strawberries, about 1/4 banana, one leave stem of fresh organic khale, put in my smoothie blender I make up ahead of time coconut milk ice cubes, and add more in liquid form or will add a little low fat organic milk and blend all to get in my smoothie maker. Fresh kale kind of give it a little nutty fast. I leave kale where it has just a tiny bit in pieces. Other times will make a pina colada protein smoothie with organic vanilla protein powder (no sugar added, with Stevia), will cut up fresh pineapple (love fresh pineapple! It is also good for inflammation) and use (made a head of time) premise coconut milk ice cubes (no sugar added) and add some more fresh coconut milk. Delicious! My protein smoothies usually fill me up, I skip lunch normally and sometimes a snack. Think Thin protein bars are good. Low in calories, 0 sugar added and Stevia is used. Then have a late dinner. Love fresh ocean caught fish (USA only, no farm raised) broiled in a little butter, sea salt, garlic powder, and a little paprika, love all vegetables, but don't eat mushroom (fungus) or extra lean red meat typically eat 1 to 3 times a month, once in awhile roasted pork, baked chicken, roasted turkey. Love advocado. Sometimes wilI take the little mini sweet bell peeps and hollow them out and stuff with leafy green lettuce, cheese, onion, and will stuff with roasted chicken or turkey, or cold roast beef. Stuff inside mini raw sweet bell peppers. Great taste. Sweet mini bell peppers smell so crisp and naturally sweet, crunchy, a couple usually fills me up! I don't eat potatoes or corn, both are high in starch. No corn products, no breads, wheat, flour starchesof corn is high in pesticides used on it too, no breads, wheat/flour pasta (I eat once in awhile pasta made from vegetables), rarely eat pizza made with cauliflower crust, don't drink pop ( not one sip in 7 years and no alcohol of any kind), drink water, organic Bai Coconut water drink (no sugar added, made with Stevia) homemade iced tea with Stevia and lemon slice occassionally, a 1/2 to 1 cup of kieffer probiotic milk strawberry flavor. once in awhile no sugar added juice (I dilute down in a cold glass of organic juice with ice for something different. This is my 2nd video I watched of yours. Enjoyed watching them! I have subscribed to watch for more. Thanks for the tips!

Miss Tammy 👏👏👏👏 Such an enjoyable video and YES I would LOVE more like this ! The struggle is real and so very frustrating as I have always been a very health conscious eater and strive to stay well informed on on all things health but this menopause weight struggle is just that A STRUGGLE . Congrats on your weight loss as that is a huge accomplishment. I have two product suggestions for you , Spindrift sparkling waters ( my fave are grapefruit and cranberry raspberry ) for the fizz just be aware of expiration dates as it effects the taste . Really good and no natural flavors and found at Target . The next suggestion is a plant based butter by Miyokos , it’s spendy but absolutely the most delicious healthy butter dupe . I think you would love it ! Pam 💐

Your kitchen is beautiful. 🙃 I’m 37 and although I’m not nearly as disciplined as you, I stay slim by eating the same thing everyday. I take the choice out of my meals and, therefore, I avoid making bad choices. Breakfast is a hard boiled egg and one slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter. Lunch is vegetarian chili (I make a big batch on the weekend to get me through the week). Dinner is lots and lots of vegetables and roast chicken breast or salmon filet. When I go out with my friends I have whatever I want. It may sound boring but it works for me so far. I love your channel, Tammy! 💖 I’m going to try to incorporate more of your ideas and the products you have mentioned.

Good Morning Beautiful, I am a long time viewer but don't comment often...I just wanted to tell you I agree 100 percent with your video about food and health and losing weight a few years ago I was very overweight unhealthy and depressed about it all...I decided to take charge and become healthier...small changes led to dramatic results...I was 300 lbs in perimenohell lol and I began...it is now 4 years later and I am half the woman I used to be...I did not kill myself at a gym...I would take walks and watch my food intake and WHAT I put in my mouth...FOOD IS 90 PERCENT OF THE BATTLE WITH WEIGHT...you can have treats of course but you have to be honest with yourself about what you consume, anyway you do such a great job here with your videos being you and encouraging and I wanted to be encouraging to others as well! xox

Hi Tammy, I have smoothies too. I add chia, flax, hemp, protein powder, beet powder, chocolate fudge green powder, raspberry, coconut water, walnut butter. If I have that smoothie I will skip lunch and snack on cucumber, celery, or sauerkraut. Fermented foods being good for ulcers & my diverticulitis. I love salads and love berries in mine sometimes & walnuts. I do eat range chicken & tuna & salmon. Do you eat any grains? You said you love garbanzo beans. I found a fabulous garlic, garbanzo bean soup one of my German friends shared on out FB group. If interested I would be happy to share the recipe. Menopause was the bane of my existence as far as weight and I really struggled. I did skip the 🔥flashes though as did my mother, but we both had/have thyroid issues so we were always cold. Love your food videos and would love for you to share more. My husband passed away at 59 from a massive heart attack. They run in his family on his father's side. Never one to go to the doctor, even with badgering and constant canceling of Cardiologist Appt's. He had just had his work physical showing only that his cholesterol was slightly elevated. I made him an appt with a Cardiologist which was going to be a surprise, so he couldn't cancel just 10 days before his heart attack. I urge everyone, especially those with a family history. You could be a-symtomatic like my late husband. Start getting Cardiac checks no later than age 40. Enjoy your travels to Florida & your move & stay safe. xoxo

Congratulations on the weight loss . As a menopausal woman I hear ya! My husband walks in the room with a bag of popcorn and will loose 8 pounds sneezing! Love this video, and feel like I follow most of what you presented. I do make some satisfying desserts from a Keto Connect cook book. ( Matt and Meghan), bit with your reminder I will pay closer attention to just how much of the “ sweets” I am eating . I have been know to have a selective memory when it comes to treats. One more thing- I agree - sugar is the enemy, we must be aware of hidden sugars .

Love your videos Tammy.. I’m 56 and went through the change in 2012.. no hot flashes no side affects .. Beans are high in fiber so it cancels out a lot of the carbs.. low glycemic they are great!! Do you like lentils ? Up your protein source and you’ll lose more weight .. women lose muscle mass daily after 40 or menopause The more muscle you have the more you’ll lose weight!! But you know that already I’m sure.. :) Older women can lift heavy with no worries of getting to bulky and they should!! You’ll lose more.. and build bone mass as well it’s proven.. You should have 20 grams of protein every meal.. or at least 102 grams of protein a day.. we’re a body building family since 73’. We own a gym Hubby and his brothers have won many natural body build competitions, my diet isn’t extreme.. my Daughter has too.. you can see her. @ kkellen.fit on Instagram she has great eating clean ideas.. Love you ideas for snacks.. yes body building is so important for weight loss!! I can lose 20 lbs the first month but I gain lots of muscle that helps .. then 8 lbs the next.. I eat 30 grams within 30 minutes of waking ,your body is screaming for protein at our age.. so I’ll eat 4 or 5 eggs with sometimes with just one yoke in them It makes them lighter, then I’ll add a little coconut oil to the pan and wilt “spring mix” with spinach, or broccoli It’s tastes great with the coconut oil , And a half a cup of beans, black, or pinto, big salad for lunch with a chicken breast eggs in it.. salmon, chicken, or a beef once a week for dinner with a mixed bag of veggies from Costco it has a ton of mixed veggies.. 20 almonds for 1 snack And then just celery with nut butter on top.. just switch it it up as you chose. I’ve had 6 very big children lol. Sons 6’6 6’5 daughters 6’1 and 5’11 + Lol.

I eat a ton of beans, love lentils....eat plenty of eggs...and use protein powders, my body reacts poorly when I eat to much protein...to the point where I have to seek medical attention...I am one of those people that really doesn't mind working out, I love weights and bands and when my body allows, I still enjoy a few HIIT a week........THOSE are some BIG KIDS...any basketball players?? Thanks Carole, have a great night.

Oh I understand about high protein, it’s a delicate balance!! It can be binding for some people!! Sounds like you are great on that. Protein shakes are great!! It’s a challenge to find good quality protein powder!! I find it’s sickening sweet!! Yes 3 of them played basketball.. my girls both played college ball.. one went to the NCAA tournament!! Sorry about doubting you on your protein intake. I just saw this video meal day!! It adds up..! ❤️

This is a great video. I already eat many things you mentioned but I am happy to have the salad dressing recommendations (I have always disliked sweet dressings anyway). The parmesan crisps are enticing but I have problems with portion control so I will need to think hard about this. For me the most important weight loss aid is journaling because I definitely forget what I already have eaten and it also helps to look back on what I ate on a particular day when I did not struggle with feeling satisfied. I have certainly noticed that on days when I eat white flour and sugar (usually when eating out at a place with a limited menu), I feel hungrier later on.

Thank you for this wonderful and thoughtful video! I just found you several days ago thanks to KZbin analytics lol. I’m 60 and interested in all things post menopause: how to lose weight and /or maintain weight, exercise for bodies that have experienced injuries through the years and simply cannot do the same routines as the premenopausal and younger crowd (but no stranger to exercise!), food like this great video (I know how and what to eat but have willpower issues (😩!), vitamins and supplements, skincare and makeup for mature skin, anti-aging tips, techniques at home or professionally, clothing styles that are youthful and flattering, etc. I loved your hair conditioning video and robe belt hair tutorial (I’m going to try that one). I love your natural approach using oils, etc, too but also open to lower cost serums etc, one can buy on The Ordinary such as Niacinamide (just found out about this). By the way what you are doing is working! You are gorgeous and have beautiful glowing skin and I’ve subscribed with notifications! I’ll be binge watching your videos! Thanks again! ❤️
