So happy to find this comment thread! 💖 I'm only 24(feel like a teenager) but all my best friends are getting children- and my boyfriend is even babysick as well x3 It all gives me this awful death anxiety since I feel like a kid at this age while the world around me tells me I am really muuch much older, which in my busy brain translates into "You will not get to the finishline before dying so you could just as well quit the game already"(Want to restart from last lvl, but still haven't invented the time machine..!) :( I've had suicidal thoughts as far back as I can remember but now that I feel i've come too far behind in life i'm actually so terrified that this has to end some day- and mostly because death can be slow and painful. Not so much the fact that I won't.. be.. I (and my family) expected more of me than what I've become and it feels like there is just not enough time left to make up for all the wrong turns... :(

We have a problem though nowadays with not wanting to accept our adulthood. There is nothing wrong with being adult, and we certainly are no longer a kid. I get mourning our youth, but I think part of it is the unhealthy idolization of being a teen/ kid. (Which is much stronger in those of us who enjoy anime or certain young adult franchises that don't really focus on older characters.)

@@Sam-yt8mu Haha omg what a throwback. It's actually so interesting that this is coming up now because I'm turning 29 in July and still struggle with these feelings every now and then. That said, I'm now living in Tokyo fully time working as a producer for an automotive company and honestly my 23 year old self would be so proud. I still feel a lot of those anxieties to do even more in my 30s, but I also love all the content that is out there from one of the coolest generations of 30 year olds and it reminds me that we can be whatever version of ourselves we want to be no matter our age.

I've been watching you for a long time, but this is the first time I've been inspired to comment. We're born in the same year (I turned 29 in August) and I went through the same thing as you. I'm not a model, but starting around 25 I started to feel this intense pressure that getting older necessitated change. I couldn't continue to have the same interests, I couldn't continue to dress in the fashion I liked, I couldn't have blue hair or read comics or collect figures. In retrospect, it seems so silly to ascribe that kind of ultimatum to an age, but I subconsciously harbored this belief that 30 was the death of who I am as a person. 30 was the point where I'd have to surrender my identity to fit the script of the person society says I should be according to my age. Of course, none of that is true at all. We will change--that is inevitable--but who we are at our core won't. And if anything, finally reaching the point where 30 is knocking at my door has given me the strength to say, "I don't care." If people think I dress young, that's their problem. If people think I shouldn't enjoy the media I do, well, I didn't ask for their input, anyway. I'm going to live my best life regardless of my age, and if anything, being older and providing for myself has finally given me the freedom to make that possible. I feared this time in my life for so long, but I can say with all honesty that I've never felt better and more confident in myself. I'm so glad to hear you've reached that place, too.

What you said is so true and even in the entertainment industry that is supposedly "sooooo" obsessed with people being younger to find ultimate success, but when you look closely there's countless examples that prove the opposite and also the darker side where sometimes sadly the younger you are, the more you can be taken advantage of in that industry and don't get to do it on your terms. Taylor, I have never felt closer to you than after this video. As I heard you express your feelings on aging and past feelings all I could think of was me. I have legit cried over how I am growing older and how I miss my younger face and even the passions I had at my younger age. I am just a few months younger than you, as I turn 29 this next April. Honestly after watching this I felt inspired and encouraged. Someone I look up to has struggled with the same feelings but has found a way to move past that with a positive attitude. I agree too! Age really is a number and though our bodies do change, who we are and what we like doesn't have to. I also am struggling with hormonal acne and your videos on that have helped me out as well. Happy Birthday Taylor! Life definitely gets better with age! I turned 30 last June and it has been the best year of my life so far! It feels good to finally have confidence and know what I want after struggling between what I thought was expected of me and what I really wanted for myself. Congrats! For me, turning 30 felt so liberating. I'm no model, though, so those were not thoughts I ever had to contend with. I simply find that being content with myself and my life gets so much easier with each passing year. I'll be 40 in January, and even though it's just a measure of time, I'm super excited. I hope you have an awesome finish to your 20's, but, I think you will find your 30's will be far more rewarding. Mental maturity is an amazing thing to experience. To life!

The final part of this video is exactly how I feel... Sometimes I feel the pressure of time and I might feel as if time is “running out” for me to do certain things but then I realise that my timing doesn’t have to be the same as everybody else’s just because that’s what society expects; if I don’t want certain things now then it means that I am not ready for them therefore the timing isn’t right. When it’s time you’ll know. No one should make important life decisions just based on a time window rather than on what they truly feel ready for (or they might just end up being miserable for the rest of their lives). By the way, “age truly is just a number” is literally what I’ve said when reading the title to this video... I couldn’t and still cannot believe that you’re 29! I’m 26 and I definitely would have never thought that you were older than me... I started and kept following because other than being funny, I could see and liked that you were mature, but I thought you were just ahead of your time because of life experiences... I genuinely wouldn’t have given you more than 19 years from the way you look 😂😂😂 (And I mean that as a compliment of course). Aw thanks for sharing your day and thoughts with us, Taylor. Because of it, we have some thing in common that I wouldn’t have known otherwise! I just turned 27 on the 10th, and I definitely feel that in this year I grew into my age. Years 25-26 were my strongest crisis years as I was living abroad in Korea at the time, and just didn’t have any direction. Thanks for the advice. When I turned 26 this year it was hard not to compare myself to other people and feel inadequate. I took a weird path and am just now graduating college this weekend (!!!) so I don't have a successful career like some people my age do. I often feel bad for not being where I "should" be in life. But really life is not about comparing yourself to other people, but being grateful for the unique experiences you have. It's nice to hear you that even you have struggled with these kinds of thoughts and it makes me feel like I can be more confident in myself! Let's not let age define us! 🤗
